  • Dion Dimucci the friggin baddass coir boy from new york, hes the first gangsta raper

  • Dion Dimucci the friggin baddass coir boy from new york

  • This guys looked after himself Rock and Roll has been good to him he still looks like a teenager lol Dion king of the doo wops

  • Folks , the only guy here is Dion ---the rest are a back-up group of singers --- I'm the same age as Dion , have seen him perform --- non better --- agree with comment about being totally underated ---

  • Now that's Real Talent....!

  • Look a little closer. He called it Dion and A Belmonts group, not Dion and the Belmonts. Dion and The Belmonts split sometime around '59 or '60, after they recorded Cole Porter's song In the Still Of The Night.

  • Thanks for the great post Schrooms. Your's are the best. May not be Carlo and the other boys, but it is the unmistakable Double D. That makes it legit. Acappella after all these years? Who could question the value of this vid? No one, that's who.

  • Which is correct, "do wop", "doo wop", or "do w.o.p."? SPURN THE MUSE!!

  • Dion has called himself a Christian, but he has a picture of a satanist on the 2nd page of his web's site. SPURN THE MUSE!!

  • @onemellowdude Dion wasn't underrated, didn't he have several number 1 hits? Merely he came a little later, and rose to the top, while the others had already peaked. SPURN THE MUSE!!

  • Check out some real live Do Wop from a Dion & Belmonts reunion in 1983

  • see the original from Dick Clark show 1958 to the right posted by DoowopRick>

  • love dion saved up a lot of money to fly from the uk to alantic city to see him got a dvd etc (bigdeal) ha ha love the guy but its not the same sounds different with every hook up you no the score dion we want it sung like back then .stop changing riffs and melody just sing you were born to do it god damm

  • Yeah,,,that's what I'm talkin' about ....

  • Dion and the Belmonts split in the early 60s. Not a single Belmont there.

  • @abuiltmale thats why the poster of this vid said "A" Belmonts group, in reference to the fact that this group is attempting to recreate the original sound of Dion and The Belmonts

  • It's a shame that Dion just can't sing the damn song like it was recorded. He doesn't seem to understand he gave the world a classic 50 years ago and it's no longer about him. It's about the music that HE made a part of Americana. So, please Dion, new riffs aside....sing the song the way you did back in the day. That's what the people r e a l l y want to hear!!!

  • @TheJsimone Gee! you try doing the same song the same way for 50 years.

  • No Belmonts here. NONE. Correct the title. Why would someone who likes Dion get this wrong??????

  • dion's the man no doubt!

  • My wife and I once saw Dion in Atlantic City back in 1987-88. He brought his daughter up on stage. Needless to say she stole the show and the audience wouldn't let her off she was so good. Where is that young lady now?

  • Great outstanding job & what can you say about Dion

  • Definately not The Belmonts, why would you call it Dion and The Belmonts?

  • Because the original Belmonts where no longer with Dion at this time.

  • @rakeuiff People across the board here on youtube seem to think everything he did or does is with The Belmonts even stuff with The Del Satins, (Runaround Sue etc) they call Dion and The Belmonts as far as I can figure it these are kids or not really Dion fans they just found a old song they liked to post. These of course are just backup singers doing The Belmonts parts so Dion can do an old hit.

    Eddie Black The Five Sharks

  • @rakeuiff He didn't. He called it "a belmonts group". SPURN THE MUSE!!

  • @spurnthemuse Look you can play semantics if you choose , however this is not the a Belmont group or The Belmonts there is no such thing as a Belmont group, this is a bunch of guys backing up Dion on one of the old hits he did with The Belmonts, the next number they did may have been Runaround Sue, would that then make them a Del Satin group? no of course not they would still be a backup group Dion picked to do backup for his songs on this show.

  • Very nice.

  • Onemellowdude- Right on the money. Doowop-too cool!

  • Amazing. there is no other word to describe the voice of Dion. I was really impressed with this version.

  • Like Trainiac said below, it's tough to beat The Belmonts.

  • Gotta agree with onemellowdude. VERY underated. It would have been interesting to see where Buddy Holly would have went if not for that fateful day. But Dion himself even said, he couldnt dance, thats why he snapped his fingers. He does play alot of instruments and not until recently is being noted for being a great guitarist, with the two blues albums. And he pays tribute to those guys on his most recent album. The fact that he could change styles and move on to the next era is simply amazing.

  • He was under rated to to all those guys? No he wasn't, he was rated right where he should have been, right UNDER all those names. They were all better. Dion had talent, but, not like those guys. He didn't play multiple instruments, didn't shake his shhhhhh.....stuff. He stood there, snappin his fingers. His attitude killed him. He thought he was the "best". He wasn't.

  • The original Belmonts, teamed with "Boom Boom" Cannon in 1980.

  • Belmonts were great. I must say though that this group backing Dion are no slouches, there vocals on this classic are IMPECCABLE imo

  • great.....

  • Tough to beat "The Belmonts". Dion, always Dion! That would be a great reunion.

  • Nice job. BUT, this is NOT the Belmonts

  • The only problem is that I don't think this is the belmonts. They have changed too much and the song is actually worse then the old times. With all the key changes and tempo changes.

  • This is too great for words.

  • we need to teach our kids more of this music from loop 62

  • whwre are the belmonts? I dont think any pf them are backing Dion here.

  • Give these guys a break, they were in their prime half a century ago!

  • And they could sing better than these guys right now!

  • Comment removed

  • I know thats dion but are those the 2 orginal belmonts.

  • These guys still have it! Thanks.

  • Best live singing without instruments I ever heard.

  • Excellent. Italians in Bronx are talented.

  • Sounds better as a Doo-op then it does with the music

  • I can´t believe they sound this fine. Amazing. Great style, nice songs... and Dion is a great singer.

  • This is an American art form. Should be in the Smithsonian. FANTABULOUS ! From a long time Canadian fan.

  • Thank you for pointing that out. It's nice to remember that there is actually some culture we can be proud of.

  • THESE GUYS R REALLY GOOD

  • I hate to picky but of course this is a Dion solo concert not Dion and the Belmonts. He still has it and plays his ass off in concert. I just saw him again about a year ago.

  • Actually the truth is that he plays and sings live with The tracks that Joey Neary , Jimmy Gallagher and Tony Passa made when the did Deja Nu and New Masters. Di is a good friend and is still one of the most talented guy in Boca and the Universe.

    LoL

  • Great...what year are they performing this here...2008-09? What a way to hone a craft.

  • This was back in 1993.

  • they sound awesome!
