Why cant people and stores just buy the meet, eggs and so on from close manufactured places ? It is good for the country, county and so on. The money stay in your area, the animals dont have to travel far and you can eat you rmeat and at least feela little better.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Lucky for you! I guess I could raise my own cattle??? The US agribusiness is really disgusting me lately. I've been so grossed out that I can't even see most dairy products without gagging. (Too bad that doesn't quite work on ice cream!)
Just because it is organic doesn't mean it hasn't been transported. :( Even so-called "free range" is relative-- since there is no official regulation. Even what is going on with supposedly kosher products is super disturbing.
Since I live in a very small country (Denmark) where it takes 5 hours from one end to the other, the solution for me is to buy danish meat, grown and slaughtered in Denmark. But living in a hugh county like Germany, France, USA etc. you haven't got that option.

I think the methods are quite the same all over the world.
That's why I always buy organic food...

Chickens are handled in much the same way in Canadian farms, in terms of the way they're put in crates and transported.
