@killmiky here in the philippines, ragnarok wasn't free you see, but it was fun. when free online games started coming out, people stopped playing ragnarok, eventually it was too late when ragnarok players found out about private servers, so in the end thanks to greedy people, ragnarok was never played by kids nor was it tried by new generation players but never forgotten by players who played it, like me. ^_^

@TheVampireNeo Technically, the game ragnarok take place after the ragnarok, since the humans are all present over their world by this time. This is also probably why you can acquire some items named after Norse gods, like Frigg's circlet. Though many irregularities take place too, Valkyries, Norns, or the Yggdrasil and Niddhog place.

In my opinion the game is heavilly around Norse mythology, but doesn't follow the same "storyline" in order to make the game playable, fair and vast.

@Yemetha I noticed that some most played Korean MMOs have the Norse,Greek or Celtic Mythology. Another one being Mabinogi, wich has places like the paradise land Tir na Nog and gods like Morrigan. They even have 7 'Months' wich in real time would be a week. Sunday would be Imbolic, an Irish Festival that starts the beginning of Spring and so on. The game also has a small hint of astronomy into the mix, like most of the things found in Celtic mythology.

@TheVampireNeo Then, i fear you won't find such things in video games. Only books like the prose Edda, or Norse myths can tell you this. To my knowledge very few video games follow the precise original story. Based from a famous story, a movie or a mythology.

In the end, games are only games, i think you shouldn't worry too much about it if you don't have fun with it.
