@ASsufferer : Hello! I'm doing ok here. Thanks for thinking of me! I actually have a couple other videos that I made a couple years ago of the good, bad & ugly, but never got around to editing and posting. Maybe I will get to it. I just don't like seeing myself on videos :-/ Pain is not as bad as in this video, but still not very good. I am now pregnant, so am hopeful I will get relief. I found a triggerpoint therapy to help with headaches from the spasms in my thorasics! hugs!
Trudi, I'm sorry to hear about what happened. I also have AS and I was in the Army and had problems throughout. I didn't find out about my AS until later and thankfully the VA here in WA has been helpful. There are some things you can do to keep the inflammation down. For the most part I've been trying to stay away from meds. Supplements such as Hyaluronic Acid (HA) has worked for me as it is good for the joints. Also Omega 3's may also help. Try looking for other anti-inflammotory sups.
@robjlt Glad they are working for you. The list of supplements I have tried are countless... just haven't found the miracle one/s yet! Currently I am taking: Fish oils, Vit C, Vit B's, D & E, plus eat fermented foods & gelatin (GAPS diet) to help heal any gut issues and get microbial nutrients into my system. My main goal (right now) is to support my adrenals, which will help my thyroid (hashimoto's) which should reduce some pain as well. It is a long journey.
Lovely people, if you have AS or any other autoimmune disorders and rhumatoid disorders, THERE IS HOPE!!!!!! Check out a doctor I went to who can help you address the CAUSE of your disease and reverse them. He doesnt like to use the word "Cure' but thats essentially what he does. GoldBergClinic in atlanta GA God bless you! There is hope! pass on the great news!!!!!
I had all these symptoms +... IBS, depression, fatigue. Sciatica. Thinned disk in lower back. Ceased up back. Withered right leg. Hip popped out once. All pretty much better now. I follow mostly a low fat raw vegan diet and drink plenty of water. Also some supplements have helped as well. My latest run was 20 miles and I feel great as long as I don't cheat with the diet! Most of what I've done is in my blog or website. Hope you manage to make a recovery. Take care.
@eatmoreraw : glad you found relief. I do not believe a low fat diet is healthy in the long haul. Anytime people take processed foods (esp wheat) out of their diet they will notice a change for the positive. From all of my research, I've found that we need a good dose of healthy fats for many bodily functions to stay healthy: joints, brain, gut, etc. There are specific nutrients found only in animal fats, Vit. B & A being a biggie.
I have colitis and startign to develop symptoms of AS... Im doing a raw vegan diet (its pretty extreme) and hopefully that will keep my body functioning at its best. My energy is better, skin is clearer, mind is clearer, life is good.
@cusycoillur Accupuncture was tried for several months after this video was made. It actually caused me more pain. The needles in my hands caused them to stiffen bad enough I couldn't use my thumbs for a couple days after therapy. Even the accupuncturist was baffled!
Hi Todd, Diet does not seem to change anything for me. I did a 10 day water-only fast last year in desperation and had no change. Even on days after eating high starch my pain is sometimes reduced. However, I work at eating as clean as possible with reduced starch to also keep my family healthy and hope that my system will benefit.
My problems started after the mass vaccinations in Navy Boot camp. I believe the assault on my immune system caused it to go haywire, ending in this arthritis..
@madebytrudi New as a Chiropractor 35 years ago, I naively specialized in arthritis. My treatment was simple: home-made vegetable soup - celery, parsley, zucchini, green beans; no salt but herbs for flavor. In short, the worst inflammatory cases got dramatically better quickly; followed by a modified veg diet. I'd recommend looking into the Gerson Therapy (for cancer etc) as a rather comprehensive approach (it can be done at home, too) There's a long-overdue revolt going on in health.
@orsonwagon Just got chills reading this. I was diagnosed with a few diff autoimmunes and neuro issue over two years ago. I was hospitalized all over the US from AZ to MD. Stuck in bed for over a year. About a year ago I was up late with the usual insomnia and came across a movie on Netflix. "The Beautiful Truth". Based on the "Gerson Therapy" . Long story short is we been living a modified version for a year now and I now can walk again! I have started to get my life back thanks to Dr Gerson.
@orsonwagon : I agree! Our processed foods are killing us. During this video, I was eating a clean diet, mostly raw and NO processed or white foods (no potato, rice, noodles, bread, etc). I was very disappointed it did not help. But I found out that Hashimoto's thyroid problems cause issues everywhere too, esp with adrenals and to heal the adrenals & gut takes many years. So On with the perserverence!
@madebytrudi I saw two women this week who demonstrated how they could now bend their knees all the way to the floor without pain after having given up wheat flour products. For a long time I too couldn't cheat without a lot of pain. I now have residual pain in one hand. I'm looking up a millet bread recipe - something to spread peanut butter on! A friend turned me on to a great film available at Lulu.com. called "FAT. SICK AND NEARLY DEAD" It's a must see, and very inspiring.
I thought I was the only person who had ever experienced the pain that I went trough before my cervical spine fused. Full body spasms were the worst. Hardball to the sternum sneezes were second. Now I deal with the disability of no neck movement at all. Keep moving your joints no matter how much it hurts.
It makes me feel really good that I could encourage someone! It's hard to let your gaurd down when people don't seem to understand. But thats why it's so important to talk about A.S. or any form of spondylitis. Hang in there. I love your sculpting, it's amazing!
@bigfootman1970 Sorry to hear of your problems. Psoriatic arthritis is in the same family. Hope you find a way to some relief!
