...okay you might be right if I think about funk it was more about party - but what about 2Pac? I thought he was considered as being "true" in his field and he didn't represent a movement or something. Or Scarface. They where rapping about society, problems and experiences. As much as I know.
@abaex yea 2pac is my fav rapper of all time....but this song is meant to take it back to the basics....having fun...straight music....not struggle and hardtimes....i got songs that address that on my mixtape droppin Jan. 1st 2011 called "THE END OF THE BEGINNING" i made songs for everyone and touched on just about every subject on there. from abuse to club songs
@BMB2010 ah okay...well I want to be sure now what's considered as "real" HipHop so I went to an oldschool forum and asked it there. xDD ...could get interesting since I also asked about crossing hiphop with screamo like brokencyde.
...oh yea and uhm isn't real hiphop about problems in society not about music itself? North Korea is starting a war, there are still lots of problems in Afghanistan / Iraq, there where lots of floods some months ago, a volcano in Indonesia killed people...Chinese people seem to have still bad working conditions, ALL countries are mysteriously in dept, there are Muslim, Jewish and Christian extremists all over the place hating each other even though it's the exact same religion...and muuuch more.
@abaex i dont know where u from but in america real hip-hop was straight lyrics and beats....bragging, battling, showcasing skills...etc....it wasn't until later that certain artists became activists fighting for rights. so to answer yo question real hip-hop WAS about music itself...it wasn't about anything else starting out. FIGHT THE POWER and all them type songs didn't come til later....sooooo anything else u wanna add?
