On an old vinyl record called Best of Indie Top 20 which i have 'Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now' is strangely sung in French by The Wedding Present.
I think that we're possibly both wrong - having checked the Chart Stats website, "Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now" entered the charts on 1 October 1988. Therefore, as it's featured as a new release, this is probably actually a September edition of The Chart Show.
23Daves another excellent addition. Lots of thanks.
I've done some checking and the episode is Friday 9 September 1988.
There is another episode on YouTube for The Chart Show 30.09.1988. This also has the Indie Chart as the specialist chart and has The Wedding Present: Why are you being so reasonable now? at #1. In your edition the song is a new Indie release. Given that all specialist charts are on a 21-day cycle this suggests the date I have given.
Actually that September 30th episode isn't up any more. YouTube deleted my account because some record company moaned about a video in one of my Chart Show clips. Honestly, why do they bother? Any money they might be losing is surely pathetically small and irrelevant compared to the promotion the songs and artists must get by the clips being here?
I noticed that, James, and suspected that's what had happened. It's the danger of doing this sort of thing, I think, although I agree with you that it's pathetic. The fact that one offending music video can be found two thirds of the way through a Chart Show excerpt is hardly likely to cause sales to come crashing down, I wouldn't have thought.
I'm wondering if I should stop tagging and mentioning the artists featured in each video, whether that will keep things safer for a bit.
Sorry to hear about that too, James. I also thought it was odd that I couldn't find you CS vids. I'm wondering if these record companies now have a special legal department where someone sits down and trawls through YouTube and other such sites looking for their vids!
Anyway they don't seem to realise that these episodes actually promote their artists. I mean these Indie episodes meant I've bought lots of albums and back catalogue stuff.
Further evidence - Indie Chart: Yazz is on the way down, but still near the top no doubt helped by the August run at #1 in The Top Ten. Albums: The Smith's latest album is #1 and Bros: I quit was a new release in early September and Phil Collins did get the #1 with The Hollies not far behind in early September.
i dont think that it is october. i think that it would have been may/jun time. because the reason im saying this is the wedding present: why are you being so reasonable now was in the indie chart on 28 of august.p.s why do the chart show always put a song in the chart news or as exclusive and then put it in the specials chart 2 weeks later
Well, it wouldn't have been October as the September 30th edition of the show was the last edition before the end of year special and the show moved to ITV.
Dose any one have the carzyhags vid for rags and if so could they post it on you tube, I want to see it.

Of course it's not going to get sales crashing down. If anything, it might get people interested and actually go out and buy their records.

How petty! Sometimes i think there's some sort of grand conspiracy against us Chart Show fans.
