@ RonyMexico: Your response to Jim Brown speaking his mind, is typical and you can't be wholly responsible for your response to what he's saying. Whenever an educated Black man speaks the truth, exposes the racism and discrimination he's been a part of and can articulate his feelings, he's labeled as 'angry' or 'militant.' When he keeps quiet, goes along with "massa" and keeps licking his gravy, he's considered 'one of the good ones' (read: Good Niggers).
@SuperWiseyoung88: "Racist spin this shine puts on everything." Obviously, you aren't a person of color or you wouldn't showcase your ignorance like Dolly Parton's tits in a halter top. Jim Brown is simply letting people like you know that he knows 'the game.' And the 'game' is that no matter how much American's talk about 'freedom' and 'equality', the real truth is that color is still the measuring stick in this country and your complexion can either be a connection or hinderance to you.
@RonyMexico...how can you say that? No ethnic group has yet reached the full potential of simply being respected as American citizens. As long as racism exists, your comment holds no water. Sure, things have gotten much better since the 1960s but don't believe for a second that our society has evolved yet into a just, color blind America. We have a long way to go, and Brown's perspective, though a bit angry, is not off base one iota.
great football player, but his opinions on society are full of shit and racist, the 60s are over jim, get over black power, nam , and all that other shit
i am glad he said the modern black athletes are embarrassing, i agree...jim brown never showboated, i respect him immensely...best football player ever too
he was also a member of the black panther along with jimi hendrix.
he says he dont like the way blacks clown around and degrade them selfs, well if he new ali as well has he says he does, he will know that ali was the biggest clown of all. jb is a fucking hypocrit son of a bitch
Wow, wow man! I will be 53 in a few months and I'm watching this interview and thinking. When I grow up I want to be just like Jim Brown. Wow! My wife isn't of African decent and she asked me why you don't see people like Mr Brown fighting against racism. All I could tell her is if you are seen as a threat to the establishment, in the old days they would kill you. Now they will discredit you in some way. Mr Brown has weathered the storm and is still standing. Wow dude! What a man. A true man.
@hoseaj And when they dont kill you they discredit you, And when they dont discredit you, you sundenly come down with a man made disease, given to you by one of their controlled Doctors, it seems like a bad coincidence, but its not. Its the work of the DEVIL! And in some cases they set you up as a criminal and put you in jail. Anyone with the power of influence, had better pledged their devotion to the system, or at any point and time as decided, that threat shall and will be illimminated!!!
I thought the first part of this interview was inspirational, but pt.2 of this conversation raised my respect level for Mr.Brown a notch higher. The segment where Jim expressed his gratitude & appreciation to God for his life.......and how he wished to be remembered as someone who simply made a positive contribution, with no fanfare or publicity in return, spoke well for his character. His humility is sincerely REAL....which qualifies him as a REAL MAN!
Wonderful interview...we need more black men like this in our society.. he keeps it real very honest. simple things we as a people ( black, white, watever) we have forgot...we are failing to realize power is not in your pockets but in your words and actions..I never knew Hoover was watching Jim Brown but, I do understand..Love you JB!
Jim Brown is not a perfect human being (nor has he claimed to be), he may not even be a role model (nor has he claimed to be). But Jim Brown makes sense, Jim Brown has been CONTINUALLY proven right in his statements. And as a white male, that's why I respect Jim Brown...and agree with him.
I thank God that I have had the chance to know and work with the legendary Jim Brown. It is shameful that many young Black Athletes of today have ignored his message, legacy and contribution. They are pre-occupied with $ and fame; History will ignore them for that..
Great point JB makes. Saddly, sports leagues want to only pay their respects to its starts after they die. The NFL should have retired his number years ago for the real community involvement JB does. I like the way he wants to go out...no "who can be seen in the front seats" or any of that fake stuff. JB should be honored now...not when he is gone. The great American of our times!
god, this man is almost god himself in my eyes. not only is he a great player, hes a man, and those of you who can tell know what i'm talking about. he does what he feels is right and nothing is gunna stop him. i mean hell, talk about make an impact, the man just inspired me.
thank you Mr Brown, young people need to be inspired not just for football, but life itself. and to be anything in life, that will help change the world for the better. not just sports. I wish you good health and lots of love.
It's only common sense any black man can have it....only if they used it. That's what Jim Brown would like to see more black people having is common sense. Think on the same level that he thinks on. Your parents have to teach you that. Common Sense ain't common these days.
Hell yeah. Each one teach one. Black people are getting in trouble for the same old shit. You're supposed to learn from others if you see your family members fucking up like some of mine have you say.."Oh shit! I better not do that or I'm going to be locked up too!" Drug Dealing, crime, etc. The pattern has to be broken is what I'm saying. If you see someone fall in the hole, don't you fall in the hole too. That's common sense. Walk away from the hole. Learn from what you see.
Jesse Owen said it best when talking about the U. S. vs Nazi Germany conflict following his Four Golds in the Berlin Olynpics - at least Hitler (as opposed to superlib FDR) would shake my hand.
If only, all the athletes were "like Jim" rather than "like Mike"

@tonyuptown69 I've experienced it first hand. Everything you said is a fact.
Jim Brown spoke of this too. He knows.
The government is very evil in the way they control.
They are not above slandering you, or making your friends your enemies, or making you think
you're crazy, and / or making everyone else you're crazy.
It's not a fucking game. And they will spend as much time and money as it takes to fuck off your world.

This man is probably right, as it gravitates; but one cannot engineer this solution.
The Nazis and the Soviets tried to FORCE this engineering, to sort of make it "equal"; And this man is definately on the mark-
Sorry to say, it all sounds too darn racist, though.
