@guitargod2737 Single coils are perfect for the song, and the volume knob is just in the right spot. Strats are kinda lame, I think so too, but Yngwie always has a similar tone, tone on Echo Etude is similar, except on this there is no effects either, and the swell is constant, I don't know if it's simpler or harder.
This guy is nothing but schtick - a total ham on stage too. He'll never touch the strung right, played lefty - upside down guitar work of Paul Schofield paulschofieldbluesband,com/audio,html (replace commas with periods)
What an ugly guitar!!! That's the worst finish on a strat I've ever seen.
There's a lot of hype over this guy Bonamassa, but to me he's no better than any decent pub blues player or saturday afternoon music shop player. He's got a certain amount of technique from practising but poor sound and poor feel. Plays blues by numbers
@guitarmaan I go to pubs all the time. Seen Jeff Beck, Santana, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, BB King, Buddy Guy all front row. What pub guys are you seeing?
Too 'white' - where's the groove? This is the sort of crap I do in my bedroom when I'm feeling moody. And any intermediate guitarist knows that's the truth - we feck around with this sort of crap for hours.
Daaaamn! When I first heard it, I thought "Yeah, that's sort of cool, and the volume pedal gives it a good effect, but it doesn't sound too hard" and then at 0:45, my mind was BLOWN. Joe Bonamassa is a boss!
Derek Trucks has a mostly blank expression when he plays live. To me, live music is in small part a visual thing. I like to see someone who looks like they are having a good time. At least that they are feeling the music. I mean, if the musicians don't look like they are getting into it, can you expect the audience to get into it?
Spoken like someone who's never been to a DTB concert. People get into it, let me tell you. It's a truly amazing experience. Besides, it's music. When I'm enjoying a concert, I have my eyes closed most of the time anyway. You get into it because of the sound. I mean, if you didn't, then why would audio-only music exist?
to me the intensity in his face is not so present in these rather symmetric figures. The volume thing generally tends to become a gimmick . At his level it takes no real effort to do and sounding a bit like a violin doesn't make it inherently emotional. to me its more like he is doing an efficient live stunt and conveying how we should feel about it. But then poses can lead to real emotion. self suggestion is a major part of live art. Its showmanship and part of that is illusion.
you might aswell title this video how to use a volume pot.... the first guy i ever saw to do this in a cool way was y malmsteen but bonamassa takes this whole think one step further Gread vid and thanks for posting
Why do some guitarists make faces like they're taking a dump or something? They get themselves all sweaty, like they are trying to push out a big log, possibly a giant sequoyah. Just curious.
If you've ever played on stage, you'd know that stage lights are VERY hot...this accounts for the sweat.
As for the faces...well, he's just really getting into it. If you have ever had sex, you'd know that you sometimes pull a face you didn't know you were pulling. This is called a "cum face"...not be confused with covering a girl in Jizz.
about face - it's totally out of control and this is completely invidual. i play by myself and people often wonder about mine - i tried to control my face, which i can, but then i lose the 'feeling'. so i stopped;)

That's a bunch of crap. Watch a video of a band called "X". Billy Zoom is their guitar player. He plays with a grin the whole time. He is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen and heard. All of that face making is just "posing".
i've played many concerts and when you feel the music and love it like I do you cant control it you just in to it and you can't play the blues with out gettin ugly with it trust me. Those stage lights put out some heat too so you gone get sweaty
To answer your question, No, I am not fucking retarded. I did not say that he sucks. all I said is that it just dont move me. It is awesome that he can make the guitar sound like a violin. But once again It just dont move me brow. a song should make you feal it and take you away, no matter what kind of music. Joe Bonamassa may be awesome for you, and thats all that should matter. I mean no disrespect to anyone. And once again Joe Bonamassa is a phenomenal guitar player.

It takes a lot to play like this. Even someone as talanted as Joe has to study and practice to make this seem easy.
