Thanks for the tip. It is due to differnt types of DVI cable. When I used the one with a few pins missing in the middle, it flickered. After I switched the cable to the one that has no pin missing in the middle, it works.
And the solution (after trying EVERYTHING) was another dual link dvi cable. The dual link cables I got initially were trash. Tried two of them and they didn't work. They were dual link cables but don't work as such. Got another brand and it worked instantly.

glad things worked out for you i have 4 of these and they've been pretty good so far..
i ended up replacing all the factory cables with Acoustic Research AP097
