The popular pirate radio frequency to listen on seems to be 6.925 MHz on USB (upper sideband). I'm an SWL, and have had luck hearing stations there, especially on holidays and weekends.
I own that same transmitter and believe ir or not, I got a range of several hundred feet with it. I slid an antenna from an old shortwave radio on top of the antenna already on it. I rebroadcasted internet radio with it.I have a feeling the FCC wouldn't of liked it but it was fun
@p1r4t3z I modded one of those things 15 years ago. had a standard 5 ft metal pole outside, used speaker wire as a conductor for the low power from the original antenna and fed it to the pole. As a result got a 1/4 mile radius on the unit. Id say that's pretty damn good!
@TNFlightNurse I knew many people (including myself) have bad grammar, but I have not seen something like that. No one uses caps, punctuation, correct grammar, or spelling. (Forgive me if mine is wrong.) You managed to beat me to this.
This station should work. I have one too..........It will broadcast abt. 1,000 ft. You can increase the power by using two AA batteries instead of one. Use jumper cables to hook up new power supply. It won't burn it up. I've tried up to 9 volts. Still works.....
Love it. John busted me when I was 19 in Federal Heights. I have now spent some time coding repeaters so whoever finds the pirate radio station, will have a bucket of parts. And as you know, can't find it if it's not transmitting. Keep up the good work.
Hey dude pls help me I just got raided with 10 watts of power and the FCC says that I was interfering with aircraft radio but that's kinda impossible cuz the next airport is too far away form da station. I'm only 14... What fine can I expect?
@SmashCOBamberg idk bout the fines but if you played any music you might have to pay royalties on that and for future reference if they said you wehre interfering with aircraft radio that means your operating on too high a frequency and a plane might still be able to pick up some of your station if its flying close by
@SmashCOBamberg Are you serious or is this a joke? If you're running at 10W, chances are you're close enough to interfere with an airport, especially on some frequencies. What frequency were you broadcasting on?
@benjwgarner I was broadcasting on 105.9 and the RF filter seemed to have failed so it caused harmonics on 125.25 MH/z... And the next airport is more than 60 miles away
@SmashCOBamberg If this is your first offense and especially if you weren't aware of the harmonics, you won't generally be fined. 125.25 MHz is used for voice ATC communication. You were probably interfering with airplanes flying over you. Your harmonics were received by the planes and blocked their reception of others on the frequency. If you do this again, get a better filter so you don't endanger planes and the people on them.
LOL. Actually, that setup is honestly not that far from that used by many pirate stations. Visited several for an article year ago and saw a huge collection of jury-rigged junk slapped together by individuals who clearly had no idea what they were doing. It's a wonder they didn't electrocute themselves. Anyway, their on-air antics were often preposterous, yet they couldn't understand why anyone would want to shut them down.
oh wow. .the end of the video made me laugh.. in 1992 jon sprague busted me .. wow. that is crazy. i did not know he was still around.. we are in colorado springs..
hahahahahaha I love this. I'm assuming you had a pirate radio station that got shut down? Or maybe you're supporting the FCC's efforts to crack down on such? Either way, it's hilarious! Good work!
is this ilegal?

@DeweyButtz Remember this is a tongue in cheek video, if the little transmitter goes 10ft, I think you're lucky.

This was very helpfull, Thank You, but what about the frequence? And, how far does the radio works.I mean the distance that this can be listened.

This is actually a satire, what we did in this video doesn't actually work, it's dedicated to the person noted at the end of the video.

OMG! "State of the art" broadcast equiptment :o)
LUV this video!!!
what would have been even funnier, would have been if you chose "Rick Astley's "Never gonna give you up" song
that would have been humourus.
if you don't get that, try looking up "Rick Rolled" on you tube, then you will understand. :o)
