Most European countries that I know of also have private hospitals where rich people can go for emergency surgery . . . let's hypothetically say that only 10% of the people can afford necessary, though non-emergency surgery--would it be better to have 100% of people get this surgery, though it would take a lot longer, or would you prefer that 10% got the surgery?

No. I am against the government forcing people to help one another. I am against socialism. It should be done by charities, not by our tax dollars. Just like we shouldn't be in Iraq or any other country in the world, or giving billions to Israel, the Middle East and Africa. If the government wans't "forcing" you to pay taxes the police, fireman, army would all be privatized. When fire departments were privatized if you didn't have the special placard hanging outside your house and it was on fire, the fire men would just drive by. I never said anything about paying taxes. I did say that I didn't want my tax dollars to be wasted on welfare and other social programs. While the fire department and police are technical social entities, these would be the only exceptions because they are important for public safety. Welfare, social security, etc. are disincentives for working and reasons why socialism always fails. The army would not be privatized because the constitution states for there to be a standing army.
