after hearing this version from the Martins a few years back when I was in Law school, it became my favourite hymn, even when it's sung in my language, which is Fijian, as it is the 2nd Hymn in the Fijian Hymn Book
The lyrics are from the Scottish Psalter of 1650 which is a singable paraphrase of the Psalms There are 5 verses. Here are the first two
1 All people that on earth do dwell, Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice. 2 Him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell, Come ye before him and rejoice.
3 Know that the Lord is God indeed; Without our aid he did us make: We are his flock, he doth us feed, And for his sheep he doth us take. 4 O enter then his gates with praise, Approach with joy his courts unto: Praise, laud, and bless his name always, For it is seemly so to do.
@globalnettuber And here is verse 5: 5 For why? the Lord our God is good, His mercy is for ever sure; His truth at all times firmly stood, And shall from age to age endure.
@MyJames74 It is from a very old Scottish paraphrase of Psalm 100. The tune is called "Old One Hundredth". I have posted the original lyrics for you. The Martins have opted to use more modern language in just a couple of spots. The singers here also blend in the Doxology since it is usually sung to the same tune in churches today.
I love the lady at 0:08 that says "SANG YALL!" That was so funny.
