  • This is really great. I first learned about The Pretty Things when I bought Singapore Silk Torpedo, but later I found out how that album was nothing as good as what they used to do. I had already heard Bowie doing this and loved it but had not checked out the original artist.

Thanks for posting this fantastic clip.

  • Jebeno obozavam ovu stvar!!

  • un des meilleurs groupes sixties ,j'aimes pretty thing , ecoutez LSD66 ,the best sixties!!!

  • Thanks for uploading this! It gives people who were born in the 90's, like me, a chance to hear real music :)

  • Bring me up!!

  • they were never big here in America. they received no airplay. Since I was an exceedingly early Stones fanatic and the Pretty Things drummer played for the Stones I got into the Things, I really, really love "Honey I Need" it sounds so "essential rocker." I liked their slower R&B and their later stuff. I"ve a double album that spans their entire career...play it quite often

  • @47docrock Viv Prince!

  • Yeah , better don´t ...

  • This is a great recording, Pure R+B

  • I'm with pemfloyd wish I could bring back the 60's first time round I never appreciated what went on

  • Jeff Lynne must have been a fan....."Don't Bring Me Down" by ELO

  • The STONES HAD NOTHING on these GUYS!!!! BRILLIANT!!!!

  • Sixties.....If only we could turn back the clock.........

  • the best r&b band....

    roy

  • Top quality... brill music... I LOVE IT.. thank you very much indeed for the upload... another gem gem for my collection...

  • Fantastic recording! Add 1000 stars!

  • I met Phil a couple of times in the 70's, a really lovely man.

  • up the gas!

  • LOL.

  • A french version of this song exists: see Ronnie Bird - Tu perds ton temps... Who was the first ?

  • Pretty Things 1964, Ronnie Bird 1965.

  • @AriHP

I'm French, so i thank you to ask the question!

The answer is Below Pretty Things .1964; Thanks " hawkmoon03111951"

  • Same name but Different song uselessjoe .

  • I thought ELO sang Dont bring me down..whats up with that?

  • Lol, they did another song with the same name.

  • Phil May --YES

  • uuuuuu

  • most underrated band ever!

  • I believe that Viv Prince went to my old school, Loughborough Grammar.

  • Im from L'boro and I heard that too. Cant seem to find him in any old Pretty Things videos though.

  • my first single...

  • I still can't get over what their management was thinking when they decided not to tour the US back in 64-65'. Just listening to this early recording and other live 60's videos of the band is a clear indication they were a force to be reckoned with, and would have gone far had they toured the states.

  • All those old numbers were real gems...Rosalyn, Don't bring me down, cry to me, Big City, Big Boss man,and ofcourse that great ROAD RUNNER. I think they lost their great sound when the drummer died.

  • what drummer died, viv prince left the group and skip allen is alive.

  • I just spoke to Viv Prince on the telephone on 8/11/09. He is doing just fine. He was very friendly, but shy. His drumming defined The Pretty Things! I will be calling him again!!!!! Anyone have anything you would like me to pass along to him?

  • Thanks for replying to me.i was hoping that viv prince is still alive.

If you phone him again i would like you to ask him on his thoughts about why the pretty things never hit the big time

  • You're welcome. I am calling Viv on 8/17/09. I will be happy to ask him your question. Will let all of his fans know his reply. I told him how large a fan base he still has in the U.S. all these years and how he is regarded as one of the greatest drummers in rock history.

  • Just tell him that there are still some people out there

who love their music. I saw them live a few years ago, I would go to their concert again... anytime :)

  • From the time The Pretty Things were GREAT. But when I see them on You Tube with recent video's it is clear...that had to stop 30 years ago! They never matched this great quality!

  • How many are as good? They were all young, full of enthusiasm and pushing the boundaries. The Who were my heroes but I never went to see them after about 1974, their best days were over.

  • @hawkmoon03111951 The Who were once great and The Who Sellout is my favorite but I stopped listening after Tommy.

  • "tu perds ton temps" par ronnie bird en français

  • A million times better than David Bowie's cover.

  • Hell yeah!

  • the pretty things, the kinks, the who, the rolling stones... you gotta love the british invasion, right? ;)

  • Very underrated. Great music! Can we have more please!!

  • thought this was Phil May singing?

  • nicely covered -in french- by Ronnie Bird "Tu Perds Ton Temps" ; the video is available on youtube

  • i think you will find the vocalist was viv prince

  • So many great Pretty Things clips have been posted - huge thanks to all responsible - but there are big blank spaces for 2 of their biggest songs, 'Don't Bring Me Down. and 'Rosalyn' (from back in the day I mean - not the re-formed band). I can't believe they didn't make clips or do TV appearances playing those songs so there must be some footage out there somewhere. If you have a clip of either of those songs please post it.

  • OMG how wonderfully 60's!!!!

  • can't beat a bit of Pretty Things!!

    sick li'l tune! *****

    Lee

    Liverpool Mods
