Everyone, I have made a video about boy bands and the music buisness and talking about underground music. You TUbe have tried to dissable the sound but I put the text in the "Description" box under the screen. Please come and check it out!
wtf is this guy talking abt in 2:40 that punk was dead cuz cbgb's had no scene anymore ,,,, and what abt the bad brains making the evolution of punk to hardcore
Henry Rollins saying hardcore punk is as american as whatever is completely ridiculous. By the early 80's punk was in most countries, and there were plenty of hardcore bands all around the world. Discharge probably influenced more hardcore bands globally than any US band.
What I really dont like about this overall well done and researched documentary is the unexplainable omission of the whole American 80s hardcore punk scene. I mean, they show Limp Bizkit and Blink 182 and they skip Bad Religion, Social Distortion, NOFX, Descendents and the Misfits? YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME MAN

2:42 "by 1980 punk was over" wtf? punk was just getting started, arsehole. this whole film ucking sucks, basicly. all its fucking does is talk about the sex pistols for 85 percent of it.
The arty fuckers always get too much credit, the posh kids/adults are the ones with the friends in the media and they feel safer talking about them. They'd have to look at a real egalitarian view and class.
@JBPURCELL I remember seeing a punk documentary and they said there was a band on the West Coast of the US (I forget the name) who's singer dressed in drag, and if anyone made fun he beat the shit out of them, I find shit like that awesome haha
@spittingbloodhc That band was T.S.O.L. the singer's name was Jack Grisham that documentary you are talking about was American Hardcore and Brett Gurewitz from Bad Religion was who told the story about Jack Grisham being in drag and whoopin ass. Grisham has his own Youtube channel and he also recently published a book about all of his experiences as a west coast american punk rocker.
@tbone2872 yeah that's it! The one where the one guy's like "yeah that girl passed out and I pissed on her face, so what?". I love T.S.O.L.! What's the name of Jack's book?
@spittingbloodhc The book is called American Demon. This is the link to the video where he reads exerpts from the book to an audience in TKO records in LA. youtube.com/watch?v=Zi4pszt_sOc
I cannot think of a single English Rock artist who EVER suggested that R&R didn't originate in the US. From Lennon to The Stones, Bowie to the Sex Pistols, etc.. you don't know what the fuck you're talking about
call me wierd but the part of the vid where jello was on stage, the way he was singing reminded me alot of ol dirty bastard the way he moved around. i thought that was pretty fucking awsome. maybe o.d.b. seen a couple of dead kennedy shows when he was growing up lol
yea i really dont like them. the whole no-wave movement is ridiculously boring, to listen to anyway. being in the scene watching it all happen might have been more exciting or something.. but i just cant stand listening to any of it.
yeah good point. i think they've really taken the idea of punk way too far, i mean punk used to be the sex pistols but over the years they've attached all these randoms different types of rock n roll to it, garage rock/psych, surfadelica, psychobilly, no wave , new wave, grunge etc etc etc. it's almost like if it's not led zeppelin and pink floyd then it's punk. i mean come on how the fuck are the 13th floor elevators punk
Fuck, Rollins is awesome

Yeah, and James Chance became James White so he could record this jazz, disco sound, which is far from punk.
