i love this movie, but like some of you below me there was 1 thing i didnt like and that was that they would show Dale winning a race during a caution, and then all of a sudden Rowdy Burns was in front before the green would even drop.. and when The Intimidator wasnt in 1st he was nowhere to be seen on the track.
Tim Richmond was a very talented race car driver to bad miss hurst shifter girl gave him aids but this movie was a great tribute to him and im sure Rick Hendrick gave them alot of info about Tim for the movie cause some of it is really true like the 50 laps your way 50 laps my way test session Tim Richmond was as good as Dale Earnhardt and had the same style he would get in anything and melt the tires off the car and just to bad Tim Richmond never drove for RCR
Yes, Cole Trickle was based off of Tim Richmond and Harry Hogge was based off of crew chief Harry Hyde, however it hasn't been confirmed if Rowdy Burns was inspired by Dale Earnhardt (but they are both similar) and Russ Wheeler was inspired by Rusty Wallace.
I agree about Burns being inspired by Dale Sr. Both very respected, intimidating champions. Both driving a scary black car. Both very aggresive and daring on the track.
But i dont think Wheeler could be inspired by Wallace. Wheeler was an asshole while Wallace, even though he could be quite aggresive (something that is a requirement if you want to be a successful driver), was never such a sonofabitch.
the only thing i didnt like about days of thunder was how they would cut together footage from sometimes 3 different tracks, like here where they show the daytona s/f line at the restart, and in another race the wall says atlanta when its phoenix or something (cant remember)
also sometimes it seems like they take more than 4 turns. w/e though still a f'ing awesome movie
Nice touch with just the score playing. I loved this movie. Reminds me of a time when Cruise wasn't a whackjob maniac. This is how I want to remember his career. Thanks a lot for this.
i LOVE that movie, but let me clear a little detail here:that "final duel" sequence was ACTUALLY filmed at Daytona International Speedway,my dear nadeau
Awesome job. Where on earth did you find the score? I have been trying to find it forever. I have the soundtrack but I really want the score Hans Zimmer is freaking amazing.

I like how at the end Cole decided to help out Rowdy driving the 51 car one more time.

Hans Zimmer ROX! His scores are always so great!
This movie is very cool, but IMO it would be nothing without a great soundtrack!

My favorite part is this.
"I want you to hit the pace car!"
"Hit the pace car?"
"Hit the pace car! You hit everything else on the track, I want you to be perfect!"

Wait, which "final duel" sequence are you talking about?
nadeau1064 4 years ago
The only one I like better is from that score cd is "Test Drive". Great for in your car, if you're in a hurry and have lots of empty roads ahead.

Hans Zimmer did the score, but I'm not sure who actually performed it.
