I remember buying a Broadcaster for $350. Back in 1979 these were used guitars. I think maybe Paul Bigsby made solid body stuff before Leo. Gretsch made the Broadkaster Bass. Mine was pretty rough and I have a prototype that has 3 + 3 headstock and champ lap steel pick guards. You have to dig through a lot of other stuff to find them in my house. This includes 2 dogs and me with a gun. These are closet queens. WOW! The Proto type has the LOA signed by Leo.

John 5 is seems to be a great guitar player. Sure he may deserve every Guitar he owns. He may be misled and deluded. My Problem is that He Knows The Price Of Everything, and the Value Of Nothing. What would happen if he got sold a Fake HIgh End Vintage Fender or Gibson Guitar etc. Would he know the difference? Maybe it has happened? John 5 comes across superficial, a bit like a Stockbroker trying to speculate his or her wares..

@petfoodplus you don't drop that much on an instrument on the assumption it's genuine. I imagine he did a considerable amount of research when bought it. Though I personally don't get the point of collecting guitars. Buying them and playing them sure. But I used to have around 12 electrics and over the span of about two years I sold off all except five of them because I simply didn't play them, hell sometimes I forgot I had ones.

the one owned by mick mars is beautiful. One of my teles is the squier (yes, squier, so what?) tele ustom II with P 90´s. Amazing guitar. Really. The black one. Looks great and sounds awesome. , and the ccombination of the p90 sound with the light simple tele body is perfect.

This is what I hate about the whole vintage collectors market. It's all about money and status. Fender designed the Tele to be a cheap, practical, sturdy guitar for serious players. It's a workhorse guitar, the tools of the trade, not an investment opportunity or a hoader's treasure. And I don't think Gretsch actually sued over the Broadcaster name, just threatened to. Leo may even have had a case since Gretsch spelt it BroadKaster which is a significant dfiference.And no-one mistakes
