I was so happy to be in my school's summer production of this. You could say that we followed in this shows production, because i got to play Fruma Sarah.
@michee67 It's not one of the daughters. I think bethnee9989 is saying the character Miryla who is one of the villagers. Tevye's 5 daughters' names are Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava, Shprintze, and Bielke.
Our school is doing this, and I am the Rabbi, and the russian with Fyedka in to life, and a russian in Act 1 scene 8, but other than that i am the Rabbi
@michee67 Sure, i will have it on my Youtube page sometime, there is a group on Facebook, and the creator of the group, takes photos, and takes videos on set.
@WhereBunniesROAR i was cut from scene 8, but yes i was sasha. but im still a russion in To Life, and the perfromances are tommorrow friday and saturday
I am doing this show with my school! I am ensemble :) we are using this choreography and it is soo hard!!!!! I hope we look as good as these people did!!!
I just read the 1971 review of the film in Life Magazine. Amazingly, the critic gave the movie and Topol a not so good review. My jaw dropped. What was he thinking? Today this show/ movie and Topol are beloved all over world.
@piccolo136, I will have to look for that video. I do recommend reading the review though. There is a also a great article on the original production with Zero Mostel in a 1964 issue. You can read them on google books.
I had the honor of seeing Topol in his last tour of "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Orpheum in Memphis last year. Yes, a little older, but he was still funny and fantastic!
Omg I saw this at the golden gate theatre a few weeks ago but a different guy was tevye he had a rough voice the one I saw and I just finished being in it a lot of fun!!
Oh, thank you for sharing this. I was debating over whether to see it when it comes to Seattle this spring, but now I know I've got to go. What a treat! :0)
I saw him in Orlando about a week ago. When he came out everyone in that theater stood up and a huge applause for him. And the same after each monologue and song he did. Wonderful man.
I know this sounds crazy, but I just saw this tonight at OCPAC and after the audience clapped for him, it was SILENT. Whenever that man spoke, every single person was just fixed on his every movement. This particular scene was so perfect, I ended up crying because it was just so simple. I LOVED the show. absolutely loved it.
my school is doing this :) we are performing in a month, I am playing the role of Shprintze.

Topol is one of a kind and makes Tevye easily the most loveable character ever written for the stage.
