@trooskens You just said he's right. Mine are 10kg each and are waaaay smaller, also the difference in size with 10/12/15/20 kg isn't that big. They just get a bit bigger and wider that's all. These are just hollow.
@trooskens I've heard the Iron Sheik can do this with clubs that weigh 70 pounds each. His clubs looked smaller but that doesn't mean they weren't heavier. Still, doing 37 pound clubs is very impressive. Thanks for posting the video.
@elkidsays sheiks clubs were more like 15 to 18.. like a kettlebell when you swing a (say 15 lb club) it will FEEL like a much heavier weight.. this is why WWF put them over as 70 lbs. I don't think anyone swings 70 lb clubs in the over the head jori like the sheik did. maybe over the shoulder but I doubt it since this Gold medalist is using 36 pounds.
This guy must have really healthy shoulders. I just got a pair of 2kg and 6kg clubs and looking around on youtube on how to use them lol. I need to strengthen my shoulders lol.
now while I am sure you can work up to that level of horrific, Hulk like strength, where does all the time go eh?
gotta go to that job and put food on the table sadly. A lot of people are really dumb; its stupid to study several styles of martial arts, and it is even dumber to follow what, 5 different kinds of work outs? All I have is a pair of 10 lb dumbells, a sledge hammer, and my knowledge of Dynamic Tension, Stretching, and Tai Chi, and that's it.
Anyone here feel like swinging a 45 lb sledge hammer, 45 lb dumbells farmer burns style, after doing a Charles Atlas workout featuring 200 hindu squats, 200 Atlas dips and 200 abdominal work outs in addition to the dynamic strength stuff for the arms, chest, back and neck?
You kinda have to do both; train muscles individually and train muscle harmony, problem is you have to emphasize one more than the other. I combine sledge hammer and dumbell swings with the Atlas system plus Yang tai chi, and stretching. I use light dumbells and a light sledge hammer because, well like I said, muscles tear, and you can't have everything.
You have no idea how difficult its to do that. I remember when I used to do bodybuilding and I thought I was very strong and buff but one time I tried to do the swinging with much smaller clubs it put immense amounts of pressure on my wrists because it is so difficult to keep balance of something very heavy and relatively long vertically. I think this you want to shake hands with this guy
Nah, 17kg is about right, I have a pair like that myself... 17kg.... its A LOT more in it's application then most people can understand, I know pro MMA heavy weights that couldn't handle half that weight...
I agree those meels appear to be in the 17kg to 25kg range. Your shield cast of a 45lb clubbell is sill awesome. What is the possiblity of a video of you swinging your 17kg meels?
Oh well thank you :) Yeah strong possiblity I just need to do it. I am working a lot with the 80lb club right now and will do some more Macebell vids soon. But I can see what I can do for you.
Your 35# clubbells will be much easier to swing than those 17kg (33#) meels. A friend of mine has a pair of 20# clubbells and he can't swing (control) either of my 15# or 20# (wooden) meels.
Simply said yes it is due to the geometry of the club (length & shape). To said Meels are better than Clubbells is probably not true. It depends on your goals, and what you want.
The typical Middle Eastern male has VERY little upper body strength and is more comparable in physical prowess to a Western female.

Can you tell me why wooden meels are more difficult to handle?
Is it because wooden meels are much bigger?
I have a pair of 20 wooden meels and thinking of getting a pair of 25 those clubbell.
Now I just changed my mind.
