  • Love this song! Dedicated to my dear Nicky, I love miss you so very much!

    RIP.

  • Great song, ultimate swooner. I have to admit, when I met my husband, I fell hard ... because he was a ringer for Gary!

  • I've been fortunate enough over the years to see Gary Puckett in concert several times, the last time was at Utah lake State Park and he still had that killer voice. He did a rendition of ' Pretty Woman ' that was better than any I've heard, except Roy's......................and Gary is one of the nicest people you'd ever meet.........

  • nice song

  • How could I forget this song? So many great songs came out of that era, the late 60s and early 70s. It's always been a sadly beautiful song to me and takes me back to such a younger phase in my life and how beautiful the world seemed to me then. Thanks. I like.... : )

  • man....u imagine being able to pick up a mike and sound this good.....the ass you can get, wow, lol

  • Musica de mis recuerdos romanticos adolescentes , aunque no entendiera ingles ,solo me enamoraba la musica. Gracias por subirla.

  • an example of when music was MUSIC. teens today live in a world deprived of such great sound.

  • @fixfireleo

    Yep

1 Teens these days as well as you adults have no idea what they have missed out on!

  • It's been over six years, and I'm still loosing sleep over her. Ican really relate to this, and all of Union Gap songs!!! GREAT!!!!

  • @Bobatu2b

Hopefully (unlike me) you'll be over it in 30 years.

  • I sit and listen to this joe south, b.j. thomas, etc. all the classics from a kinder time in my life. I,m 54 and hope to pass on my love of this type music to my grandkids.

  • Always thought this was a great song, I could listen to it over and over again. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thank you tjerwin1 for putting this song is exelent appreciate it.

  • @southamerican888 My pleasure. I'm so greatful to have grown up with such great music that still stands the test of time.

  • @tjerwin1 We were very lucky musically speaking. i hear this and I can feel what I was feeling like then.

  • Great song. It really touches on how you can feel about someone that was made for you but the two of you are not together anymore. No one can ever take there place.

  • @tjerwin1 amen friend - always

  • @southamerican888 Thank you for putting this song on,it brings back such wounderful memories of my childhood. Thanks!

  • To dannydutchboy2011 still love you ba bye

  • HOW DO I SAY THIS...KITTY...I M DYING THINKING ABOUT U AND WHAT U DID TO ME A SUCH A SHORT TIME....ILL NEVER GET OVER U AND THE EXPECTIONS OF WHAT I REALLY WANTED WITH U...I'LL NEVER GIVE UP..TELL ME IF U WANT ME,....I 'LLDIE, BUT THATS FINE.....NOBODY COULD EVER MAKE ME FEEL THE WAY I DO..IF IT WOULD HAVE WORKED OUT, WE D BE ENGAGED AND ON THE WAY DOWN THE AISLE, BUT IT DIDNT..SO MY PAIN WONT END TIL I MEET SOMEONE LIKE U...IS THERE ANOTHER LADY LIKE THAT..X0..DAMN...

  • Great Classic song :)

  • The Union Gap had a string of good hit songs and to me-- this unsung song is one of their best

  • This song stands alone in my best songs of the 60's, entrance of song is an invitation to remembering back then.

  • Gary Puckett wanted to date my mom but she turned him down. She met him at a club in Montebello around 1972 or '73 and my mom was already juggling two boyfriends as it was, ha ha. He wasn't "hippie" enough for her.

  • @MattHatter Wow, Smoking leaves did affect one's mind, making the right decision.

Why can't she juggle three at the same time ?

  • @TheFiredragon52 Well she never liked GP & TUG anyways, ha ha. My mom was into Cream, Hendrix, Janis, Steppenwolf, etc. And by 1972 she REALLY could have cared less. My mom was seeing a guy named Mike Crawford who played trumpet in a band called Formula, who were like a mix of Delaney and Bonnie and Chicago. Gary was too straight.

  • @MattHatter As far as I knew, Janis and Hendrix gone too soon by overdose themselves, Clapton has been miserably in drug most of his adult life, top with the lost of his young son,and I'm sure Steppenwolf would riding

be HIGH on their ' Magic Carpet Ride.' Hope it turn out O.K. with Mr. Crawford and your beloved Mom.

Yet, Gary's still around and kicking !!!!!

  • Some people are great studio performers and some are better live. I saw Gary Puckett in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s and he is just as good now as ever and his live performances are as good, if not better than his studio cuts, in my opinion.

  • My FAVORITE Gary Pucket and the Union Gap song!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • Thank god for satilite radio this is all I listen to 60s and 70s BG

  • when i was a LOT younger.. i had this strange crush on Gary Puckett....dude was ugly...tall skinny but beautiful voice...

  • @aquanina61 LOL, what was ugly about him in 1969? Just curious to your insight. Back in late 1969 when I heard this song on the radio, my image of Gary was a man, about in his early forties and I had no clue that he was just 26-years-old. I didn't even know how he looked like. I've met him three times in person, at his concerts. He intermingles with the audience after a performance. In the fall of 1969 I was a lad of eight, entering the third grade. The best of musical talents era!

  • @aquanina61 I agree! This song brings back lots of kool memories from 1969, just like Chicago's Questions 67 and 68, Three Dog Nights "Easy To Be Hard," Sly and the Stones "Everybody Is A Star," "Good Morning Star shine ," by Oliver , Glen Campbell's "Witchita Lineman" and "Love or Let Me Be Lonely" by Friends of distinction, and Gary Pucketts othe songs, "Don't Give In To Him" "Woman," and The Coup links "Tracy" and Flying Machine's "Smile A Little Smile For Me, Rose Marie."

  • what can i say kick ass song

  • Wooooow, I just listened to Marty Robbims sing My Woman, My Woman, My Wife.

I cried through the whole song. Sooooo sad, but very tender and sweet

  • This is the best :) Thank you for sharing this video I LOVE IT !!!

  • Sin duda una magnífica interpretación, muestra de talento, sencillez y belleza, gracias por subirla.

  • @victor661224 Me alegro de que incluso las personas que speek español se puede apreciar lo que puedo subir.

  • The woodwind instrument sounds pretty much like an oboe, but can also pass as a soprano sax. I play sax, flute, clarinet, oboe and bassoon; and have played both oboe and soprano on this song. The soprano sax can recreate the sound of an oboe on this song, if you don't use any vibrato.

  • sheddski, Do not even THINK of believing that 56 is an 'old man.' You have a lot to look forward to. I am 64, feel 44, It is amazingly easy to go 'down hill' as opposed to up hill. Look forward to your future, one can always hope - right? "You never know." Indeed. Good luck to you.

  • if you grew up in the sixties, you cried a few times over a "broken heart' to this song

  • Nice song, why don't they make music like this anymore?

  • @Mr012467 I'm 52, and can only guess that the younger generation....heck, I have no idea. lol

  • every time i hear this song all i do is go back in my mind when it was a hit on am radio in the boston area and i was maybe 11 now i,m an old man at 56 WOW! you never know

  • @sheddski Read the above note I wrote to you OK? from Monarch798. Sun. 7/24/11 6:54pm eastern, Roseville, MIchigan. Good luck to you sweetie, from a woman who knows, grew up in the 60's. Loved Gary Puckett and the Union Gap too.

  • Gary' s voice is amazing! All his songs came out when I was very little and I loved them all up to this day. He could put any "Idol" singer to shame!

  • the best song they ever did my fav too good band gary can rip ...can he? god booming voice...

  • I spend all of my tiiimmmme ...outta my miiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnd ...over you.

This band was so freakin' great!!!

  • Bella canción.....y que lujo haber tenido como Prof. de Musica a Gary Puckett...Whow

  • Oh yeah! One of my favorites. My sister had this on 8-track & would play it when we'd cruise thru Oklahoma City in her bright yellow '69 Dodge Super Bee. She had a crush on Gary Puckett...Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdink, John Davidson & all those other handsome lead singers. We'd cruise to the Charcoal Oven Drive In for a burger. Those were the days! Thanks Norma for making such great memories for your bratty little brother. And thanks for posting these great song from the great bands!

  • @StevieB1362 I remember my sisters taking me to Charcoal oven after N.W. Classen footall games, we would also go to Coits on 39th and Penn.

  • Just a wonderfull song , esta cancion no tiene madre ! nada que ver con las

maricadas de hoy , regeton ,bachata , rap y demas baura

  • Such a great song brings back so many memories!!!

  • I always thought it was Gary Puckett and the Onion Gap. Can you imagine being that wrong??

  • simple and pure!

  • Another example of how good your voice had to be to be a lead singer of a hit group

in those days, you better be able to fricking sing or you weren't getting on the fricking

radio. Imagine coming on American Idol and sounding like this, oh right there was

no American Idol, and he was so damn good, he wouldn't have needed to go on anyway.

  • I was stationed in the P I, in 68, 69 when i first heard this song means so much to me. Met so many great people there. Some i still care and think about. I pray to God they are still around. Some even went to Viet Nam, and i join them there again. Love the song.

  • oh i love all their songs..memories from teenage life...soooo nice tnx

  • GARY WAS (AND STILL IS) ONE OF THE TOP 5 VOICES (in any respect) IN RECORDED MUSIC HISTORY. Wanna hear a great (lessor known) song of his? It's "HOME", recorded in 1969 (a sad story of a homesick GI in Vietnam, who "doesn't" make it home). Incredible. Comparisons can easily be made to "The green, green grass of home" by Tom Jones. No wonder so many people blog about the good 'ole days of pop music. It'll never be repeated, and nothing nowadays even comes CLOSE to songs like OVER YOU...

  • @b4plasticcars You are SO right!!!This is great music, unlike the monosyllabic garbage about killin' peace officers and slappin' the ''ho''around that seems to permeate the airwaves today. This stuff is Gold!!!!!!.OMG,you can even understand WTF the lyrics are and you can stroll down memory lane every time you listen to it...........

  • @borecleaner1 Not to worry the youth of today will be able to stroll down memory lane in their future only they'll have to have a gun with them when they do.

  • Incredible voice, Gary Puckett

  • BOOMING VOICE IT WAS DESCRIBE.....GOOD BAND FROM SAN DIEGO...LOT OF CHART HITS.......

  • Great voice.

  • When I lived in Detroit during the '90's, the local "Oldies" station played this song constantly, and it eventually got on my nerves. I moved away from Detroit 7 years ago, and I miss this song terribly. Thanks to You-Tube, I can listen to it whenever I want to.

  • His tenor voice is so hard to top--he is an inspiration for all singers--the tone, interpretation, breath, remarkable singer--still at it!!

  • It still amazes me that they could fit so much emotion and feeling in a 2:25 minute of song, and you feel fulfilled and satisfied, like you've been on a journey or experience, all in just over 2 minutes! Such talent!

  • @blueeyesol Gary Puckett is great!! Can anyone download "Now and Then" from the "Incredible" album?

  • @blueeyesol Some of the finest recordings ever made were 2:30 or less.

  • I saw Gary at the Orange County Fair in CA in the 90's, great performance.

  • One of the greatest voices in music history. And Gary Puckett and the Union Gap are one of the reasons I consider the 60's as the greatest decade in rock & roll music.

  • This is a great song, but you only hear it once on the Radio.

  • Have been a fan of Gary's since I was 11 years old. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to see him perform live. Hopefully one day.

  • @livetoshop1

I saw him at the Orange County Fair in the 90's. He gave a great performance.

  • One of the best voices in rock music. It seems like every time I try to post a GP song it gets blocked. Glad you go this posted.

  • I love all of Gary Puckett's music but this song has to be my favorite by them, and one that I certainly can relate to, at times. So perfectly written, it's one of those songs you hear where you really feel like they can be talking about you.

  • This takes me back to the days of AM radio. When the sun went down, we could tune into far away stations like KOMA in Oklahoma City and KAAY in Little Rock, and fall asleep to great songs like this. It was the best time for radio.

  • @JaNaBeMa I'm from St. Paul, Minnesota and I was 16 when this came out and also played my AM Radio at night listening to ALL the great tunes from the 60's and heard those two same stations in Little Rock and Oklahoma City.........God Bless, PKman

  • @pkappel006 After school it was KDWB with True Don Bleu. Then, when that station started to fade (we were about 100 miles from The Cities) we had to switch over. Ah, good times! :)

  • Big Bob you are right.....The greatest sounds of all time were in 1968-1969...

  • SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!! ive been lookin for this!!! THANKS FOR THE POST TJERWIN1!!!!!

  • extraordinaria canción

  • Gary Puckett and the Union Gap were a huge part of the greatest sounds of all-time---the sounds of 1968 and 1969.

  • Gary Puckett is from Hibbing, Minnesota (the same town as Bob Dylan).

  • Did I tell you I love you today?? I want to be the first to wish you a great day!

and the first to tell you I adore you!

    FB

  • brings back memories of my high school days that I never will forget....

    Thanks for posting.

  • One of my favorite songs of all times, even though it really makes me sad. Maybe that's why I love it. It strikes deep into my emotional side.

  • fantastic,what a voice,

  • This is my favorate of all GP songs, back then music was real not this damn rap crap that they do today!

  • Those were good times back then. On top of great songs like this, we had Motown and the Beatles, too.

  • @utubemusiccritic dont forget the yardbirds, byrds, grass roots, mamas and papas, cream, rolling stones, and many more man what fire power. too bad im a 90s baby but im happy to listen and appreciate the 60s music and i was lucky enough to see gary in concert =D

  • @utubemusiccritic Don't forget the Lettermen!

  • My favorite of their hits! thank you!!

  • Cuantos iniciamos nuestro primer noviazgo con esta canción? Cuántos sentimos que el corazón se nos salía por la garganta al declararnos a nuestra primera novia en la secundaria??? Sencillamente Inmortales!!!!

  • @04TOTOMAN. Estas en lo cierto. Que tiempos inmejorables aquellos.

  • @lickss Yes, I agree. The 1960's and 70's had the best music. Even kids born much later have expressed on youtube postings, that they wished they were born decades sooner, cause much of today's music is not really music. Even they are aware that our society we grew up in was much better than the one they were raised in.

  • @lickss Hey, we grew up in the exact tife frame. I too, express alot of sentiment during that era. I frequently would go to my old Elementary School and walk the grounds, thinking of his music. Peace Out.

  • The instrument was an OBO that made the signature sound on this wonderful classic. Now when was the last time you heard the word/instrument OBO on a song? Yep, late 60's had a few but non better than Gary and the boys! Thank you.

  • thank you anthour great song ive spent half the night listing to this band i and australia loves gary puckett

  • COMPARED TO THIS STUFF...MUSIC TODAY IS NOT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH FOR HONORABLE MENTION. IF THE YOUNG RECORD PRODUCERS OF TODAY WOULD JUST PAY ATTENTION TO THIS OLDER GENRATION, THEY WOULD LEARN SOMETHING!!!!!

  • 1968 relived

  • love love this song..So many memories of young love gone by...FIRST HEARTBREAK.. ETC.. WISHING FOR THE OLD DAYS GONE BY SO MUCH..

  • great song!! it takes me back, and thats always good for me

  • Another great song by this fantastic group from the 60s thanks again tjerwin1

  • Damn, should've savored Olides 104.3 WJMK more often, they played this all the time, back when I was in high school.

  • O wow, I have been looking for this song for the past like 12 years!!! GOD bless you YOU TUBE. And Im not that old I was born in 1985. And I love this song. I know great music when I hear it.

  • Had my heart broken when this song was popular....She is still "in the prison walls of my mind, there's still a part of you left behind".....What a voice GP has.......

  • uncle buck miss you so much the song sez every word nighty god bless

  • Jerry Fuller was a great songwriter for Gary Puckett as well as other artists such as Ricky Nelson, etc... Wish he was still writing these kind of songs.

  • Why am I losing sleep over you.......cause I am stupid and brokenhearted

  • @carroll1956 Maybe born there but Gary puckett calle San Diego Home!

  • @typestter Hi there. How many years did Gary Puckett live in San Diego? He currently lives in Clearwater, Florida. I wish I could have seen Gary Puckett perform in San Diego, in late 1969 but I was only eight-years-old and in the third grade. His voice / talent and sense of humor is awesome. Saw him three times in person at concerts.

  • @Helivz All I Know Is That He Started His Band Here! I was Just a Kid Then Myself! But we take PRIDE in Him Bieng a Local Kid!

  • 19 YEARS OLD AND OFF TO VIET NAM THESE SONGS BRINGS IT ALL BACK
