this video helped me so much, however when I open up compression there are no options, and sense I can't change that the video a 15 second video is 300 mb, please help
@Nyancatproductions Record your video in HD. For full 720 you need to have a resolution of 1280x720. With Youtube I think it just depends on the height as aspect ratios are different. This recording was done on a monitor that was 1024x768. If your source video isn't HD I wouldn't recommend upscaling as it would reduce the quality of the video despite the fact it is in an HD format.
@SuperMastrMind Probably a version difference. That or you didn't click file -> capture AVI first. This video is about 2 years old. I need to make a new one but I don't have a capture card anymore.
My igrabber capture card doesn't even show up in the list of devices. It is connected to the computer, and makes a sound when I plug it in and out, but it doesn't show on the Virtualdub program.
@enslaven00bs, how many Y adapters do I need in order for you to hear sound from your Dazzle DVC100? And can you send me a personal message on how to set up the Dazzle with the Y adapters included? If not, can you show me a video you recommend? Thanks! :D
How do you get such low file sizes? I have you same compression shown, and get like a gig every 30 seconds. My resolution is 720p, but it still shouldn't be that much bigger.
@GoodCoffeeInc All I can say is play with the bitrate. I do something a little different than what I did when I made this video. I initially record with a very light lossless codec like Huffy or Logarith with uncompressed audio (this will give you huge files) and then send the post-processed video into MediaCoder and encode with h.264/aac stuff in an MP4 or FLV (This will give you something reasonable). I can get about an hour in 350mb after MediaCoder does its thing.
Dazzle (and Easycaps) have proprietary audio drivers so you can't record audio from the capture device. You must use Line-in. The fix shouldn't cost more than $10 ($5 if you look around). You'll need 2 extra Y adapters and a 3.5mm Male to Dual RCA Males. Use the Y adapters to split the audio signal so you can run the 3.5mm Male to Dual RCA Males to your Line input on your PC.

Do you know how to use this with a DVC 170? VirtualDub keeps telling me the source format isn't compatible, even if I match the formats.
