  • @Domaboob better for?

  • Which is better live, TS9 or the Boss Metalcore?

  • @Domaboob neither of those are even remotely similar. A TS9 is an overdrive pedal and a Metalcore is a distortion pedal. What amp do you have, what genre of music are playing, and how do you intend to use the pedal?

  • I love me a good TS.

    Found a pretty terrible one

    Search JD Screamer Tubescreamer Clone

  • True by pass?

  • I use it on my pedalboard with an ibanez jemini.. I use the jemini's higher gain and ts9x's sweet feel tone. It sounds incredible.. totally recommended. Must buy. Strangely but the build quality is 5 times better than ibanez jemini's. It's made in japan unlike the jemini which is made in china.

  • Where it's made this pedal?

    Peter

  • @retepcnuk japan

  • This or a Boss SD-1 too help increase my gain from my amp?

  • PLease may you tell me which pedals i need to make a really nice sound in the style of alternative rock like Coldplay or Snow patrol?

    many thanks felix

  • @Corbettbeatz lol alternative, but in all seriousness theres too much to choose from,in MY opinion either the proco RAT,Boss Ds-1,Fulltone Fat boost or the zvex Super hard on

  • What is the difference between overdrive and distortion? Someone answer plz haha

  • @plazma619 Overdrive is the sound that you would get if you were to crank a tube amp, so any pedal that says "overdrive" is trying to emulate that sound. "Distortion" is often the exact same thing, same types of circuits in the pedals that is, but usually describes a heavier, more aggressive sounding pedal, less concerned with trying to sound like natural tube break up, more concerned with heaviness. Not a huge difference, so you'd have to pick what sounds best to you. Cheers!

  • @plazma619 An overdrive is often used to give an already overdriven amp a bit of a boost. It helps increase gain, shape the tone, and often increase some sustain. They're run on your amp's crunch or lead channel. A distortion is ran on an amp's clean channel and basically distorts the signal to give it a "metal" tone most of the time. They're not used to boost your OD signal.

  • Whats the difference between Overdrive and distortion???

  • whats a good pedal for like a deathcore sound?

  • I sold my 1979 TS9 original, with all the serial number info, in pristine condition, on ebay for about $400...about two years ago. STUPIDITY. When I sold my 1972 Dodge Charger Special Edition, I couldn't have been more sick. Keep that old stuff man!

  • @dmemswiler Ohh dude!

  • What is the difference between a tube screamer and a pedal ?

What is the difference between a regular amp and a tube amp ?

Someone help please, Im losing my min here!

  • @brobro565656 A tube screamer is just the name of a pedal. Every pedal has a name but they're all pedals. As for tube amps, they're just guitar amps with tubes in them. Tube amps are also known as "valve amps". They are the preferred choice of many guitarists for their warm tone and smooth distortion sounds. They have glass tubes in the back of them that need replacing every-so-often. The alternative to tubes is solid state amps which still sound good, but tube amps are better.

  • @brobro565656 Tube screaner is a pedal, one of the most famous pedal in the world, a tube amp is an amplifier that uses tubes to amplify the sound, you will have to listen to each one to notice the difference, it's a matter of taste, there's no way someone could explain the real difference between two kinds of amps just with words

  • I believe this thing can be heavier than this, because some metal musicians that I know are using this pedals or the ts 808

  • Mat theafy is using This Pedal ?

  • Matt heafy is using This Pedal ?

  • Is this pedal good for van halen?

  • now that's a legendary stompbox

  • I want to buy a Tube Screamer, but I'm not sure what I need, TS9DX? TS808? TS9? Whats the difference?

  • Nice when you turned up the gain and chorded. Nice.

  • True bypass?

  • what happens if i play that one before an already overdriven amp, like a jcm800????

  • @blueheadphoneguy if i understand this correctly basicly a tube screamer will just enililate any clean tones from your guitar so if you have a high gain amp and you are already usng distortion clicking a tube screamer will just add a bit more of distortion and tone.

  • what was that intro song

  • can anyone tell me the tabs for the riff that lasts until 0:25?

  • This pedal rocks!!!

I play mostly SRV on it as you can see on my channel, and combined with theFender Blues Deluxe, I get all the original sounds,

  • i dont like this pedal but you can try

  • Is this pedal good for Paul Gilbert?

  • @Fernandez3995 He used to have one of the Keeley modded versions of this pedal on his board, as a matter of fact. The stock version would probably get you at least 90% there.

  • can't anyone play killswitch engage with this thing atleast? god damn.

  • @BeholdTheHeadOfGod You'd have to boost an already-overdriven amp to get anything near that level of gain with this pedal.

  • @maxinator The Metal Zone is awesome for chillin at home trying to learn Pantera on a 10 watt Crate, but it gets totally muddy in live situations- in my opinion. If thats the sound you want, I say go for it! But if you want a clear sustain with real bassyness and heavy crunch- get a tube amp with an overdrive pedal.

  • What's up with the Metal Zone? I have it and fricking love it!

  • Get the boss Ds-2 or Ds-1. both great pedals. ds-1 the older, cheaper and simpler model, but is still great. the ds-2 is great, more effects.

  • HELP PLEASE TELL ME A GOOD DISTORTION PEDAL TO BUY I GOT METAL ZONE AND I DON'T LIKE IT

  • @THEMrTNMUSIC ocd

  • HELP! i have a fender super reverb (silverface) i have no crunch channel or smthing like that.. with the ts-9 will i have much gain for more hard rock styles? accept blues and funk and all this....

  • Why are people talking about the Boss metal zone when this video about Ibanez tube screamer. What made Boss metal zone pop up in your head?

  • @GuitarGod94XxXx

    overdrive/distortion thread?

  • i have a metal zone, i felt really great when i played with it. but now after i see this vid, i regret to waste my money for metal zone

  • I don't know about this pedal. I was looking for an dist/od pedal with screaming high trebles for leads. But the ibanez tube screamer has to thick of a sound for me. Good for blues jams, but not really thrashy fast playing.

  • @okamasphere hey man the tube screamers be it the ts808 ts9 or this turbo ts are great for metal more so then that metal zone everyones talking about.

the trick is having a tube amp, not a digital line 6 or a hybrid type of amp, i mean a real tube amp with power tubes and preamp tubes. this is not meant to add a lot of overdrive, just help your tube amp use its own balls.

its used in metal rigs the world over check one out.

  • Thanks for posting this demo. Quality is just fine, some people just wanna gripe all the time.

  • Im a beginner and have been playing for almost a year now, but i still dont under stand any of these effects and stuff. This equipment seems difficult to use and understand, i wish i new all this technical stuff :(

  • @HarryDude54 don't worry about it so much. it takes about two years for a player to get an ear for tone, usually. you'll wake up and go "i don't like my tone... how do i fix it?"

that's when you need to look into equipment seriously. start with your amp... try messing with all of the knobs on your amp and also try different ones out and find the one you're most satisfied with. then look into pedals like these. but right now, just focus on your chops, and tone will come to you.

  • @TheMetalHeaD256 well said :)

  • Metal Zone sucks. If you want a good heavy pedal get a Sanasamp Tech 21 GT2

  • Ah,the old 65 amp soho.

  • dude like its supposed to eliminate all clean but i still hear a little clean there. is there any way to make more fuzz out of it?

  • @thatcoolG for a distorted/ fuzz tone this probably isnt the best choice of a pedal. something like a fuzz face or a big muff would fit the bill better for something like that

  • @ChetZenor i wouldnt buy a fuzz face for the simple fact its a face staring at you

  • would it be cool if i use this pedal to a pop punk band ?

  • @aditsetan yeah, use it as a boost on existing OD (amp channel) though. :)

  • @aditsetan yeah but your in a pop punk band thats the only problem..:\

  • @befrankis well let me guess, you're in a metal band that ignores any new stuffs around, right ?... listen, i'm not really a pop punk fan, i'm just a fan of music, whatever it is, but i choose pop punk cus it fits me well, is that wrong ?

  • which one is better, this one or the mxr zakk wylde ?

  • @aditsetan

depends what your sound is....... zakk wylde - metal

    TS - classic rock

  • Underrated pedal, turbo mode provides realy nice c

  • @Ilovemyfender2 In which alternate reality are Tubescreamers "underrated"?

  • 5:16 broken beat & scarred?

  • why would you post the video in such a low qulity..... fuuuuuuu

  • @gregliam That was the only option 2 years ago. We do have a video library on our site with high quality audio! Thanks,

    -PGS

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Very Humble! =)

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos funny cuz i couldn't find it bruh

  • @gregliam Come on son, this video is from mid-2008. 240p was what YouTube converted videos to.

  • Andy!

This should be played with a Fender American Hot Rod Strat

and a Fender Blues Deville or a JR!!

  • @FreaquedeMusique A bugera vintage 22 does a great job or even the vintage 5.

  • Would this be a good pedal to use as a solo boost with a Marshall Plexi?

  • Would this pedal only be good for overdriven solos? or can i use it as a main distortion,,,ooooorrr should i invest in a fulltone ocd..

my sound is based around Hillsong United..i play a fender tele thru a hot rod deville 4x10

  • is a good use for a tube screamer or any other od pedal to boost the guitar during solos?

  • @butterknucklez yes actually i use this pedal for just that purpose, its what they are really good at. i have a clean, then a switch box for my amp into rythem distortion, then this pedal for just that extra boost and its fantastic. I use a prs through a Vox ac30 and also an orange dual terror. hope that helps

  • is a good use for a tube screamer or any other od pedal to boost the guitar during solos?

  • Great on clean tones for that in between sound , on 2 channel amps

  • such good tone for grand funk railroad

  • why is it DX which stands for Deluxe when its cheaper than TS9s, TS808s and them reissues?

  • don't get the metal zone.

    just don't.

  • @xPsuedo man if u know how to set it right awesome

christian olde wolbers uses one and his tone is fuking awesome

  • @xPsuedo Too late dude..about 7 years too late..lol

  • @xPsuedo

    Yeah metal core is better

  • @0ccupationalHazzard not even

  • @xPsuedo oops..

  • @xPsuedo i have one and hate it!

  • @xPsuedo

    why not?

  • @xPsuedo Amen.

  • @xPsuedo Why no to Metal Zone ? or you don't have money to buy one?

  • @ManipurTV I have a Metal Zone and I want to get rid of it...it sucks. I'm going to get an overdrive or a tube screamer

  • @ManipurTV Metal Zones are terrible, if you want high gain distortion go for a Blackstar Dist-X

  • @ManBearPigInc I don't get it, are new metal zones made with different parts or something than they were in the 90's? Cuz I've had mine since '96 when I was a kid and it was what helped define my lead playing style. I learned vibrato and pinch harmonics that I found didn't sound as good with any other distortion.

  • @xPsuedo i agree1000% percent with you, i have the metal zone, anyone reading this dont get it! its terrible!

  • I can, ONLY, afford one pedal for soaring overdrive lead work. Should I get the Blackstar or the Boss Metal zone?

Mind you, it's not for chords but mainly lead work, requiring long singing sustains.

What is everyone opinion, out there?

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST PEDAL TO GET, IF ONLY 1?

I will be putting it in front of my vintage Fender amp.

    thanks

  • @novanine9

Definitely Big Muff, probably the green russian...

    Whats your budget?

  • @novanine9 buy a blackstar ht-dist. metalzone sounds fake, thin and fizzy.

  • @novanine9 Look up the Analogman Sunface pedal. Depepend what sound your looking for, i use it too boost my solos, or dirty up the cleans. i play pink floyd, led zepp, etc. works great for that stuff

  • Remember the band "The Darkness".. This pedal really reminds me of the sound they got on their first album "Permission to Land"

  • is this pedal like..overrated?

  • so im buying this later this week, thank you

  • Anyone know how this (in the video sounding AMAZING!) pedal would work with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (40W full tube) and a John Petrucci Signature?

  • I have a keeley mod on mine and I just use it as a booster. Gave up my distortion channel awhile ago, its all about that dirt baby

  • Have it.

    Love it.

    Get it.

  • Why do people use these when running through brilliantly toned stacks? Just wondered, couldn't quite figure it out :P

  • @1208covers it really takes your tone to another level. Putting an overdrive on your stack is like taking a blanket off of the speaker and lets it shine

  • i'm tempted to this one because EJ uses one, what do you think? i've never bought a distortion pedal before. . .

  • @Wiltonibanez its not a distortion, its an overdrive

  • what distortion/overdrive effect i should use to fit the pop punk/alternative rock music ??

  • @aditsetan boss ds2

  • @aditsetan A Boss SD-1 is affordable, lots of used ones for cheap and practically impossible to go wrong with.

  • do you know how fucking rare those are

i haven't seen one anywhere on the internet or guitar shop

i'v only ever seen and used one because my brother owns from when my step dad gave it to him, my step dad got it quite old

  • @surferboy14lp theyr're heaps popular in australia.

  • @surferboy14lp Umm, try Musician's Friend.

  • Overdrive > Distortion Pedals any day.

  • which pedal is better, this one, an ibanez tube screamer or a boss sd-1 or anything else?

  • @butterknucklez :i Have boss SD1 sound is smooth,warm,,,

  • how would this pedal work with a mesa boogie dual rectifier

  • thank you for not just doing a stevie ray impression!

  • @Nicksbia This is an overdrive pedal. If you need a disto, looks elsewhere, like a Greenhouse Effect Nobrainer or a Rat. I have the TS9DX and only use it when I'm using my G&L Legacy and my amp gain at 2 o'clock, something to boost the already muddy tone. The pedal alone as a second/dirt channel will not do. It's good to add color to your dirty tone or get a Texas style tone with a single coil (cool tone btw).

  • i wanna ask, what overdrive/distortion effect i must use to fit my band's music (kinda pop punk like all time low, blink, etc.) ??

  • should i get this opposed to a distortion pedal

and is this better than they ts9 and why

  • @Nicksbia Most distortion pedals sound too digital for me man, I had the Boss Metal Zone, but it sounded nasty.

  • the sub button isnt yellow anymore. Btw

  • i have this pedal and the 3 modes are clean, hot, and ts9 do i have some old model? i got it used im not sure of the year can someone tell me watsup?

  • I'm kind of wishing I didn't sell this pedal now when I had it years ago.

  • Awesome review.

  • Haha i think stevie ray used two of these in sequence to get his balls in yours face tone.

  • Just thought you should know that this video convinced me to go out and buy a TS9DX. Not that I needed much convincing. It is a Tube Screamer, after all.

  • I love the setting when the tone knob is set all the way back. Really warm tone!

  • What kinda setup are you using, it sounds fucking awesome!

  • What is that song you played at the beginning? I know it I just can't figure it out!

  • lamp amp and this shit up there will make you guitar sound like wlkasjxlkajsxkljalwxaj

  • I mean from 0:80 ... not before that...

  • would this pedal be good for an 80s rock/metal tone?

  • @greene2438 if you set your amp on overdrive, and use this over the top of that, alot of 80s hair bands did that, but i dont know if thats what ur after

  • How do you think it would sound if i mixed this Tube Screamer with a Boss Metal Zone??

  • @101Guitr like shit. get rid of the metalzone and you'll have a good sound.

  • @101Guitr Metal Zones suck, if you're into metal distortion I would recommend the Hardwire TL-2 Metal Distortion

  • @101Guitr metal zone is crap. if you want metal distortio, buy boss metal core.

  • A lot of vintage tones in there.

  • Great demo guys! Really gave me a great idea of its tone. I'm just wondering if this will fit into my Boss BCB-30 pedal board. Can anybody help me out?

  • Will this pedal be able to give me a heavy sludgy mastodon/baroness/neurosis tone? when boosting the already overdriven Marshall vintage modern head? the head by it self with my les paul is pretty close but im not getting as much gain as i would like, i've used the tube king distortion but it squeals like crazy when you finally dial in a decent tone and even another noise gate doesnt really help that. If this isn't what i am looking for can someone recomend something else that is maybe?

  • nova drive or this?

  • you guys should demo the keeley modded version of this pedal the "keeley ts9dx flexi 4x2"

  • Nice demo !! I also sincerely appreciate the fact the guitar is in tune !!

  • I heard that Padge for Bullet For My Valentine used this but it sounds nowhere near Bullet tones

  • @ShredTerror

he probably boosted his amps distortion with it to get more harmonics and stuff

  • @ShredTerror Padge probably uses this in addition to his amp's distortion

  • @ShredTerror He probably uses it on his amps overdrive channel to get more of a fuller distortion sound. They are perfect for that kinda thing

  • @ShredTerror bands like those use to boost their already distorted sound

  • @ShredTerror

That's because if he uses this, he's using an already heavily overdriven amp and puts the tubescreamer on top of it to push his amp even more.

  • 2:00 sounded a lot like lazy days and crazy nights by tesla

  • Looking for a really heavy Distortion or Overdrive pedal. Any Suggestions. Under £150?

  • what's the first song you play it sounds sick!

  • Hey okay. So question about this pedal. If I were to put this through a VoxAC5CC1 would I be able to get some metal and post-hardcore tones? I want to be able to play things like Dance Gavin Dance/Lower Definition to some heavy tones like say Necrophagist/The Faceless type deal.

  • @punkmusicmetal I highly doubt that. Why you have a Vox for that kind of music is beyond me

  • @punkmusicmetal why is your name punkmusicmetal when you want to play some douchebaggery music? If you wanted a amp that could do everything buy either a Line6 or a Hughes & Kettner switchblade.. Otherwise this pedal won't help you, get a cheap crappy pedal like a Metalzone or a Macho Metal pedal if you want to play "core" I'd use this petal running through a Marshall JMP or a Sunn, any kind of clean amp that takes pedals because i play 70's rock / 80's hardcore punk music..

  • What does he mean by 65 amp soho?

  • stupid question i know.. but can this only be used on a tube amp?

  • @wandy5454 no you can use it for any amp you want.

  • Hey i am planing getting some pedals to my pedal board, i play almost everything in the rock genre. I play Les Paul. if some of these pedals are good or bad, then answer me please.

Tubescreamer or Vox Satchurator Vox Timemachine delay or MXR Carbon copy delay Boss FRV-1 fender reverb Boss CE-5 chorus or MXR black label chorus

  • @Runelaier Add both distortions, MVR delay,MXR chorus

  • from 0:00 to 0:06 kicked ass i would like to know what tone and the tabs to that riff

  • @Ericclapton325 just figure it out by ear dude, it's not that hard.

  • What I wanna know is this: will a pedal like this be able to give you the hard rock sounds, like what Guns n' Roses, Kiss, Aerosmith, and other groups like them use?

  • @UrukHai659 Try and check the carl martin PlexiTone - this is more Stevie Ray Vaughn/Clapton/Mayer/BLUES. Plexitone gives you a marshall sounds which is more heavy..

  • will this at least sound ok through a solid state amp?because i cant afford a tube amp,i have a marshall mg 100 watt halfstack, and i want to get a tube screamer,i just would like to know if i should hold off on spending 150 bucks.thanks

  • ibanez guitars are the best

  • i just bought one and it kicks so much ass! I can use the ts9 setting and get the badass vintage tone or switch to the 3rd chanel and a nice modern tone that I can use for heavier stuff. it kicks ass!
