  • Made me teary :'(

  • Epic scene.. I cried listening the song and see Kenichi trying help to Tima..

  • I know exactly how you feel. I was holding back the tears at the very end of the movie and but when it was over I had to let it out. I was 12.

  • This scene is nothing short of a masterpiece in film-making.

I first saw this film as a kid with my older sister and father in an out-of-the-way indy theater in downtown Austin, and I'll never forget it.

  • This is one of the very few anime that really made me feel like crying over the death of a character... so sweet. When I first saw this movie, I was completely shocked when she died. I was like, "NO! OMG!" I really wasn't expecting that (T~T) ...

  • epic scene

  • best anime ending ever!!!!

  • Thanks for uploading!

  • Does anyone know if the people who did this have anything to do with Kikaider, the animation seems similar, as well as the sadness.

  • this was my fav. scene in this movie.. the song was so contrast to the destruction..oh i LOVED it.

  • This movie made me cry , this is really good stuff

  • I cried during this scene in the DVD...

  • this really is so much more than a simple anime, its really a great animation movie

  • best anime ending ever, everyone shold see this.

  • The soundtrack is amazing too :D

  • THis movie is so tight

this scene always makes me wanna cry

  • I love this movie, and this is my favorite scene...

  • This is my favorite part of the movie. Spectacular explosions, perfect music... kinda reminds me of Fallout...

  • One of the most impressive animated films--anime and otherwise--that I have ever seen. I cannot imagine this scene without this song.

  • I saw this anime 6 years ago, but i could always vividly remember this amazing scene and song, paradoxal...It must be one of the most amazing scenes I've ever seen in an anime.

  • woah..what an irony at 3:48..ray says:sing a song children XD anyways what a great movie

  • dis my fav scene!!!!!! love da song.

  • Love this scene as well

  • beautiful

  • The animation is just beautiful. The music was actually very fitting, in a bittersweet way-judging by the relationship between Kenichi and Tima.

I cried so much watching this. I love this scene.

  • quite possibly the greatest destruction scene ever!!!!

  • I found this movie on the PSP for five bucks at a flea market. I so got it.

  • Watch me destroy the world, while I play unfitting music.:D

    I love this song :3

  • as an animator it is painful to watch this destruction scene cos it must have taken ages

  • Beautiful!Loved it,gets 100000/5!Faved as well!So sad though!

  • I saw this with my girlfriend yesterday, and we were making out, and I told her I couldn't stop loving her :$ to this song!

I think the animation to this film, is fantastic, trust the Japanese to come out with some on the best animé films and influences ever.

  • must have been romantic then!

  • Very beautiful and sad. This and the ending credits theme aswell. The movie is a masterpiece.

  • Excellent movie, loved it so much. Been so long since I've watched it, I feel like going and renting it now :D

  • i first saw this film when i was ten aswell.

i can remember wachting it on tv about 15 times.

after 4 years, i finally got it on DVD.

if you like manga this is definitly worth buying

  • as the song goes i cant stop watching this, jeez this was a really sad scene :/ but great movie. glad i found this

  • saw this when i was 10, still the best thing 5 years later

  • Nice Working Of His With What Been Said Below And That You Can Love Anything As Long It Makes You Happy. Also Pallyrulez Like I Agree With Attic... Wish There Was More Like You On The Internet Even Though I Don't Look At It Movies Like That But After You Saying That I Should Start Look Like That Way Too In Whihc I Thank You.

  • You are most welcome.

In truth, there is a lot more to this movie than what I've said. The animators did a great job illustrating the story with storytelling techniques (e.g. pay attention to the "Angel Scene" as opposed to this one).

I've watched it nearly a month ago, and just yesterday, I found myself humming the song and remembered the story...my heart felt sore even then- it was That memorable

  • i loved this movie the first time i saw it likr 5 years ago and this just reminded me how awesome the ending is... amazing.

  • so epic <333

  • This had to be my overall favorite part in the entire movie, my favorite song. It's a refreshing reprise from all those dramatic orchestras and such, because this...it just FIT. I couldn't believe I hadn't liked RC before this, and promptly went to look him up and download some music x3 Fantastic; I cry every time.

  • how powerful is it when rock presses the button and everything goes silent. then this plays while everything blows up. wow.

  • I love that movie!

  • I can't help but feel sorry for Tima.

An innocent and kind little girl who(the word "which" did not appeal to me as much), in a way unfortunate yet unavoidable, was exposed to so much violence and such heartbreaking news about herself and reality. Her transformation into a terminator, was perhaps the most bitter part of the story (who would like to see a good person go bad!)

  • The choice of the song by Ray Charles, for me, amplified that bitterness, for it was like a recollection gimmick of the "better days" in the past between Kenichi and Tima--a stark contrast with this scene and a gruesome reminder of the quality moments that were forever lost.

  • I absolutely love the way you worded this. I wish there were more people on YouTube--and the internet--like you.

  • Thanks man.

    I really like this movie!

It opens up to the issue of a possible scenario of how mass produced AI can widen the gap between the wealthy, who got richer by getting more efficient and zero pay workers, and the poor, who got superseded by robots and lose their jobs and value in society.

  • The rhetorical question, "Who am I", used here was fantastic! It really makes you think about how could one define an android like Tima-- if she were just like the other robots, then it'll be easy to define, but she's not, she's a perfect duplicate of a human being with human characteristics--how can she possibly be defined as a robot or as a human being?

  • In a way, it's so very sad that because of her unique condition and mechanism, she is the only "being" who cannot give herself an answer of who or what she is.

    "Who is She?"

Makes you double think about making super AI or complete human cloning.

  • This is a theme I love about the better Japanese anime, movies and shows alike; obviously reflecting from the older generations who remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Osamu Tezuka did an absolutely amazing job with this plot and story, because it's both sad and beautiful at the same time. This is why I also love Miyazaki's work--it has the same simple, human themes that reach us and help us ask questions that would otherwise remain unasked. On the subject of AI, I'm not for it, for those reasons.

  • Yeah! Miyazaki. Good to know that so many people know about him (and Tezuka) in a good way.....it does them justice

  • very insightful

  • i love this movie

  • Wh-Who Am I- I?

    Best Destruction Scene Ever

  • beautiful... just plain beautiful.

  • This part always makes me cry. ;_;

  • Ray Charles owns this scene

  • best ending ever

  • i was with a normal impression when i was watching the movie, but whe i saw this i went "WOOOOA, THIS IS A REALLY GREAT MOVIE"

  • Amazing.

  • ooh i remember this movie it was really good... the beginning of the song goes so well with the first explosion...i should watch it again..it looks like the whole thing is on here..but if its the dubbed version i ain't watchin' it >_>;

  • When I first saw the movie, when the song started I burst into hysterical laughter, just the sudden outburst of what seemed totally out of place music from the build-up to this. But as the scene progressed... yeah, I cried like a baby >_>

  • beautiful...

  • i bloody didnt like this scene tina!.....

  • To be totally honest I've seen anime films much better than this (not that I dislike the movie) but this scene is truly spectacular, one of my favorite scenes ever, the english dub is pretty good too although I still think the Tima's Japanese line, "I am who?" has more impact than the english line.

  • sorry but it's all about cowboy bebop

  • this is one of the greatest anime movies ever the last scenes are the so great

  • oh aye

  • I'm Gonna Ask My Mom If She Can Get This For me!!!

  • This scene was so heart breaking. The way the song was used, It was so eerie. I caught myself humming it and remembered this scene, I started crying.

  • This is one of my favorite movies ever... not only anime movies but overall movies. It's ending sequence is majestic.

  • havent seen the film cool animation though not making me cry the robot thing tried to kill tht kid

  • Just watch the movie. THEN you'll understand why it's so sad.

  • Excellent movie. You should see it.

  • My goodness. This is beautiful.

  • Oh Man,When They Aired This On Regular Cable, I'd Watch It All The Time! This Is My Favorite Anime Movie EVER!!!! This Part Made Me Cry So Much...And Rock Had To Die. But Anyways, This Movie Is A MUST SEE!!! Very Good.

  • I hate the secene just before this! Poor Rock... at 00:30 you see someone lying on a pile of rubble if you hadnt noticed, it looks like Rock!

  • i get goosebumps every time i watch this

  • One of the best scenes in cinima history. I hear people say that the song is out of place in the scene but when you see the whole movie its hard to imagine them making this any more perfect.

  • This scene makes me cry over and over :(

  • They were originally going to use some sort of orchestra song instead of this one. But Personally I prefer this ending with this song, its very beautiful.

  • Really? Interesting. o: I do prefer this, though. The era the song is from fits the flavor of the style of animation and the art setting itself. xD It is really beautiful.

  • i think they did a good job with the english dub, I've see a lot worse

  • Really a brilliant match!

  • this is gay. No im joking! Its one of the best films of the century. i searched just for this part. I saw this film about 5 years ago, and while I can barely remember the plot, this scene is forever burned into my memory.

  • yes, u took da words rite outta my mouth -__-.....

  • I love that Song....

  • Oh God this scene... is so sad. The irony of the happy/sweet song just makes it ten thousand times sadder when she slips...

  • I Played this scene over and over again when I first got the dvd.

  • This is my favorite scene in the film! I LOVE the juxtapostition of the action and the song! BLOODY BRILLIANT! one of the most powerful and beautiful executions of a near brilliantly perfect ending.

  • whoever on the animation staff first pitched the idea of having this song for this scene is a GENIUS.

  • its not an AMV. this is the movie is actually played out

  • This is my favorite part too :'(

  • my fav anime =)

    my fav ending maybe

great scene ! thanx for up

  • I am crying all over again! Everytime I see this scene I cannot hold back the tears! Poor Tima and Ken-ichi!!!!!!!!! And the Ray Charles song just fits perfectly and makes the scene also beautiful, despite the major tragedy! Thanks for posting! This movie is definitly one the best anime movies of all time!

  • OMG! I forgot about the song part! Now I remember that at this part I cried the first time I saw it.. I'm cryin' now! Lol

  • the first time i saw this was ages ago and I couldn't stop crying

  • Me too!

  • this scene pwns

  • i cried so hard when i saw this movie.

  • brilliant and sappy scene

  • This song give the plus to the scene is amazing...i could cry listenig this song just like Komm susser tod in the End of evangelion

  • I seen this move alot of times and i love this part and like the song. 5/5 for it

  • that was an amazing explosion and the song was just perfect for the occasion, sad ending but it looked awsome especilly when the generator did the exploding atom effect. nice

  • Poor Tima...I guess the sad thing was that no matter what, she was a machine and in the end, slave to her fate.

  • I think I rented this 1 time & only saw a little bit of this. Ray Charle's music is nice so is The Metropolis movie.

  • so moving but...it is beter at japanece

  • yea he was that's why he stayed to rebuild her. parts by parts

  • was he in love with tima?

  • Yes, very much.

  • When the movie came out i rewind alot of times just for this part.....great movie

  • me too!

  • Oh man, this is just fucking beautiful..Im actually sheding a few tears right now :'(

    So amazing

  • I have never been given goosebumps quite like this before. Emotion like that is hard to top.

  • I think I'm mentally unstable now. I have a hefty amount of work to do and all I can't concentrate. I can't seem to take my mind off this film thanks to the climax, and I've even started reading fan fiction to try and find closure to the story (the ending photograph doesn't necessarily suggest Tina is fully reassembled and reactivated).

I've had a couple of personal grievances in the past, but none of them have made me cry half as much as this film does.

  • this movie kicks ass this is the best part loved it!!

  • this scene was so well done having the contrast of detruction but in amongst the love story and a sweet song

  • its much more sad in the jap version cause she doesnt stutter before she dies.

  • welll... this way could be seen as more sad too; insane / mentally torn apart before death.

LOVE this scene BTW; watched the whole film maybe 10 times; this scene, over 100 :P

  • me too movies rarely make me cry.

  • I have to admit the first time this caught me completely off guard. Such a good movie and such a good scene.

  • this scene made the whole movie worth while didnt it?

  • I loved the whole movie but this was just perfect. I have this song on my facebook now. Haha

  • YOU DO!!

    whats the name of it!?

  • I love that movie, and this scene always made me feel...hmm..I would have to say the closet thing would be...Horrible.

and no other movie has made me feel that indepth...This is one of the best Anime Movies I have EVER seen!

  • Aww man, the saddest ending ever T_T

  • Some one needs to post the scene where Tima sits in the chair and starts taking over. This movie, Akira, and Cowboy Bebop the movie are the best anime.

  • Though the characters look cartoony, I like how mature they acted and the story is rocking!

  • I'm with you! i love this scene <3

    >< thanks so much for putting it up! *favs*

  • I was a little dissapointed with this anime, but this scene is fantastic.

  • this is my fav movie of all time! and everytime i watch this scene i cry TT TT but thank you for posting this on youtube! ^w^

  • Brianne Siddall did an awesome job with Kenichi in the dub!! I dont like watching it in japanese all that much (Which is damn rare!!)

  • Wow..Great clip with a really great song

  • This truly is one of the best scenes ever!

  • T_T

  • When I first saw this it was the only time I have been genuinely in awe at a film. I think I was mostly confused, still, it is incredible.

  • who am i? or in the japanese version, i am who?

  • For some reason, I think that "I am who" makes a stronger impression. =) I find it funny that Metropolis has French subtitle options on the DVD, on a random note. XD

  • saddest scene ive ever seen in my life. makes me so sad.

  • THIS SCENE PWNS ASS!!!!!

  • I like this movie. This bit just makes me want to snuggle up to someone special. Tis a sad ending. Thanks for posting
