This is one of the very few anime that really made me feel like crying over the death of a character... so sweet. When I first saw this movie, I was completely shocked when she died. I was like, "NO! OMG!" I really wasn't expecting that (T~T) ...
I saw this anime 6 years ago, but i could always vividly remember this amazing scene and song, paradoxal...It must be one of the most amazing scenes I've ever seen in an anime.

I remember laughing uncontrollably when seeing this the first time. Note to future directors: when you want to make a poignant scene, copying from Dr. Strangelove is not the way to go.
Nice Working Of His With What Been Said Below And That You Can Love Anything As Long It Makes You Happy. Also Pallyrulez Like I Agree With Attic... Wish There Was More Like You On The Internet Even Though I Don't Look At It Movies Like That But After You Saying That I Should Start Look Like That Way Too In Whihc I Thank You.
In truth, there is a lot more to this movie than what I've said. The animators did a great job illustrating the story with storytelling techniques (e.g. pay attention to the "Angel Scene" as opposed to this one).
I've watched it nearly a month ago, and just yesterday, I found myself humming the song and remembered the story...my heart felt sore even then- it was That memorable
This had to be my overall favorite part in the entire movie, my favorite song. It's a refreshing reprise from all those dramatic orchestras and such, because this...it just FIT. I couldn't believe I hadn't liked RC before this, and promptly went to look him up and download some music x3 Fantastic; I cry every time.
An innocent and kind little girl who(the word "which" did not appeal to me as much), in a way unfortunate yet unavoidable, was exposed to so much violence and such heartbreaking news about herself and reality. Her transformation into a terminator, was perhaps the most bitter part of the story (who would like to see a good person go bad!)
The choice of the song by Ray Charles, for me, amplified that bitterness, for it was like a recollection gimmick of the "better days" in the past between Kenichi and Tima--a stark contrast with this scene and a gruesome reminder of the quality moments that were forever lost.
It opens up to the issue of a possible scenario of how mass produced AI can widen the gap between the wealthy, who got richer by getting more efficient and zero pay workers, and the poor, who got superseded by robots and lose their jobs and value in society.
The rhetorical question, "Who am I", used here was fantastic! It really makes you think about how could one define an android like Tima-- if she were just like the other robots, then it'll be easy to define, but she's not, she's a perfect duplicate of a human being with human characteristics--how can she possibly be defined as a robot or as a human being?
In a way, it's so very sad that because of her unique condition and mechanism, she is the only "being" who cannot give herself an answer of who or what she is.
"Who is She?"
Makes you double think about making super AI or complete human cloning.
This is a theme I love about the better Japanese anime, movies and shows alike; obviously reflecting from the older generations who remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Osamu Tezuka did an absolutely amazing job with this plot and story, because it's both sad and beautiful at the same time. This is why I also love Miyazaki's work--it has the same simple, human themes that reach us and help us ask questions that would otherwise remain unasked. On the subject of AI, I'm not for it, for those reasons.
ooh i remember this movie it was really good... the beginning of the song goes so well with the first explosion...i should watch it again..it looks like the whole thing is on here..but if its the dubbed version i ain't watchin' it >_>;
When I first saw the movie, when the song started I burst into hysterical laughter, just the sudden outburst of what seemed totally out of place music from the build-up to this. But as the scene progressed... yeah, I cried like a baby >_>
To be totally honest I've seen anime films much better than this (not that I dislike the movie) but this scene is truly spectacular, one of my favorite scenes ever, the english dub is pretty good too although I still think the Tima's Japanese line, "I am who?" has more impact than the english line.
Oh Man,When They Aired This On Regular Cable, I'd Watch It All The Time! This Is My Favorite Anime Movie EVER!!!! This Part Made Me Cry So Much...And Rock Had To Die. But Anyways, This Movie Is A MUST SEE!!! Very Good.
One of the best scenes in cinima history. I hear people say that the song is out of place in the scene but when you see the whole movie its hard to imagine them making this any more perfect.
They were originally going to use some sort of orchestra song instead of this one. But Personally I prefer this ending with this song, its very beautiful.
Really? Interesting. o: I do prefer this, though. The era the song is from fits the flavor of the style of animation and the art setting itself. xD It is really beautiful.
this is gay. No im joking! Its one of the best films of the century. i searched just for this part. I saw this film about 5 years ago, and while I can barely remember the plot, this scene is forever burned into my memory.
This is my favorite scene in the film! I LOVE the juxtapostition of the action and the song! BLOODY BRILLIANT! one of the most powerful and beautiful executions of a near brilliantly perfect ending.
I am crying all over again! Everytime I see this scene I cannot hold back the tears! Poor Tima and Ken-ichi!!!!!!!!! And the Ray Charles song just fits perfectly and makes the scene also beautiful, despite the major tragedy! Thanks for posting! This movie is definitly one the best anime movies of all time!

The scene was beyond amazing!! but the song by Ray Charles during that scene.. eehhh. It wasnt to my liking. It took the whole sappyness out of the scene for me. Quite frankly, I laughed. lol. The song just seemed so random for the scene.
that was an amazing explosion and the song was just perfect for the occasion, sad ending but it looked awsome especilly when the generator did the exploding atom effect. nice
I think I'm mentally unstable now. I have a hefty amount of work to do and all I can't concentrate. I can't seem to take my mind off this film thanks to the climax, and I've even started reading fan fiction to try and find closure to the story (the ending photograph doesn't necessarily suggest Tina is fully reassembled and reactivated).
I've had a couple of personal grievances in the past, but none of them have made me cry half as much as this film does.
Some one needs to post the scene where Tima sits in the chair and starts taking over. This movie, Akira, and Cowboy Bebop the movie are the best anime.
