@MarshKnute you're kind of a pessimist. If you lived in the ghetto your whole life like me with no car, no money, and no job then you could possibly appreciate a beautiful car like the 911 or the MX-5. hell I would love a damn 1990 miata, or even a Ford Escort but to you I bet those cars are pieces of garbage.
@DynastyPercussion Make sure to click "reply" rather than type a username. If I hadn't re-watched this video, I wouldn't have seen your comment. I did not grow up in the ghetto. Far from it; this past summer I participated in the World Class Driving tour where I drove $1.5 million worth of supercars. Guess what? I no longer have any interest in owning or driving a supercar; they are too flashy, impractical and a waste of money.
@marshknute You're definitely right about that I just wish there were more aerodynamic cheap cars you know? =P It's alright though all I want is one of the following: Toyota Celica, Toyota Supra, Honda Civic, Mazda Miata, Mazda speed3, Subaru WRX sti, Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Hyundai Tiburon, Eagle Talon.
I'd take any of these cars in a manual transmission. I'm not really a fan of getting a "premium" factory made car for a premium price. I'll make one myself for 50k. right?
@DynastyPercussion That event brought me back to reality, and now my favorite cars are cheap and cleverly packaged. Once I graduate from college, I want to buy a used Miata. I love how it drives like a sports car but can be found for 10 grand. My other favorite cars are the Mini Cooper, Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Ford Mustang. I'd much rather buy a cheap car that handles well than buy a more expensive, exotic and faster car which doesn't offer the same amount of fun per dollar.
@marshknute I've seen too many $20,000 msrp cars with a $5,000 turbo out run a $125,000+ car and out maneuver it as well. It's ridiculous how much premium they charge for an "exotic" lol....
"It's evolutionary like that other great drivers' car, the Porsche 911: they took something that worked, and then just evolved it with the times rather than radically changing it every time it needed a quick restyling."
Except that the 911's rear-engine layout did not work and it is now getting destroyed by the Cayman, R8, and GT-R.
@mattyoz0 Cayman: Porsche realized that it out-handled the 911 b/c of its superior mid-engine layout. They therefore denied it a limited slip diff and gave it the less powerful engine from the boxster. The 2009 model was revised and given the slip diff and power advantage it always required, and with the PDK gearbox the Cayman S's 0-60 time is identical to that of the Carerra S.
@mattyoz0 R8: Audi made a supercar with everyday usability to give the 911 a run for its money. Not only that, but independent reviews have unanimously agreed that the R8 looks and sounds better and is more fun to drive thanks to its rear-biased quattro system.
GT-R: I don't know what to say here: the old GT-R beat the 911 Turbo in every test. The new one has 52 more horsepower and decimates the new 911 Turbo around a track (let alone the lesser 911 models).
@marshknute Yeah carrera S is 14 seconds faster around the nurburgring then the audi r8, Yep the r8's got at all over the shit rear engine porsche. Like i said, you're an idiot.
@mattyoz0 Please re-read my statement about the R8. Where did I say it was faster? I said it "is more fun to drive thanks to its rear-biased quattro system." People like you need better performance figures to make up for your insecurities. People like me just want a proper drivers' car, and the R8 is more so than the 911 according to car review organizations. Check out Motor Trend's 2009 Drivers' Car Challenge--the Cayman S comes first, followed by the Audi R8 V8, followed by the humble MX-5.
@mattyoz0 Once more, check out Motor Trend's 2010 Best Handling Car for less than $100,000. They specifically chose the Boxster Spyder over a 911 model b/c they knew very well that the Boxster/Cayman chassis handles better than that of the 911 (they actually stated that in their written review). As for the aforementioned Drivers' Car Challenge, their racing driver, Randy Pobst declared the Cayman S "better than just about any 911 except for maybe a GT3 RS, like the top of the top of the top."
Love these miata's for years now , just for the pure driving-fun and tuningfun it can deliver .
Anyone saying this is a gay car , is just missing out a lot of fun for the few bucks it costs ..that's exactly what it is , want a decent hobby-car for driving or tuning , for not too much money or a pricey badge..go for the miata ;-)
@TheAMGLover Couldn't agree more with you after 12 years of continued miata ownership and thousands of smiles and miles. I will remain a part of the Miata community until become very old and they take away my license, in the mean time they will have to pry my hands off my Miatas. Too much of a good thing certainly doesn't apply with this car.
i love this car!~ i think its a good entry car for beginner 2~ but saying it "loves to be tossed" isnt helping the mx-5 to clear the gay image that some ppl think... once again! its not a gay car! its a great light small resonably priced great handling drivers car!
haha first car 1995 Miata M edition i love it and soon to be racing it.
