It explains how their once usual tradition (that was in fact dying out), got reignited and exploited by dolphin dealers, who would use the dolphins who were not killed as tourist attractions or sell them. It just supply and demand, and its beginning to look like a mini-Taiji operation. However, the high priest of one of the islands has no signed a treaty to protect the dolphins for two years.

Yea, but if the people eat dolphin, most likely their poisoning themselves, seeing as dolphin meat in Taiji, Japan contains 2000ppm (parts per million) of mercury, and the Japanese government regulation is 0.4ppm. Also, the dolhin meat was found in Japanese super markets, covered up as whale meat or other things, and sold to people who weren't poor, plus, barely anyone in the main Japanese cities know about the dolphin slaughter. Oh yea, and 'ScrewAttackChina', cows aren't endangered.

Dolphins aren't an option when it comes to feeding your children. I'm not coming at this from a "wtf dolphins are cute" point of view. Have you heard of Minamata disease? Try Googling it. The Cove used the images from Minamata disease in 70's. All my friends in Japan who are mums and dads are raising healthy babies. I am seeing this and I know this, not just the information from the film. Thanks.
