How do you execute that fast back and forth with your thumb without the thumb nail getting in the way? I've been trying to practice your method and I'm finding it very elusive.

isn't jews harp just a common name for an instrument that works on the same principles of vibration and harmonic amplification?

I played Jew's harp from Mon tribe in Vietnam called Nchan in this video.
Nchan is held by lips.
nice, sounds like flanger on a turntable mixer, very cool.
