  • Japanese battleships were truly the best BB's in WW II. Also, (to me) the most beautiful. Sadly all of them sunk. (Even the Nagato, who wasn't supposed to sunk, but USN was just too ''revengeful''), they would BEAT the USN, if the Americans weren't so numerically superior... :(

  • fuso my love:D

  • The IJN had balls

  • Fucking WMG removing all the songs

  • @GeneralNutcase i was looking for the soundtrack the hummel gets the rockets but almost every single vid of it has been blocked, rlly sucks :(

  • @nietaanspreekbaar I swear if I meet the leader of the company I cut his tongue off

  • @GeneralNutcase whats even the point, we use some already made sountracks in our vid, and we put the names of the original writers in it so what does it matter? :/

  • Nice video, well made. BTW it's _their_ crews (not there)

    hth

  • Even in the Nanjing Incident Recent Research, Chinese historians and communists could not prove the Nanking Massacre. They are still trying showing many fabricated pictures, fake videos which were filmed movie producers, and telling a Chinese victim’s story which was from different areas and different times. China does not have any conclusive evidence, but they have accused Japan about the Nanking Massacre like a barking dog. This is ridiculous!

  • @undertakerRach

After the battle of shanghai,Nippon achieve their objective but with signiicant casualties hence they probably wanted to send a message to the chinese leadership that resistance is futile so to speak.

they are no angels in war,

both side committed massacre and arocities.

Britain did not have the range to attack japan cities,US did.

bomb drop from the sky dont differentiate between civilian n combatant.

  • @hlimkb (Part1)虹橋空港事件(大山事件),Cap.Ohyama Incident, happened on Aug 9, 1937. He was killed by Chinese military near the Shanhai Air Port. This incident developed into the Battle of Shanghai, which was happened on Aug 13, 1937. After he was killed, Chinese military reported that a Japanese military car entered into the airport, and Cap Ohyama and his driver shot a Chinese soldier.

  • @hlimkb (Part2)However, according to the book which is called "Mao: The Unknown Story", General 張治中(Zhāng Zhìzhōng)in KMT committed well- organized laid trap. 張治中(Zhāng Zhìzhōng) put military out of the airport and a Chinese death-row convict who was worn a Chinese military uniform. In short, Chinese made a show Japanese kill Chinese first. Moreover, Cap. Ohyama and driver's shoes, watches and wallets were stolen by Chinese.

  • @ (Part3)The book became a best-seller in the United Kingdom and North America. This book was written by the husband and wife team of writer Jung Chang and historian Jon Halliday. After the incident, Chinese military surrounded Japanese camp. The Mayor of Shanhai called to Japanese consulate in Aug 11, and he said," I'm sorry I can't do anything. Also, Chinese military surrounded Japanese living area in International settlement. At that time, Japanese required to Chinese military withdrawal.

  • @undertakerRach

jung chang committed suicde when writing about nanking?

part of the reason for the dismal chinese resistance against their jap occupation was because they were fragmentated and nippon knew how to play one side against another and the nippon felt it was their destiny just like the manchu who conquered china in the past.

  • @hlimkb it was iris chang and not june chang

  • @hlimkb (Part4)Aug 13 10:30, Chinese military shot machineguns to Japanese living area. This is the trigger of the Battle of Shanghai on Aug 13, 1937. According to the New York Times on Aug 30, 1937, any Japanese soldiers had not gone to outside from barracks when they were under the greatest Chinese provocation. Also, in Sep 16, New York Herald Tribune newspaper said Chinese military provoke the war against Japanese was a fact about which there was no room for doubt.

  • @undertakerRach

a lot of info in wikipendia,

  • @hlimkb Do you know that Wikioedia was written by many Korean and Chinese people? They send a lot of mail to Wiki because they want to spread wrong stories to the world.

  • There's quite a few comments about the really large superstructures. I'm not a super historian but generally from what ive seen as I looked at many many warships... the bridge / observation posts of ships gradually went higher and higher throughout the pre-dreadnought and ww1 eras to provide more effective sight and perhaps rangefinding as the guns also shot further, being tilted to higher angles, as well as simply better designed/manufactured guns of higher calibers.

  • The great irony is that Japan's battleships (impressive though they were) were hardly used in the war- largely as a result of their steadfast belief in the idea of a decisive engagement as laid out by an American strategist (Mahan). So focused on this concept were they that they never truly grasped the changing nature of naval warfare until it was too late, and this despite being unquestionably the best naval aviators at the war's start.

  • But one thing that the japanese carriers did lack of was proper deck armour and not enough aa guns. The japanese=masters of huge superstructures on their battleships.

  • the japanese didnt lack aircraft carriers, actually - they had six for the attack on pearl harbor and more were built later in the war. its just that most of their carrier fleet was lost at midway with their experienced pilots.

  • @Kibbles747 The US made 10 times more naval aircraft worth of carriers during the war then the Japanese made. But a hugely flawed Japanese pilot training program was even greater problem, and the disadvantage at the aircraft engine power - even t the beginning of the war - Zero 930hp, Wildcat 1400hp. Japanese aircraft designers were amazing but they fought a doomed battle.

  • I always like the look of the Ise and Hyuga with their little flight decks, even though they ended up being pretty much useless. The cruiser Mogami was also fitted with a rear flight deck.

  • No anti-Japanese comments from me. I love the culture, people, & land. I only lived there 3 year, fortunately as a child so I was still innocent of spirit. I fell in love with the beauty, elegance & power of the Musashi at a museum and soon after with the Yamato especially when I learned her history.

I hate war because they are all bankers wars. Most Japanese are honorable & peace-loving. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I cannot say the same of *most* of my countrymen. Peace trumps War.

  • They, to me, seems like marvels of naval engineering........ Those tall tower like complex structures look so amazing, like a learning child's creation put to actual use..... Thanx for uploading this video and please upload videos ( not just images and slide shows) if you have any under ur possession.....!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just love the look of Japan's warships in WW2

  • Imperial japan is dead and if japan dogmatically claims the rightousness and dreams to revive its "glorious days", it will taste a harsher bitterness.

  • the reason the lost the war in the pacific was not because they didnt have any aircraft carriers. It was because they couldn't match the industrial capacity of the USA. Even Yamato said he could only keep the Americans busy in the pacific for 6 months

  • Prior to WWII, the IJN had the largest Fleet Air Arm in the world with numerous fleet class and light class carriers (remember, six alone were used at Pearl, seven in the extended plan concerning Midway).

They failed to expand this fleet, and severe losses in both ships and aircrew such as at Midway wrecked the effectiveness of the air arm.

By Leyte Gulf, the carriers were simply bait.

  • 帝国海軍の艦は美しすぎる 他の国には真似出来ない

  • America, I like Americans but during ww2 they where just a bunch of p***ies hiding on the other side of the atlantic. All glory to Germany who stand up and fight against the odds untill the end, thats the true warrior spirit.

Japan must have had it easier to defend where they could concentrate on air and naval units instead of land.

  • @Loaded1mbimage Fuck you asshole. Glory? yeah Dachau,Yadviga,Treblinka etc...... again FUCK YOU!!!

  • @Gideon6640man

Ha ha cool down dont get so upset darling. Treblinka sounds like a place where I would send your mom. Arbeit macht frei!

  • @Loaded1mbimage My mother would kick your ass punk ,hell my grandma can too and she has prosthetic leg.I bet your proud on Unit731 as well.

  • @Gideon6640man

Unit731 is a bit sick, but its a part of humanity. I can understand somewhat why they would do these things. Its military research, sacrifice a few enemies to get a better chance to win the war its just natural. Its not like it was some sadistic game without reason. If Unit731 ever existed, im not sure about that. I am sure however that they could have existed.

Im more upset about the gangbang rape on a blonde in Egypt a few days ago then Unit731.

  • @Loaded1mbimage Ever existed? UM the Japanes records even shot they did smart guy. Re: the reporter in /Egypt I somehow doubt you care.

  • @Gideon6640man

Sure, ok. But I cant verify it thats why I added, if they ever existed. Never seen the japanese records smart guy, so I repeat. Thats why I said, if they ever existed. I try not to claim stuff I cant back up. And yes I do care,

  • @Loaded1mbimage Ok, no need to refight WW2.

  • @Loaded1mbimage unit 731 is a "bit" sick? oh right. i guess its nothing to u japs when u use innocent chinese civilians for human experiments, cutting them up without anesthetics, freezing them to death or hanging them upside down until they die just to test their endurance, or inserting them with plague and diseases to test the effects before infecting an entire village. unit 731 DOEST EXIST and u japs have yet to apologize for it, just like all ur other atrocities

  • @GuanYu89

GuanYu89, Yes ok, but we have a problem im not Japanese. And im very impartial. I dont take anyones side. Im not claiming that U731 never existed, either do I claim that it existed. Note the difference please. I repeat, im not Japanese!

An appology from anyone except from those responsible are shallow, but you might get one some day. If Japan desperatley want better relations with China or, of they does it out of sympathy. But it can never be a genuine appology.

  • @GuanYu89 wait so cutting them up WITH anesthetics is ok?

  • Ok whatever, I wouldnt fight someones grandma to start with. Second, im a 187 cm tall 100kg hockey player. My following question got to be, is your grandma some kind of ugly monster if she could "kick me ass"?

Btw, words like "fuck" dont impress me alot, you can try it on the kids in the block but please spare me. Grow up and show some manner and make your grandma proud!

  • i have a tech based question to u guys. why had each of these battleships high towering structures? didn't noticed that on the ships of other nations.

  • @nofuword Several reasons, including the early methods of fire control, using a range clock method and high-stationed observers to spot fall of shot. Also, these ships were meant to be physically imposing; for the largest part of their lives, they were meant to impress with their massive presence. You will notice that some parts of the mast structures are more closely tied to tradition than 20th century functionality. Great places for lookouts and for anti-air arty, and redundant bridge.

  • @nofuword

    to see far!!!

  • Admiral Yamamoto knew that once the attack on Pearl Harbor had begun, that it was a "MISTAKE" that Japan would ultimately pay for. Yamamoto knew of the American industrial might and American willpower from being in the US years before, and had said once the attack upon Pearl Harbor had ended, that "Japan has just awoken a sleeping giant". That Japan would pay for it's arrogance. Yamamoto was correct. Kim Jong lL will learn the same lesson if North Korea attacks South Korea. Simple as that.

  • @1zesty1 JApan had some good ships... but america was just too big and rich lol

  • Never under estimate the resolve of Americans. wHEN OTHERS PUSH TOO HARD WE WILL HAVE TO DROP THE BOOT. North Korea better watch what happens the next time they shoot a gun towards the south. They want a war and they'll get it.

They do not have the resources to prolong any war and the North will collapse in a heap.

  • @jethromayham If that happens prepare for a WW3 cuz lots of countries are gonna get dragged in this fight ^^

It's just you never know what might be happening in the background as we speak ^^

Peace and may God be with you

  • Yamato and her sisters were a huge mistake. The Japanese would have been much better served with another hundred of their excellent cruisers and destroyers. Yamato and her sisters were a huge waste of resources that Japan didn't have to waste.

  • @jamessavik We're talking about a nation in which the military-industrial leadership came to rule the country without regard to civilian concerns, without any checks and balances, and with only the most token form of diplomacy.

  • Japan didn't lack aircraft carriers.....what was lacking was the industry to replace those lost and the innovation of technology to keep pace or stay ahead of American advances in guns, munitions, radar, and vehicles.

  • Japan presently has a awesome navy.

but it is for self defence.

  • they really took the british based designs to the limit

  • The Jap who lived in the small islands without resources fought against U.S. for nearly 4 years..

Everyone understand there was not the possibility to win from a beginning.

However, the record that a poor small nonwhite nation fought against a very big white man nation will be left in the back in 1000.

  • @no1kiyoko Don't call "Jap" yourself if you are a Japanese. What a fool guy!

  • @asapsh

I asked my mom a question on the telephone. “What time am I a Jap from”

The anser was that “ You are a Jap since you were born”.

I understood that I was a born Japanese.

Is the word“ Jap” discriminatory words in your country?

  • @no1kiyoko It is the same as "Nigger" to African American. If you say that here you will have very bad time. If you can be still alive you are lucky in some places. If you say "I am a Jap" yourself it is the same as "I am a mother fucker."

  • @asapsh

I appreciate your profound and useful advices.

  • @no1kiyoko the US had only five to start CV USS.Yorktown Lexington Hornet Saratoga Enterprise.

At one point Japan was doing so well that the only the USS.Enterprise active with the Saratoga OOA the Yorktown and Lex sunk while the US was forced to scuttle Hornet.

Maby if the US never found out about the attack on Midway or if Japan won Coral Sea or if they managed to destroy US support at home when on the deffencive but it is all a question of What if.

  • @no1kiyoko Acually Japan could have won it was not impossible on the 10th dec 1941 Japanese tactical bombers sunk the Royal navy force z HMS.Prince of Wales BB and HMS.Repulse CA with these ships gone the mighty British fleet was bare in the pacific as the rest of the Royal Navy had three other jobs wresling the Med from Italy deffending are home and supplies.

While Japan had obliterated the small Chinese fleet the US fleet was limping to California and the dutch Australian fleets where small..

  • @thebritish25 No. Japan top Admiral Yamato knew that Japan can never defeat US. Japan hope that US would just give up with its navy in ruined. However, US being stubborn as usual decide to end it only with Japan unconditional surrender. US aircraft carrier launch B-25 bombers successfully against Tokyo. These show Japan that US long range bombers can hit mainland Japan with help of US carriers. Also, US had only three carrier in the Pacific to face the entire Japanese fleet.

  • @916ppl No Japan knew that the US whould not give up

The US is a giant but not invincable the B-25 is a medium range bomber the doolitle raid was a retaliation strike that did minor damage.

the US struggled and japan could have one think if the US did not find out about Midway or if the Japs won at Laytee gulf.

Japan could have won up untill the battle of Latyee Gulf then there plan was to destroy civilian moral by killing as many US troops as possible example ..

  • @916ppl Tarawa Gudalcanal Pelulu Saipan Iwo Jima Okiniwa.

Some people even say if it was not for the US flag being raised over Iwo Jima in that photograph if not the Public support whould have been eroded away and yes japan whould have still lost but they whould have made a treaty.

Anything was possible Japan could have won the Pacific

Hitler could have won the USSR and Britian and then eventualy america

And American could have won Vietnam

    Nothing is impossible.

  • @thebritish25

indeed, all depends on the decisions you make in the heat of battle, sometimes luck is with you, like the conquest of france, or luck is against you, like stalingrad

  • @thebritish25 USA has 24 Essex class carriers on the ways 1941,6 Iowa's,Montana's becoming Midway's,biggest fleet in the world just getting going.PH was going to be avenged.Japan was going to be defeated, only a matter of time and blood

  • The Japanese imperial navy did have carriers, at the start of the second WW...they outnumbered the US fleet carriers...Japanese had about 12 fleet carriers...That was why they were able to bomb Pearl Harbor, as the war went on, Americans out produced the Jap capacity for naval construction???

  • @steveforsane now this they don use guns any more

they use missile frigate destroyers submarines corvettes

  • @steveforsane

And one of the reasons they stopped the rest of the attack on Pearl, they didn't find our carriers there. They knew the power that the carriers held in the comming war.

  • I can't believe Americans sank Nagato after the war in A bomb test such a beautiful ship wasted

  • IJN Yamato the largest American made artificial reef in the world.

  • The yamato is Japanese -_-

  • You realise that in 1941 the IJN Air Force and its carriers was the best in the world, so I wouldnt say "she lacked carriers". More like after getting unlucky at Midway, she had no way of producing even a fraction of the material or training a fraction of the pilots the US did.

  • @AscensionNU Nope, because it wasn't true

  • As a Japanese, it is amazing to find out a non-Japanese collecting these visuals of Imperial Navy. As of 1941, Japan had the third largest fleet on the globe. As of 1989 Japan had the largest economy on the globe. As of 2010, Japan's GDP is second largest on the globe as a single country.

  • @pemultiple2002 can`t frown on Nippon one way or the other!!!

    Love them!!!!!!

  • SEAMEN SHIP!!!!

  • The Yamato was one hell of a ship. I bet if it wasnt sent out ALONE ona suicide mission, i bet it could of wiped out plenty of ships. Yeah anyway, war is a tragedy...Beautiful ship, and a crew of 3000. I think only a few men survived the sinking of the Yamato. Did you know Japan built like 6 aircraft carrying submarines? Look it up, its incredible.

  • @LegendOfJomtein pretty sick thing with the subs lol

  • @LegendOfJomtein

Tja, die Japaner waren da schon sehr eigensinnig. Erfolgreich waren diese aber U-Boote nicht.

  • @LegendOfJomtein Depend. Its 8in guns are massive. However, its firing system suck. 8 heavy armor Japanese ships (Yamato) couldn't hit couple of US destroyers until they got close and sunk 3 of them. While, the Iowa and its sisters score well for hitting fast moving ships. The USS Missouri 16in guns with good firing system would sunk the Yamato before the Japanese sailors realize that their ship is zone on. The Japanese depend mainly on sight, while US radar pick up them far from sight.

  • graf Zeppelin was close to completed. But its doubtful that only one carrier would have made a big difference.. and Germany was very short on ressources..

Its a common misconception that america was superiorely equipped. The only thing that made the US superiour to Germany was wast ressources and unthreatened homeland..

  • @thales30 that one carrier could have meant aircover for the Bismarck and other battleships of kriegsmarine as they were out at sea. we all know what might have happened if either Tirpitz or the Bismarck would have been let loose inside the convoy system. but this is only a speculation, so dont take it too seriousely

    and pardon my broken english

  • @thales30 No misconception, the US invented teh aero plane and were to firsto demonstrated them against surface ships, a tactic which the NIpponese sucessfully copied for a time.

  • Comment removed

  • Who gives a fuck if it was copied or not.

  • Apparently you do

  • Using war tactics isn't a copy. Everyone is free to use what they want. And for saying that, you'r ebasically saying that your country copies things also, well, so lazy that does not even copy, just improves.

  • @spanish111japan Yeah yeah, and you would imporve if you took your head out your tight azz hole

  • LOL, You can't proof that this is shit, cause is the best, but insulting me doesn't change nothing lol

  • @spanish111japan You jsut proved your head was up your rectum with your last statement

  • You just proved you dildo yourself everynight

  • Yamato was a great looking ship.

  • yes, nips made lot of mistakes with their naval power

  • 1:48 Awesome painting!

  • I never understood why Yamamoto was unwilling to risk these battleships in combat until it was too late. The US had only 4 serviceable fleet carriers during the Solomons campaign which did not operate collectively. The surface fleet could easily have made a formidable opponent but the only battleships deployed were the 4 Kongos, 2 of which went to Guadalcanal. By the time the rest of the 'heavies' were used in major combat big guns were useless. Guess Yamamoto wasn't such a gambler, after all.

  • From what I understand the INJ was critically short of fuel oil.

  • Correct. And they were short of the 18-inch ammunition the Yamato's main guns used through the entire war. Jaoan was actually short on every raw material required to wage war. Hence she attacked the US fleet at Pearl Harbour, hoping to wipe it out in one go. They knew they were awakening a giant and needed a quick, decisive victory.

  • why germany did not build an aircraft carrier in WW2? can please give me an answer. thanks

  • Germany did come close to completing at least one carrier, and they did begin work on a second one. Why they were never used is hard to say. The best theory I've heard is that Goering wouldn't go along with it, since he wanted to control all air assets.

  • @thespawnof66 they shipped it off to russia as part of the agreement ot carve up poland

  • @airdeckstair

because the Kriegsmarine lost out to the Luftwaffe for virtually all air operations. Germany at the time was not fighting a sea-based war anyway. It came close to completing the Graf Zeppelin though. Would have been a fine carrier indeed.

  • @GermanOperaSinger

Especially looking at Leyte Gulf when Yamato was scared off by destroyers and escort destroyers.

At that moment nu heavy us ships were at the scene (all chasing the Jap. carriers) so Yamato would be capable to whipe out the entire US surface fleet with its 18" guns.

The US planes were not even armed with armour piercing ammo or torpedo's since their main target were jap. troops.

  • @GermanOperaSinger : Yamamoto said before the war that the U.S. would reverse any gains realized from the attack on Pearl within 6 months, but the War Lords in Japan would not listen to him, and he was overruled. After 6 months, the Japanese Navy was on the run. Yamamoto was educated in the U.S. He was against the war from the start, and that probably was the cause of his errors.

  • @JBC814 I don't quite follow what you are saying. His suggestion that the U.S. would reverse gains from Pearl Harbour was right. So what were his errors?

(I don't know a lot about the Pacific of WWII, sorry)

  • @kvkleef79 : I was answering a comment by GermanOperaSinger who said that Yamamoto did not use the Yamato and Musashi until the end of the war, when their use was nullified by air power. I mentioned that Yamamoto may have made some mistakes because he was against the war anyway, but was overruled by the War Lords. Yamato was used at Leyte Gulf but failed to finish our forces there anyway.

  • Glorious vessels and complete waste of money - they should have spent it on aircraft carriers - and torpedo armed cruisers for night engagements in which they were unparalleled.

  • whats name of music at the yamato part?

  • If japan had focused on building more carriers instead of mostly useless huge BBs US navy wouldve had much harder time in the pacific

  • No one has understood coming the age of aircraft carrier. the battle of pearlharbor noticed that importance in carrier.

  • I was the last the King of the sea

  • I think that the Yamato could lay claim to have been the most beautiful BB ever built. LG.

  • Good music.

  • You meant Yamashiro right?

  • yes^^;

  • Then - Midway.

If they us their battleships and heavy cruisers in the first line they could win.

But that is not the onle reason - nagumo made terrible mistakes.

    Then - Gwadalcanal.

Japan still had a chance but not all ships were used.

The US industry made japanese victory impossible. There were to many Esseks and Interprid to fight with. Even kamikadze did not help in the end.

  • it was the most powerful navy in the world, first stronger than US because of better training.

But Japan had bad admiral, some say that was a destiny.

Instead of ocean fighing with terrible US casualities they attacked perl-harbor.

No one US carrier even was damaged.

  • Japan had constructed some beautiful designs and took what was learned during their collaboration with the Lion class and were marching forwards in terms of design and engineering. It is unfortunate they did not have the resources to sustain them and their endeavors.

Despite the harsh comments being received, I am a major fan of the IJN. Read up on the Russo-Japanes war folks. Read up on the long history of Akagi and Kaga. The IJN has pioneered a a great deal which modern navies use today.

  • 1:55 pure ownage

  • Japan never had a prayer of defeating the US. They lost the war the day they started it. Compare US vs. Jap war procurement spending. Sink a US Carrier - so what? By next year, we'll build 10 more. (As well as the fleets to support them.) And fill their decks with Hellcats, Dauntlesses, Avengers and Corsairs. Flown by well trained crews, vs. obsolete Zeros flown by kids with 30hrs. flight time. The Japanese war with the West stands forever as a colossal example of arrogance and raw stupidity.

  • They could have won it only took The battle of Midway. If Japan had changed their naval code which was advised to Yamamoto, the Americans never would have expected the attack of Midway, After the Japanese took Midway a instant attack would be commited at Port Moresby and the Japanese would invaded australia. So with these two battles fought then the Japanese could work on defending their clinch islands in the pacific. Commence their attack on Panama canal and Hawaii. America signs amristice.

  • "America signs armistice" HAHAHAHAHA That'll be the day. Great insight from America's hat. canada has always been famous for its esteemed tacticions..

  • @Canadavoice - It's fun to play the "what if" game when discussing the pivotal events in human conflict. What if, Hitler hadn't invaded Russia? What if, the Japs had been smart enough to bomb the oil storage depot at Peal Harbor, instead of wasting bombs on ships? Japan never had the the resources to pull off what you suggest. Think about it. Even if Japan had taken AU. They would have to hold vast amounts of land, over vast distances, with little gains in resources. A logistical disaster.

  • @Canadavoice - Con't: And Japan REALLY sucked at logistics. Japan could not hold any gains against a capable and determined enemy. Also, recall the Casablanca Conference policy of Unconditional Surrender. That worked both ways. There would be no armistices in WWII. (Except the French, of course.) Besides, no matter what the Axis did, they would have lost, due to a lack of industrial resources. But in fact, the war would have ended by Sept. of 1945, under the weight of American atom bombs.

  • @Canadianvoice America isn't going to sign any armistice. It would fight on because of its citizens. America has more guns than any country in the world. Like several rifles and couple cases of 1000 rounds.

  • Only after midway most of our skilled pilots were dead.

  • @TheZuikaku - True. The loss of the two Carriers at Coral Sea was a serious blow. Those ships might have made a difference at Midway. Of course, even a victory would have left IJN forces spent. Regarding pilots, as with all things military, Japan could not afford losses. The US easily could. In the end, defeat for Japan was a foregone conclusion.

    - By the way, you have a very good YouTube homepage.

  • The US Navy was just lucky at Midway even though they have the ULTRA.. They were able to locate the Jap fleet first while the Japs are refuelling.. The US Navy is the greatest, but I always go for the underdog.. Banzai

  • There was no "luck" involved the US victory at Midway. USN Intel - HYPO (ULTRA was British.) had long cracked the Jap Naval Codes. They knew the IJN was planning an attack at somewhere, coded: AF But what was, 'AF'? USN sent a radio signal that desalination system was down on Midway. The Japs took the bait. They sent a coded transmission that desalination plant was down on, "AF'. The US Navy was waiting. Six months after Pearl Harbor, the US effectively defeated Japan. Not luck. Skill.

  • If only we took out he US carriers at Pearl all the rest of the fighting could've been avoided.

  • Except you thought you took out the carriers at Pearl and your best admiral realized all you had done was pissed us off.

  • I think that even if the carriers had been taken out, the war would ahve only been lengthened by a few months or so. Japan could never hope to match the USA's industrial and shipbuilding strength. For an example, look at how quickly the USN repaired and recommisoned most of the Pearl Harbour BBs, and the went on to produce another 2 classes of Battleships, along with several new carriers. The IJN on the other hand, had to cancel many new BCR and BB orders for urgently needed carriers.

  • We let you think you won at the end so it could just be over with.

  • I guess that explains the whole us occupying japan and the whole part about how you lost everything you had been occupying.

  • Did that huge, high superstructure make these Fuso-class battleships topheavy and unstable?

  • nope.

  • Thanks. Just asking. If the U.S. carriers had been at Pearl Harbor then the war would have taken a very different turn. Midway would have been a very different affair notwithstanding Yamamoto's overly complex plan. That is if Midway would have happened at all.

  • I don't usually comment, but this was a very well composed production; good music, great photos, in-depth treatment.

  • Awsome video and song! ^-^ Musashi was a good warship. Japan was one of the best in ww2 but I really think attacking the U.S was the wrong thing to do. I mean imagine if the U.S and Japan were allies they could have built mega warships.

  • Hey this is YamatoTitanic i had to do a new chennal because my computer cought a virus and i had to redo my computer and lost my password from the last acount but I agree with with KyleLexington

  • whats the song

  • lang lebe japan!!! lang lebe der kaiser

  • You can say that it was the free world that was the reason for perhaps every major war of the 20th Century by idiotic political mistakes and greedy intentions. It is very hard to say about World War II though, but what the allies did at the end of the first world war was a major factor to why the 2nd World War was pretty much inevitable, Germany it was about revenge, Japan it was about the threat of European colonialism. .

  • lol ab1racing, your an idiot.

little fact about ww2 for you-

Japan invaded china for raw materials that japan did not have. America then requested japan pull out of china, when they refused the US froze japanese assets and then embargoed japan. Japan then needed to find other sources of raw materials that came from america, so aall out pacific invasion was needed. that couldnt be done with the US battleship/carrier groups in pearl so close to the fighting. your an idiot...

  • My father was an anti-shipping aviator in the Pacific in WWII and won a bronze star for shooting down two Zekes. "War is a terrible, terrible waste," he always told me. "It's fine to build these beautiful planes and warships, but we should never ever use them."

  • lolz u used the word "there" wrong. ur supposed to use "their"...

  • No one cares

  • *lolz* you spelt "you" wrong.... *sarcasm*

  • indeed, hes funny

  • A few of them were actually built in the UK

  • way to lie

  • Japan should should get rid of the outdated idea of article 9, procure nuclear weapons and build some carriers. She has the potential to be a superpower and should bloody well take her place in the world. Its all this non - aggression crap that is getting pople killed. Or, take a leaf out of Italy's book and alter the constitution to allow for peace keeping missions. Germany needs to do the same, you can't expect 2 countries to police the world. WW2? We forgive you already!

  • I agree..... Carierrs - yes. At least two.

Bigger and better than Hyuga Class.

    Names are allready there:

    Hiryu and Soryu

  • I agree, bring back the Rising Sun Imperial Navy and the great German Army to full strenght again.

  • ImperialGuard322nd is actually correct Japan had a formidable carrier force of 4 carriers early in the war later they built as many as they could. But they mainly lost due to Tactical errors and the inability to keep up in the technical race with American ingenuity.

  • the song is from the movie the rock

  • Crap!! The Japanese navy was built around battleship tactics. The USN actually got the upper hand by being forced to build new warships.

  • while I shame my self by pointing this out, Japan actually had arguably THE best carrier fleet and Air wing in the world in 1941.

  • that is ture they did but they did one thing worng they attack the us if they left the us alone it would of had the pafic to there self

  • destroying the pacific fleet in pearl harbor was the best thing they could have done to ensure victory, however they let the aircraft carriers slip away carelessly

  • Arguably it was the worst thing they could have done. Japanese planning centered around the concept that the war would be won in a single, decisive battle, which is why they struck at American battleships.

By leaving the infrastructure of the Harbour intact, they allowed America to prolong the war and starve Japan of resources.

In a sense how many carriers escaped was irrelevant because Japans strategic plan was to consolidate positions in the South Pacific before pushing east anyways.

  • Well, you did kinda strike a deal with the Dutch and English to cut of their fuel supply.

  • They were kinda being bullies with the rest of Asia. Big, very dangerous bullies.

  • Well yeah, of course, it was a good thing you signed that deal, I was just explaining to freedy9988 how that sorta made things difficult for Japan to do stuff in Asia without hurting US interests.

  • they were just dumb in attacking .... they started a World war against ther selfs

  • They were, but you know the thing about empires? They want to expand, and this was made difficult by the oil embargo, and conquering the Dutch indies and others would solve that little problem for them, but they most likely thought that if they did that, the United States might become involved, so they stuck first.

  • yea empires WW2 was a real empire time ....

Italy , Soviet union , Germany , Japan

  • Hi guys ,anyone know what;s the name of the background music, is this belong to movie which is named'The rock'??????

  • Fantastic shot of Musashi going down on an even keel at 2:38..I remember reading that this was due to superior damage control in the face of impossible odds-

  • the yamato should have been more affective than it was. it had the potential to be the best warship of all time but it ended up being a failed naval experiment
