  • Hi hi! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (search on google)? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my BF got hot 6 pack abs and lost a ton of fat with it.

  • I don't eat til 3pm, having a piece of fruit, then at 6pm I have lean meat & veggies, at 9pm I have 2 eggs omelet with veggies, going approx 18 hours without food. I'm doing it every day only coz I find it easy, the scale says I'm losing approx 1/2 kilo per day, going for a 30 min run AM & 30 min weight session PM, calories in around 600, exercise out -600, I'm seriously vanishing ... throughout day having diet soda, espresso coffee & lots of water ... the mind is very clear :)

  • Hello Brad,

This is a really helpful series of videos. I need to fast for a whole month (August 2010) and can't eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset. What type of workout and diet would be best for this? Sunrise is at 5 AM and sunset is at 8 PM. Thanks.

  • How on earth is this not a FAD diet? You have to starve yourself on a regular basis?

    Am I missing something here....

  • @Sherry78 Fasting should not equal starvation. Most humans throughout history and some groups today practice something similar. Only in the Western world are we so addicted to food that we feel like we have to constantly eat. I've been practicing intermittent fasting naturally before I heard of eat-stop-eat and I was healthy and had plenty of energy. It was when I let others discourage me that I ran into problems trying to eat multiple meals daily.

  • @Sherry78

It's a diet that fits some people's lifestyles.....some people find it easier to simply not think about food all day (twice per week), opposed to restricting calories all throughout the week. This is also preferred during a recomp cycle. You can eat large, calorie dense meals on lifting days, while fasting on resting days.

  • @Sherry78 depends on what fasting you are doing, if is liquid is good for you because it will clean up your body and will start fresh again, the no food is also good because your stomach will shrink and will also give the body sometime to clean up, theres also juice fasting, ect...

  • I am starting an IF regime this week. I have worried over it for some time because I have been of the opinion that starving slows you metabolism and not eating breakfast is bad for your metab. as well. then I decided that the important part of this is the "Intermittent" part. If you consistently starve or skip breakfast it might make bad changes but doing it for a limited amount of time and then eating well, your body wont make those adjustments. ...Right?

  • a fast of 18 hours each day would be the same as eating dinner at 6pm, skipping bfast the nest morning and having lunch at noon. How come every study ever done has shown that you will gain weight when you skip bfast, even the studies where caloric intake was measured to ensure that the skippers didn't make up for their lost meal by overeating later in the day?

  • There is not a single study done that shows that you gain weight if you skip breakfast. You're welcome to send me a reference if you are wrong.

This is what the studies show: Thin people eat breakfast. Fat people usually don't. That doesn't mean that skipping breakfast CAUSES their obesity. Correlation is not causation. Their obesity probably causes them not to be hungry in the morning.

  • Hi Brad,

Can EatStopEat be undertaken by diabetics (type 2)? What are the pros and cons for those with diabetes? If I'm diabetic, can I try out fasting for 24 hours once or twice a week? Thanks.

  • It's best to try and work up to 24 hours as long as you can comfortably handle it. 15-19 hours is still good, but if you can make it 19, you might as well see if you can get to 24.

  • Hi Brad,

Is it possible for intermittent fasting, of the flexible or inflexible kind, to make a person more depressed?

  • Quaffacoke, I honestly don't know. I've never scene any evidence of this. This doesn't mean it's not there, but rather it's outside of my scope of expertise.

  • Hi Brad,

I really like your theory about IF. I just have one question. Tonight I've starteg my 4th day of fasting, but(!) I don't fast for 24 hours but 15-19 (15 1st day, 19 2nd day and today 17 hours). Is it better to stay in fast mode for 24 hours rather then doing it every day for 15-19 hours? I find that a lot easier since I know I can eat every day. Thank you,
