That is to say, they have been cancelled out, and modern ulama only accept the hateful things the Qur'an and hadith say about them. That is a major problem. And I have never heard of a Muslim converting to Judaism. To do so, he would become an apostate (murtad) and would be subject to the death penalty.

What God says in the early suras is often contradicted by the verses of later suras. That has been a principle of tafsir since the year dot. It means that what God says is not necessarily 'forever'.
