  • The coax comes out at 90 degrees? How do you keep the coax from putting undue strain on the connectors? Nice build!

  • @KC8YOQ I just take some slack from the coax and make a loop and zip tie it to the j pole(below the j on the pole). When you make the loop leave some slack so no strain is at the connector and zip it up. Hope this helps, there is probably a better way to do it but mine has been this way for over a year and still holding strong. 73's to you!

  • @vwdavid1 OK that is what I was going to say. I would love to see a portable version of it! It would get stolen from my roof where I live for the copper LOL

  • great video - with good attention to detail - like the coax connection assembly, gave me some ideas - I made one of these the other day, surprisingly good antenna. best wishes from Ireland.

  • @yogi540 Thanks! 73's to you.

  • just built one. need to finish it off with the connections.

  • Thanks for your detailed video! Very cool. I'm going to try building one to receive FM radio signals in a rural area.

  • Thanks Guys! I built mine yesterday. No one is complaining about my signal on the repeater now, even with one and half watts.

  • NICE BUILD !!!!! im using it here in the phillipines >>

  • SUPER A1 Way to make a How-To Video. You Rule! Can't wait to build mine.

  • Nice 2 meter ant.

  • iT IS POSSIBLE TO DO THE SAME THING FOR A 6 METER ANT.vERY NICE VIDEO.

  • @andypanda758 Yes you can make one for 6 meters but it will be alot bigger. I think it would be 13 to 14 feet long and made of 3/4 and 1/2 inch copper pipe. I have not made one for my self but i have looked some up. Check out KB9VBR 6 meter j-pole antennas. Thanks! 73's to you

  • Great video, you put a lot of care into the construction process. I really enjoy the J-Pole antenna myself and do offer them for sale on my website. If you are so inclined to check them out, please click on my callsign to the left of this comment for details.

  • Very good video. I'm going to have a go at building mine over the weekend.

  • @stevetadams1963 Thank you! Yea steve make you one. I think you will be happy with it. For $25.00 and a hour of your time you can't go wrong. 73's to you from David KJ4WPD

  • @vwdavid1 I put mine together last night will get the rest done today then once i get a SWR meter i will hopefully have it up and Running this weekend. I did hear that this could work on 70cms as well have you tried to see if it can?

    73 De Steve KJ4PXH

  • @stevetadams1963 - No I have not tried, But I've heard the same but the only difference is the ones I've seen the main element ( the long pipe) is 3/4 pipe. check out this on the net. A True Plumber's Delight for 2 meters-An All -Copper J-Pole. It is a copper j-pole for 2meters and 440MHz . Right now the only radio I have is a Icom Ic-2000 and it is a single band 2 meter. If you find out that it does work for 440 let me know. I think the one I built will work but not very good for 440MHz.

  • @vwdavid1 Hi David, I got mine going and very low SWR. Really happy.

I have a Kenwood TH-F6A only running 5 watts and the Antenna does work on some part of the band with a swr of 1:5 some part of the band it gives a high swr.

Still might build another just for 70cms.

222MHZ is well under used her but mayee due to using a HT.
