I can understand why some of you may be upset by the French and their once great Empire but at least many French lives were lost for the cause of preserving the Angkor. True some were corrupted with greed but many men gave their lives so that today it might be as great as it once was.
I'm from the UK and I know our Empire was once vast, as vast perhaps as the Rome Empire. It was our belief we were holy and could take. What are we today? Tiny! Forget the past, look to your country's future.

Believe me, Europeans of today aren't proud of the colonial history! We were ignorant and uncivilized. Only the recent century the education, tourism and finally the Internet have made it possible for the people to understand and see what has happened and is happening.
But still today the Big Money families own our politicians: they are the puppet masters! The common people are wakening, and we want to get rid of them undemocratic robber barons who control us from behind the curtains!
I am sure the royals wrote many things...of course some on the wall of Angkor...although fading. Writings on paper must have been destroyed by one of Khmer's enemy or lost among the many temples. Who knows...it'll be great to find one.Too bad for the enemies.. they still can't destroy our best asset. Which we should be grateful and appreciate to have as part of our culture.
It seems impossible that the only writing on Khmer (according to this video) is from a Chinese man visiting the Khmer Empire ... where is the writing from a Khmer person? The Khmer people have a writing system since back then too ... the writing system is certainly not recently invented!!!
we do have a writing system and is all over the ancient khmer temple. BUT Archaeologists can't take them writing seriously because all the writing contain story about Gods and Goddess coming down from the Heaven, Gaint snake with 9 head, mythical animal and being and more... Archaeologists label them writing found on Khmer temple as myth and can't be taken as a historial facts. The only thing they took from the khmer writing was the name of the Khmer King.
even in Chinese writing about Khmer empire, it talk about seeing werid creature, seeing Giant snake with 9 heads, Croc big as a house and strange lookin flowers, so did the ancient Mongol king say the same thing.
