  • 38 special is awesome... i saw them in 2007...they are honestly one of the best live performances you can see today they sound exactly like they do in the studio

  • 38 SPECIAL FOREVER !!!!!!

  • mis you perfect, thanks for being my freind

  • Miss you Cowboys and ofcourse I will never forget about you "Perfect" :). Thanks for all the great memories and most of all for being my freind

  • Of multiple good versions this one is technically the best.

  • Deadwood during kool Deadwood nights, kicked ass VanZant on vocals had us all drunk and dirty dancing good times!

  • Just saw them in Warren OH on March 17 2011 and they rocked. They are awesome.

  • These guys STILL rock. God I miss the 80's (and 70's). Don Barnes is rare talent and everybody should enjoy their job and have as much fun doing it as the great Donnie Van Zant. Once they stopped trying to be like Ronnie and Skynyrd they found their own sound and took off. A truly great band.

  • YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!Now THIS is what I call southern fried rock n roll!!!!!!!!!I seen them live back in the mid 80s and they were fannnnnnnntastic!!!!!!Thank you for posting this :-)

  • The arrangement of the guitar solo during this performance really throws me off.. Regardless, it's a great job.

  • i think 38 is kinda a mix between boston and lynyrd skynyrd. they have that core rockn roll feeling of boston but also that southern influence of lynryd skynyrd thumbs up if u agree

  • @mguitarman100 Dude, that is a spot on analogy. I never realized it but as soon as I read your comment I instantly saw what you were saying. 3 great bands ( and 1 LEGENDARY - Lynyrd Skynyrd)

  • Im 15 and would rather listen to this than that new sh*t. Thanks for introducing me into this music dad.

  • @OpTicEnigmaX same here bro fuck Kesha (i would) long live rock!

  • @OpTicEnigmaX Kid, you have restored my faith in this "ME" generation! The world is a cold, empty, barren wasteland when the best we can do is Justin Bieber. Just when you thought New Kids On The Blocks was the lowest of the low we now have this teeny bopper douche bag and that hack Taylor Swift leading the airwaves. What happened to real music and real talent? You already know good music, now spread the word on the playground.

PS: Don't tell your Mom I used the word douche bag... LOL!

  • this is real music i love to play this song on the guitar lynyrd skynyrd and blackfoot are some of my favorite bands

  • Who is playing the drums in this performance?

  • yo where's jeff

  • Now THIS is fine music from the United States of America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • quite possibly the most lyrically profound song of all time

  • what a great band,for 25 yrs,awesome.

  • awesome awesome awesome!!!!

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVA LOVE IT HOLD ON LOOSELY YEA

  • Holy sh!t this song is incredible,no matter how many times I hear it ,it never gets old=)

  • Good ban good song after all these years I still love listening to this band !.

  • Just Not 38 Special without Jeff Carlisi. Nobody Better on Guitar

  • love the lyrics to this song....Thought i understood them but the person i told to hold on loosely has Let Go....baby, im sorry i hurt you, my heart aches for you every day... i Want you to cling tightly to me....and Never Ever let go.....i love you.....zone girl

  • Barnes still sounds great, Donnie is still an embarassment to the Van Zant name!

  • great rendition so tight so spot on.... good show sturgis a fun place to bring your hog.... i imagine they get all the good bands

  • Is this at the Buffalo Chip? I can't hear the Harley bikes roaring after every song!!!

  • Don Barnes is singing and originally recorded the song. Age is taking its course but he is still awesome.

  • This is not the original singer.

  • @RangRing68 Yes Don is the original singer. Check out the videos from 1981. He has changed the most in how he looks. But he and Donnie started this band in the 70's

  • @CGC1954 yeah, i took a couple more looks at him and you are right. i have always admired his guitar playing/singing, thats hard to do.

  • this is great

  • @Guitarlon1. Firstly his name is spelled Van Zant and secondly he's in the band because he's one of the lead singers, one of the main song-writers, the live acoustic guitar player as well as the crowd pleaser for the band. He also formed the band. Are they good enough reasons for you?

  • screw u

  • Damn they sound great live.

  • I can't wait to see 38 again, I also videotaped 2 live songs of them, if ya have the time check them out. "38 SPECIAL ROCKS"

  • i just saw them saturday....amazing!

  • Me too....Wichita Falls Texas...Fantastic show.

  • Surprized how good they sound without Jeff Carlisi

Barnes really does a good job!!

  • Jeff Carlisi didnt ever sing rhis song Its been Don Barnes all along except Donnie used to sing it with him THATS the difference...

  • good lovin gone bad! tell me about it!!!!!

  • mediabot is the shit

  • i have this on cd and i listen to it everyday!!!

  • where did he miss a note i must not have caught it

  • he missed one note.. barely.... the guy is a great and tasteful solo player.

  • you suckass

  • .38 fuckin rocks!

  • i agree

man, i met carlisi- hes such a cool guy

but these guys still hauled ass even after he left

  • Barnes is .38; period. I have been seeing them for nearly 30 years...and when Carlisi left, I was very concerned that the lead playing would suffer...however, Barnes pulled it off, big time. He is a consummate professional; a great, great singer, and hot guitarist.

  • These cats bring a helluva ROCK!

  • barnes has still got it after 30 years... i wish most bands could do that, this guy's got a helluva lot of talent

  • Amazing! Donnie Barnes still playing that same old LP double cutaway.

  • I made a hit record for real. It's a local hit!! But, it's nowhere close to the talent of .38 Special. Face it. When you make a record better than .38 Special, they'll have retired.

  • ooga ba

  • Love the 80's even if I'm only like 18. I think hold on loosely is what set 38 special in motion ^-^.

    LOVE THE 80's!

    Submit!

  • Here is a little trivia. The lead singer of 38 special,Don Barnes, was not a member of the band until one night when the band was rehearsing, heard something outside and went to investigate,as they got closer to the sound, they realized someone was stealing their equipment. The thief was their lead singer.Instead of calling the police, they asked him what he played,he said he sang and played guitar. So they auditioned him and the rest is history.True story!

  • van zant is a poser he cant even play the guitar what a fucking joke he is nothing but a crowd pleaser

  • You have no ideal what your talking about. You see how hard it is to stand the test of time someday, "maybe". You bummed me out.

  • Being a crowd pleaser is better than being a crowd pisser!

  • he has style man!!!

  • Thats BS. He has a great voice and is more talented than you'll ever be. Listen to him and his brother Johnnie sing. No faking it there.

  • Is your anus making a living out of performing? Or are you slugging away at some minium wage job not going nowhere? When you make a hit record, let me know!!!

  • Oh yea. A one hit wonder I suppose. What was it?

  • your a moron

  • @genegeener you're wrong. It's quite easy to hear Van Zant's acoustic playing in this song. He's not faking it at all.

  • i graduated from high school in the mid 80's and i 've gotta say it was some of the best music ever. real rock, real blues and real country. nothing today even comes close.

  • The lead singer is Don Barnes on this song and on "Caught Up In You". Quite frankly, I cannot remember Van Zant being the "frontman". I do remember, in the '80's, they were known for having two drummers. The '80's....what a great time for music. MTV in it's infancy, with their "VJ's".

  • attention kids..this is what real ROCK and real MUSIC sounds like!!!

  • AMEN BROTHER!!!!!

  • Yes, why don't people nowadays realise that the best rock was produced back in "those" days. This was the real, raw product - the rubbish, publicity-orientated, pre-packaged pop excuse for music produced these days makes one want to give up up completely on (almost) anything being currently produced.

  • Still Crazy Good

  • Is the singer here Don Barnes or Donnive Van Zant? What about "Caught up in You"?

  • Big Larry Junstrum (sp?) was the ORIGINAL Bass player for Skynyrd. Leon came in when he left. Sorry if this posts twice...doesn't look like it took the first time.

  • Big Larry Junstrum (sp?) was the ORIGINAL Skynyrd bass player. Leon came in when he left. And the rest, as they say, is history.

  • Man this song brings back soo many good time, faster times.. sure wish I could bring the times back just to do it again!

  • they are classic!

  • Fabulous band! Great, classic songs that stick with you over time.

  • come'on man

    get over yourself

this is as close to spamming as you can get

...and you know what people think of spammers

  • that was spam, but it is....

  • Uh, it was not spam, and I am not a spammer. Thank you.

  • my husband would agree with you on it being great advice.

  • YA it is

  • agreed:)

  • this is such a great song

  • GREAT!!!!!!!! Ilove those southern boys!
