Thank you for posting this. By the time I thought to check youtube I had figured out most of the sozi features but your idea of using a control layer is brilliant and much easier than how I was doing it. Great open source advocacy by example as well :)
Wouter, during a discussion yesterday with a colleague he showed me Prezi, which reminded me of you showing us a similar thing. I installed Inkscape and Sozi and am now learning how to make presentations. Watching your tutorial helps, thanks for that.
@kawabill haha fantastic! I might consider joining that team to make sozi better; The days of powerpoint are over imho, and impress just isn't cutting it for me..
@iMonk3y The downside of Prezi (imho) is that it uses flash. So it can't be used on most smartphones or some desktops
SVG on the other hand is an open source protocol that is supported by almost every webbrowser out there. Wheither it's IE, Chrome, Mozilla, Safari,... They'll all be able to view this without the need to install a plugin (like flash).
I agree that there is much work left to make this extension work as smooth as Prezi though..
Benefit: it's open source anybody can make it better!
Great video ... great presentation ... and a great presentation tool ...
A profesor told me that from now on, all my presentations should be made on prezi ... I thought there might be another tool to do this ... of course this is the one I'm using from now on ...
Thanks a bunch! Very helpful! Looking forward to trying your suggestions soon... question though... any luck with stringing together a number of slides into one SVG? One inkscape slide can get very crowded very quickly... and what of images? Did it work with images too? Thanks again!
@pleabargain Well I'm not totally sure what you mean with 'stringing together' but I think that the presentation for EPFSUG will answer your questions.. (also the question about images). I've put a link in the 'shownotes'. Generally when I give a presentation I only put certain keywords in it. It helps to keep the presentation from getting crowded
Tnks :D

@pachocanadian Thx! :) I used to to it with the elements of the "normal" layers at first, but then I figured this might be easier.. :)

Thanks for this tutorial, but I think I rather use Prezi for its simplicity. Transitions in Prezi are much smoother :)
