Ecuador TIENES UN GRAN POTENCIAL PARA SER EL MEJOR PAIS DEL MUNDO.
The media "Telling the truth"...it seems like Correa is a student of Plato. The truth doesn't exist. And If Correa speaks about lies on the media, why he uses the media every time for his marketing. That's a serious contradiction.
Y si no aceptas....
¿utilizas computadora? entonces, no eres independiente.
Thank you mister president for saying the truth there is democracy in Ecuador I am Ecuadorian and I agree with you mister president el diario el univeso lies there is a lot of chages for good but some people do not want to reconize what you have done in Ecuador they just show the bad things they don't show the good things that you have done in Ecuador.
I am Ecuadorian and Rafael Correa is a great Presidente!!!! Dont believe all the lies. He is nota perfecto but he is not as bad like the capitalista press want to show him!
Amazing speech! He really shows that he comes from the academia. He was very clear in his ideas! And in a foreign language. Impressive! I agree with him, the media doesn't want to lose their privileges, gets involved in politics all the time, not to inform but to defend their interests, and have no ethics (in Ecuador)!!! The people of Ecuador should be proud, that was an amazing speech!!! So there is hope in politics and media in our continent after all!! Thank you for the revolutionary ideas.
And to finish this I just happen to know there was 10 people murdered as result of 30s attempt of coup...
People who died under the same conditions which is defending what they voted for martyrs of democracy, defenders of the large majorities will of change...
Now why don't you just, let your political passions aside for a second and start trying to contribute with some ideas for social progressive development instead of justifying shameless oposition with the political current trend of some private media outlets.
mariocf70@ Shame on you mister, you're lying and you're a liar!!!, 5 murders on 30s case
4 of them several hours ago prior to the president's rescuing operation..
to argue please show up some little decency and emit your comments under FACTS, not some passionate unbased ideology!!!
and third dozens of videos even those published by the so call "free media" clearly show how inhuman the primitive reaction of the police was when where they who opened fire towards the presidential car..
I invite everyone to read and watch Ecuador's private media outlets. Everything is negative. Criticism and words like dictator and oppression are daily occurrences.
THIS does not make sense for two reasons. 1) Correa has won 7 elections in the past 5 years. He currently has over 70% approval rating among Ecuadorians. SO clearly his government is doing something right for a significant portion of the population. 2) The media claims free press violations, but somehow criticize Correa every day.
@scg35 I very much agree, I am Ecuadorian and live in my country a true democracy. The media tries to appear a reign of terror because Correa has taken away many privileges and abuses to citizenship.
@Drexpe I'm ecuadorian too, and I don't agree with your point of view. And the CIDH doesn't agree too. I'm student of law and from the science, from the rights, I have to say that Mr. Correa is mistaken.
@scg35 Exactly! And yesterday appeared a poll from all the Americas (North and South) about the calification of the Presidents of all the countries in the region, and President Correa is the only one with an approval above 75% of his people, after almost 5 years in the government. Let's not forget that before him, Ecuador had 7 presidents in 10 years.
@scg35 my friend. it is not only the press the human rights organizations everyday are being more critical towards him. it is also true that he has improved a lot of people but he is controlling the legal courts and is interfering in the congresses' decisions, which has created a lot . like myself there is a lot of left wing people who are not happy with this homophobe, authoritarian, not into green rights, ruler. human rights are beyond what is "good for people".
@egodiegoego I think you are using inflammatory terms like 'authoritarian' and 'homophobe' too lightly without showing proof. What human rights has the Correa administration violated? There are many human rights so please be specific. I gather that the Correa administration is not 'green' enough for you. I am sorry. But good luck finding a government (or another individual) that agrees with you on everything and to the same degree. What is "good for people"?
@scg35 flacso debate, 2006. To the question ¿Would you agree on gay marriage and abortion? Correa answered: My government will nos PROMOTE homosexuality. I was there... what about you? The constitutional reform (that actually allowed adoption and marriage and Correa publically attacked) had o be fight by human rights lawyer María Paula Romo, a very well known feminst and her group Ruptura de los 25.
@egodiegoego that does not make him a homophobe. I think he supports increasing gay rights (more than the average ecuadorian) but is worried about pursuing this policy aggressively because it is not popular and and an easy target for scaremongering. Don't forget that during elections, sectors of the opposition bring up 'gay rights' and homosexuality as a way to attack Correa. This tactic is effective because a significant portion of Ecuadorian society is not open to homosexuality.
@scg35 tactic? more than the average ecuadorian? GAY rights? with those 3 sentences i just got it. your approach to the left which is exactly what i (and many of us) criticize. since the beginning of his campaign and his government he was extremely and openly homophobic (beware of , his former communications asistant cillamar. who was accused) maybe because he has a very strong catholic agenda (after all he was part of teologia de la liberacion, his only leftist approach)
@egodiegoego my approach to the left? what is it? you did not explain it. I probably have similar views as you on these issues. I am just trying to explain to you why Ecuadorian laws are not the most progressive in the world on those topics which also explain why Correa has not actively tried to promote increasing equality among people of different sexual orientation.
@scg35 well, you have been supporting "correa". you said i used the term homophobe very lightly which i think is not true. homophobia is defined as fear for the homosexual "other". to you apparently that is not a very important point. as probably is not human rights concerned indigenous populations, afroecuadorian descendants, inmigrants (the cuba "issue"... omg) and so on. i am not sure where "you speak from". i speak from a left human rights perspective and clearly there are many violations.
i suggest you to follow the blog igualdad de derechos ya if you are concerned about his "gay agenda" as you call it. i think, without trying to illegitimate you that you need more information about the social movements. correa is a very charismatic leader and has done a lot. but he does not rule side to side with social movemnts (nor indigenous, nor glbt populations, nor feminist, nor afrodescendant, nor teachers) and with this election he went back of some human rights like prison preventiva.
@egodiegoego i think that the anti-glbt or anti-indigenous groups (and individuals) probably think the same as you: "Correa is not ruling side-by-side with us". He can't be side-to-side with everyone or cater to everyone's demands bc in a diverse society it is likely that different people have contradicting demands with one another.
@egodiegoego Listen, again, I am not here to discuss or defend specific policies of the Correa administration. My original point was about the private media. The points you bring up are very important...and like I said I probably agree with you on some of these issues more than you might think. But do you think the owners of the private media care about the indigenous, the afroecuadorians, montubios, glbts, or the feminist movement?
@egodiegoego Yes you are right about R25 but remember that back in 2008 they were part of AP and without the support of AP they could not have included those rights in the constitution. It is important to have a group like R25 defending human rights in the Assembly but (unfortunately) they only represent a minority of Ecuadorians. The problem is that Ecuador's catholic roots and its machista culture prevent European-level gay rights reforms to occur.
@scg35 It wuld be really hard to quote all the list. I encourage you to either write me or talk to organizations such as CEDHU or Clinicas Juriídcas in both Sant Francisco University and Catholic University the 2 only school thta have the study and practice of human rights. Indigenous populations with Ley de Aguas and Ley de Mineria are deprived like never before of access to comunal resources. According to OIT'S article and precedents by CIDH actions like this violates more than 12 rights.
@egodiegoego every citizen has a right to protest a violation of HRs. Sometimes government policies have unintended effects and the 'losers' of these policies have a right to be heard. But if we increase the number of HRs past a certain number then it will be hard for any (developing) country to uphold all of them, for every citizen, at every moment. So lets think about it in relative terms. Is Correa really more of a threat to HRs than previous presidents or, for example, Uribe was in COL?
@egodiegoego look I am not here to defend the wide breadth of Correa's policies and their effects on society. My original point is that he is obviously popular and is doing a lot of things right to continue winning elections. So why doesn't the private media ever say anything good about him? Don't you think that is strange? Don't you think that is a violation of the 'human right' to unbiased and timely information? He is criticized daily and harshly...so how can there be no freedom of press??
@scg35 let's think..."Correa has won 7 elections in the past 5 years". Do you know the concept of democracy? do you know that Fidel Castro won every election in his country every year? So, he's a dictator or not? Do you live in Ecuador? Then you know how does Correa use the media to brainwash the population. Like Goebbels did in Germany.
@alvarezdap1 obviously there is more to democracy than (competitive) elections. I don't think there is a perfect democracy in Ecuador but neither is there one in the U.S. or any other country. I do strongly think, however, that Correa's policies are closer to the 'people's will' (a crucial component of democracy) than the policies of previous governments.
@scg35 The "people's will". I'm not sure if the people in Ecuador have a will, a dream, or even a path. We have a nation without education, and when that happens, you can't speak about democracy. There isn't democracy in Ecuador because, the people of our nation doesn't have the enough education.
@alvarezdap1 Lack of education does not mean people can't have a will or dream and have desires. Education does help to have a society that makes better decisions as to HOW to reach those societal goals. And a more educated society also strengthens democracy. And that this why the Correa government has spent more money on education that previous governments combined.
@scg35 ¿more money on education? I don't think so. One thing is SPEND money on buildings and other one is SPEND money on educational programs. Correa has spend a lot of money on marketing and spots for the TV. He use the power as George Orwell says on his "1984". Has the control of the media. As Daft Punk says: "television, rules the nation". Almost here, that's true, because our people doesn't have education and they are very influential nation.
Mr. President Rafael Correa has been, is and will be the best president that has had the Ecuador. As a few people can not accuse him of corrupt or a thief and it is undeniable that all the good done for the country. Those few people invent that he is a dictator.
There is no such thing as impartial news. As an example, it's interesting to note the the govt daily El Telegrafo did not report Correa's accusation of lying. It simply said that in the face of a hostile question. Correa "said questioners should be better informed".
If it wasn't for independent (ie non government) papers like El Universo, this would be the only version Ecuador would get. Everything airbrushed and cleaned up. Corruption swept under the carpet. Fabricio's nose still in trough.
what about all the roads, schools, bridges, hospitals, and mobile hospitals, registro civil... scholarships to best 100 universities in the world. Rafael Correa never orderd to fire at anyone...... so therefore sir you are a liar,,, el universo has become the opposition all news coming out of the el universo has been against the goverment not once have i seen one positive news about the Correa. how can any news be inpartial when the anchorman gives his own personal opinion.
obviuosly you are using this to disinform people, when in reality there is freedom of speach in the ecuador. of course the extreme right will not allow a progresive government to flourish because it affects there pockets,,, becasue now they have to pay taxes, and they can't control this president for personal profit, Rafael Correa has the moral courage to undo fifty years of opression and bringing stability to ecuador, now there are enormous amount of infrastructure throughout the country,
Correa speaks of human rights? Can and I ask Correa, did you respect the human rights of the victims of september 30th 2010 when your goverment, order the military to shoot without any discretion against our people? Yo say that you sued diario el Universo as a regular citizen but when you went to trial you did it flying in a presidential airplane paid by the people, you militarized the court and only your guards and "followers" were granted access. You are lying to the people at Columbia!!!
@mariocf70 - You are liar and you are lieing. If you are talking about those 10 or so people that showed up at 9:30am to a full court room that was full by 7am, then you are using bad reference. Did you see how El Universo's lawyers were caught on video threatening people, creating a show?? Of course you didn't........Liar!
@mariocf70 - You are liar and you are lying. If you are talking about those 10 or so people that showed up at 9:30am to a full court room that was full by 7am, then you are using bad reference. Did you see how El Universo's lawyers were caught on video threatening people, creating a show?? Of course you didn't........Liar!
@mariocf70 Correa is the only president that has ever respected human rights in Ecuador. Check what he did with the Restrepo brothers case, and all others. When has that ever happen before, that a president cared and families were compensated? He's also honoured and helped those families who were affected by the attempted coup. All oposition said nothing happened that day. In fact, he is the only one who cares.
@mariocf70 And everything else you say is just crap, how else do you want the president to travel,by car,12hours? What if he dies travelling, isn't it his life a matter of national security? And the reason why the journalist lost the case is because he couldn't proof the president order the military to shoot, so you are lying about that too! And there's no proof out there, not even in the media that hates him so much.
@mariocf70 Besides, he is a humanist and a patriot, its hard to believe he could ever do such a thing. The opposition would on the contrary, they are constantly calling for people to protest and one even called for us to do as the lybians did. And about the court, only the followers got in cause they were there at 6:30am while the accused wanted to enter with their followers at 9:30. Dont forget that it was a public trial, so anyone could get in, but if the room is full, what do u want? IDIOT.
@mariocf70 What are you talking about? Where did you see that order? Did you read the documents from the Armed Forces disclassified last week about "30-S"? Those documents were unlawfully published a month ago by Emilio Palacio, the journalist that has scape from the law and now is living in Miami, FL. There says that the people that organized the "rescue" of President Correa was the top military, and they ordered to go with NOT LETHAL equipment. I think you better go back to your teeth.
Please what a lack of real arguments man, it's obvious that you got no clue about Ecuador internal affairs (limiting yourself to superficially analyze what he said) , you should follow my advice and start first of all reviewing ecuadorian's president speech, cuz I still don't understand what part of of it you couldn't get..
and second take a look to Fisk vs Arabia Saudi's prince case...
Correa is Lying InterAmerican Comission on Human Rights not only says that Special Law for Government Official Honour , also says thar Honour Rights Vilolations are under a Crime Code that is against with Agreements of Ecuador with this Inter Governments Organization These is states by InterAmerican Comission on Human Rights in their Press Release R32/11 at their web site CIDH.OAS.ORG
Very Good Speech Mr. President No Problem About The Accent, The Explanation Is More Important. Carry On With The Changes In Our Country. Viva Ecuador Carajo.

2) The media claims free press violations, but somehow criticize Correa every day.
scg35 4 months ago 21
@scg35 I very much agree, I am Ecuadorian and live in my country a true democracy. The media tries to appear a reign of terror because Correa has taken away many privileges and abuses to citizenship.

@Drexpe I'm ecuadorian too, and I don't agree with your point of view. And the CIDH doesn't agree too. I'm student of law and from the science, from the rights, I have to say that Mr. Correa is mistaken.

Drexpe 1 month ago
alvarezdap1 1 month ago
@scg35 Exactly! And yesterday appeared a poll from all the Americas (North and South) about the calification of the Presidents of all the countries in the region, and President Correa is the only one with an approval above 75% of his people, after almost 5 years in the government. Let's not forget that before him, Ecuador had 7 presidents in 10 years.
yogagye 4 months ago
@scg35 my friend. it is not only the press the human rights organizations everyday are being more critical towards him. it is also true that he has improved a lot of people but he is controlling the legal courts and is interfering in the congresses' decisions, which has created a lot . like myself there is a lot of left wing people who are not happy with this homophobe, authoritarian, not into green rights, ruler. human rights are beyond what is "good for people".
egodiegoego 4 months ago
@egodiegoego I think you are using inflammatory terms like 'authoritarian' and 'homophobe' too lightly without showing proof. What human rights has the Correa administration violated? There are many human rights so please be specific. I gather that the Correa administration is not 'green' enough for you. I am sorry. But good luck finding a government (or another individual) that agrees with you on everything and to the same degree. What is "good for people"?
scg35 4 months ago
@scg35 flacso debate, 2006. To the question ¿Would you agree on gay marriage and abortion? Correa answered: My government will nos PROMOTE homosexuality. I was there... what about you? The constitutional reform (that actually allowed adoption and marriage and Correa publically attacked) had o be fight by human rights lawyer María Paula Romo, a very well known feminst and her group Ruptura de los 25.
egodiegoego 4 months ago
@egodiegoego that does not make him a homophobe. I think he supports increasing gay rights (more than the average ecuadorian) but is worried about pursuing this policy aggressively because it is not popular and and an easy target for scaremongering. Don't forget that during elections, sectors of the opposition bring up 'gay rights' and homosexuality as a way to attack Correa. This tactic is effective because a significant portion of Ecuadorian society is not open to homosexuality.
scg35 4 months ago
@scg35 tactic? more than the average ecuadorian? GAY rights? with those 3 sentences i just got it. your approach to the left which is exactly what i (and many of us) criticize. since the beginning of his campaign and his government he was extremely and openly homophobic (beware of , his former communications asistant cillamar. who was accused) maybe because he has a very strong catholic agenda (after all he was part of teologia de la liberacion, his only leftist approach)
egodiegoego 4 months ago
@egodiegoego my approach to the left? what is it? you did not explain it. I probably have similar views as you on these issues. I am just trying to explain to you why Ecuadorian laws are not the most progressive in the world on those topics which also explain why Correa has not actively tried to promote increasing equality among people of different sexual orientation.
scg35 4 months ago
@scg35 well, you have been supporting "correa". you said i used the term homophobe very lightly which i think is not true. homophobia is defined as fear for the homosexual "other". to you apparently that is not a very important point. as probably is not human rights concerned indigenous populations, afroecuadorian descendants, inmigrants (the cuba "issue"... omg) and so on. i am not sure where "you speak from". i speak from a left human rights perspective and clearly there are many violations.
egodiegoego 4 months ago
i suggest you to follow the blog igualdad de derechos ya if you are concerned about his "gay agenda" as you call it. i think, without trying to illegitimate you that you need more information about the social movements. correa is a very charismatic leader and has done a lot. but he does not rule side to side with social movemnts (nor indigenous, nor glbt populations, nor feminist, nor afrodescendant, nor teachers) and with this election he went back of some human rights like prison preventiva.
egodiegoego 4 months ago
@egodiegoego i think that the anti-glbt or anti-indigenous groups (and individuals) probably think the same as you: "Correa is not ruling side-by-side with us". He can't be side-to-side with everyone or cater to everyone's demands bc in a diverse society it is likely that different people have contradicting demands with one another.
scg35 4 months ago
@egodiegoego Listen, again, I am not here to discuss or defend specific policies of the Correa administration. My original point was about the private media. The points you bring up are very important...and like I said I probably agree with you on some of these issues more than you might think. But do you think the owners of the private media care about the indigenous, the afroecuadorians, montubios, glbts, or the feminist movement?
scg35 4 months ago
@egodiegoego Yes you are right about R25 but remember that back in 2008 they were part of AP and without the support of AP they could not have included those rights in the constitution. It is important to have a group like R25 defending human rights in the Assembly but (unfortunately) they only represent a minority of Ecuadorians. The problem is that Ecuador's catholic roots and its machista culture prevent European-level gay rights reforms to occur.
scg35 4 months ago
@scg35 It wuld be really hard to quote all the list. I encourage you to either write me or talk to organizations such as CEDHU or Clinicas Juriídcas in both Sant Francisco University and Catholic University the 2 only school thta have the study and practice of human rights. Indigenous populations with Ley de Aguas and Ley de Mineria are deprived like never before of access to comunal resources. According to OIT'S article and precedents by CIDH actions like this violates more than 12 rights.
egodiegoego 4 months ago
@egodiegoego every citizen has a right to protest a violation of HRs. Sometimes government policies have unintended effects and the 'losers' of these policies have a right to be heard. But if we increase the number of HRs past a certain number then it will be hard for any (developing) country to uphold all of them, for every citizen, at every moment. So lets think about it in relative terms. Is Correa really more of a threat to HRs than previous presidents or, for example, Uribe was in COL?
scg35 4 months ago
@egodiegoego look I am not here to defend the wide breadth of Correa's policies and their effects on society. My original point is that he is obviously popular and is doing a lot of things right to continue winning elections. So why doesn't the private media ever say anything good about him? Don't you think that is strange? Don't you think that is a violation of the 'human right' to unbiased and timely information? He is criticized daily and harshly...so how can there be no freedom of press??
scg35 4 months ago
@scg35 let's think..."Correa has won 7 elections in the past 5 years". Do you know the concept of democracy? do you know that Fidel Castro won every election in his country every year? So, he's a dictator or not? Do you live in Ecuador? Then you know how does Correa use the media to brainwash the population. Like Goebbels did in Germany.
alvarezdap1 2 months ago in playlist Más vídeos de columbiauniversity
@alvarezdap1 obviously there is more to democracy than (competitive) elections. I don't think there is a perfect democracy in Ecuador but neither is there one in the U.S. or any other country. I do strongly think, however, that Correa's policies are closer to the 'people's will' (a crucial component of democracy) than the policies of previous governments.
scg35 1 month ago
@scg35 The "people's will". I'm not sure if the people in Ecuador have a will, a dream, or even a path. We have a nation without education, and when that happens, you can't speak about democracy. There isn't democracy in Ecuador because, the people of our nation doesn't have the enough education.
alvarezdap1 1 month ago
@alvarezdap1 Lack of education does not mean people can't have a will or dream and have desires. Education does help to have a society that makes better decisions as to HOW to reach those societal goals. And a more educated society also strengthens democracy. And that this why the Correa government has spent more money on education that previous governments combined.
scg35 1 month ago
@scg35 ¿more money on education? I don't think so. One thing is SPEND money on buildings and other one is SPEND money on educational programs. Correa has spend a lot of money on marketing and spots for the TV. He use the power as George Orwell says on his "1984". Has the control of the media. As Daft Punk says: "television, rules the nation". Almost here, that's true, because our people doesn't have education and they are very influential nation.

javKjas 4 months ago
There is no such thing as impartial news. As an example, it's interesting to note the the govt daily El Telegrafo did not report Correa's accusation of lying. It simply said that in the face of a hostile question. Correa "said questioners should be better informed".
If it wasn't for independent (ie non government) papers like El Universo, this would be the only version Ecuador would get. Everything airbrushed and cleaned up. Corruption swept under the carpet. Fabricio's nose still in trough.

EstebanEspinosa87 4 months ago
@mariocf70 And everything else you say is just crap, how else do you want the president to travel,by car,12hours? What if he dies travelling, isn't it his life a matter of national security? And the reason why the journalist lost the case is because he couldn't proof the president order the military to shoot, so you are lying about that too! And there's no proof out there, not even in the media that hates him so much.
EstebanEspinosa87 4 months ago
