All thats letting this Car down against the California is its gearbox... Dual Clutches are that much faster that it makes all the difference...id still rather the DBS though... stunning car!

And also if you check out the Top Gear track times it measures up to a Murcielago and a Zonda S (yes, yes both "old", but proper supercars), which is not bad considering it's a very comfortable GT. Granted the 599 is nearly 3 seconds faster. In the real world the DBS performs great, just as long as you keep it of the track you won't notice you get beaten by Porsches.
@HardheadzNL With all the competition churning out new superstars, I bet the DBS is due for a proper replacement. I think that's why the Virage was launched, to fill the gap between the Vantage and the DBS replacement we'll probably see within two years. And yes, the Aston Martin crowd will more likely be caught at a social gala where you're expected to know how you want your martini prepared so considering that, the owners probably don't complain about the nitty gritty details of the engine.

I think the Panamera Turbo looks good in black. The back took a lot of getting used to, and is still not it's best feature. But the whole car is very stately, it has a presence about it which is exactly the presence I'd want in a car.
I would take the Aston... but Ferrari builds some amazing machines. California is a V8 with Dual Clutch, 0-60 3.9 193mph car... weighs 3600lbs with 450hp compared to the Aston Martin DBS? V12 510hp 0-60 4.3sec and top speed around 190ish all at 3700lbs....smaller engine, less Horsepower, weighs more and beats the Aston Martin..... Not sure if its driver error here but dang... I guess Ferrari can build cars.

The reason that the California was catching up was all down to its gear change. In the Aston you have to push a clutch pedal down, select a gear, release the clutch pedal and accelerate again. In the California however, you pull a paddle and bang your off. If the Aston had a Ferrari gear box then it would be down to the laws of physics to decide.

@borladyno No question. Neither of these cars are made for producing the best lap-time so for me things like appearance, interior look and feel, and engine/exhaust note have to take precedent. From that perspective there really is no comparison between the two. Aston DBS is best in this class IMO.

The reason that the California was catching up was all down to its gear change. In the Aston you have to push a clutch pedal down, select a gear, release the clutch pedal and accelerate again. In the California however, you pull a paddle and bang your off. If the Aston had a Ferrari gear box then it would be down to the laws of physics to decide.

That California is way faster than I thought it was! I can't believe that Aston Martin can only get 510 bhp from a 6 liter V12. That's sad. The Ferrari 599 GTB has the same displacement and cylinders and gets 620 bhp.

@redfoxtrident EXACTLY!!! bentley's supersport v12 has 612 hp, rolls royce's v-12 puts out more bhp for crying out loud... underpowered. aston martin litterally produces the slowest v-12 in the industry. bmw, ferrari, lambo, rolls, bentley, mecedes benz, and maybach's v-12's all top the aston martins. honestly it's the slowest car in it's class... it's one of the more beautiful and comfortable cars, don't get me wrong, but it's really the slowest in ti's class. what car does it beat, really?

@redfoxtrident it's a touring car... not a supercar. it's 0-60 time is 4.2, the standard db9 is roughly the speed of a 25k gt mustang with it's 4.7 0-60 time. i'm just saying. it's a car driven by luxury over speed and it shows... i'm just saying, it did just get smoked by a 450hp v8 converitble that weighes 3600lbs
