In their E3 hands-on preview with the Pet Creator Tool, GameMarshal was able to uncover that your pets can mate and produce off-spring, although no cross-species breeding is allowed, genetics would be passed down to pet offspring, and you'll be able to assign unique characteristics to your pets

I prefer The Sims 2 over 3, but I had a feeling that when the Sims 3 pets version came out they would finally be smart enough to have horses since people have wanted that for a while. Why do people think it will be stand alone for the PS3/360?

The PS3/360 are capable of having expansions. Take the games Fallout 3 or Oblivion for example. I really don't understand why people are so ignorant to this fact.

it looks like a standalone game. Normally when it's an EP it's for PC/MAC only. Standalones are multiplatform. :(

@SimGoodies Yes, Pet was multiplatform and if you remember those were stand alone games not EP's. The Pets EP was only for pc. There are marked differences in the way the games are played between console and PC, so they almost never release them at the same time. I could be and hope I am wrong about it being a standalone game, but that's what it looks like to me. kind of like they did with "Castaway" "Life" and "Pet Stories"

@amazonqueen why does it have to be a Standalone just because it is also for consoles? the 360, PS3, and 3DS(yes look it up) are all capable of having DLC meaning it could be an expansion for the Sims 3 games on those platforms also,

Just saying it can go either way. Consoles are not going to do DLC for the sims, because they won't make money that way. It could very well be an EP for the PC and a stand alone for consoles. But you also have to be prepared for a stand alone on PC's as well. If it is an EP for consoles (which I doubt because of console limitations) it will be a first. I would be very excited if it is a EP for PC, but I will wait for an official announcement.

@Nhut1000 actually it could be an expansion for the PS3 and 360 version of The Sims 3 too. since console games for those consoles can also have DLC. Take the console versions of Fallout 3 and Oblivion for example. Although the DS version is definitely standalone. All that matters to me though is that it is an expansion for the PC version.

@Nhut1000 It is coming out for the PC too and it is almost certainly an expansion for the PC but I was saying there is a pretty good chance it is an expansion since the 360/PS3 too. The 360/PS3 are capable of having expansions(actually the original Xbox was too but it was rare) so it is definitely a possible that it will be DLC for those consoles.
