  • got enough amps lol, you got your own store

  • Good video, I use the same cleaners :-)

  • Nice vid!

  • Shtring cleaner

  • he clean the guitars very good that you can see him reflected on the james hetfield guitar

  • Do you have to take the metal frets off to clean the fretboard? Thanks for the video! :)

  • Can you clean a guitar if it has a matte black finish?

  • @sumner1879 I personally wouldn't, but it probably wouldn't harm the guitar :-)

  • TTK

great video especially for a newbie like me

    thanks

  • I too put the 65 on a cloth and pinch the strings. And here's something I picked up form an older guitarst years ago. Before I play the guitar I lubricate the strings & fretboard with almond oil. It's cheap and you can find it in a pharmacy.

  • Cool video TK, I use the same cleaner the 65 and clean my guitars the same way.Good to know I'm doing it right.

  • I have bought a new gibson (explorer bass ltd) which has a nitrocellulose finish. I have heard that nitrocellulose is very delicate and it gets ruined easily. Does the dunlop polish work well with that kind of finish as well

  • Oh god that sound!!

  • Nice one TK, not that I didn't know how to look after my guitars but is always fun to watch how someone else does it (although my wife thinks I am a bit odd for doing so).

  • Hey Tone King, nice video as always, I have a question if you don't mind, I have a Washburn N2, not glossy finish, natural wood I think. (My English is not native). What do you recommend?

  • You have to watch out with what you clean your guitar with. I had a beautiful black Ibanez, I used some cheap, coarse-as-all-hell paper towel. I put so many tiny surface scratches in the thing it almost looked like an old fashioned metal engraving.

  • The noise of the string cleaning was like nails on a chalk board! Uhh. Shiver me timbers! I bought this little plastic rectangle thing with a sponge on either side. You put your cleaner on each side and close it over the strings, then run it up and down a few times. Works pretty well, and it doesn't make that horrific sound. And I rub lemon oil onto the fret board so it stays nice and crack free.

  • This is class man Dunlop all the way! Thanks TTK! :)

  • WHY WHOULD I WANT TO WATCH TTK CLEANING SOME1 ELSE'S GUITAR ? LOL .....U THE BEST KEEP IT UP

  • I am with you buddy! I cant stand a filthy, dusty, finger print covered guitar. But I go one step further. I start by spraying a cotton cloth with Windex. THAT is the only way to truely clean a guitar. You really just rubbed the dirt and oil around and spread it out so it can't be seen. Clean it first with a real cleaner and then use the Dunlop 65 to polish and give it a protective coating. Then it is really clean and protected.

  • You were right about the nasty noise. My cat woke up right away and looked around the room :P

  • And you do this 3-5 times a day? Haha

  • holy shit you werent lieing when you said i wasent going to like the sound lmao.

  • LOL only the TTK could get 1000 views for a video on how to clean a guitar!!! Is that cleaning chemical ok to use on non-glossy finish neck too?

  • @gh05trider9 LOL. as for non glossy finishes - I use that on everything, and never had a problem. With that said - most cleaners have some sort of instructions - especially the fingerboard cleaners, so it's always best to check the instructions - but I never had a problem w/ the Dunlop 65. No problems here.

  • @lmsjr tone king great reviews, true inspiration. could you check out my playing on my channel and give advice it would be much appricated :)

  • @gh05trider9 I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a lot of views on a guitar cleaning video.

  • Any video on how to setup your guitar?

    Btw thanks for the tips!

  • The reflection of your moves from guitar come with delay. That's amazing. Btw thx for tips!

  • You really enjoy cleaning your guitars, don't you? :)

  • great video dude!

could you possibly do a video sometime on all of your guitars so we can see your collection? thanks :)

  • Pretty basic stuff that more of us should be doing a heck of a lot more often. Thanks for another great video.

  • Good video though, I should start doing this more often.

  • I dont bother doing this. I only ever do it when I change strings. And I guess Im lucky that I prefer finishes that dont show up finger prints too badly. I would never buy a piano black guitar.

  • i use harley gloss works really well its a light wax

  • That's refreshing

    Thanks TTK

  • Do you ever sell any of your gear?

  • great video idea!

  • Paul from GW should watch this. His guitars always look like crap.

  • Rock on TK!! Great video. I love the D65 stuff. What do u use for a tung oil back of neck finish ?

  • i miss my esp

  • ttk is getin high from sniffen the cleaner spray hahahaha :)

  • Haha you should do the nasty string cleaning sound while using an amp, lots of distortion too ;) would sound horrible haha

  • This may sound like a dumb question, but would you do anything differently for clean a guitar with a matte finish?

  • I can ATTEST to the dunlop 65 guitar polish! We use it in the shop when we do a guitar repair, we clean the guitars with D65 and the ycome up like new!

    Really does the Finish well.

We also have Andrea Polish which is cheaper and its almost as good. My boss gave me a bottle, it cleaned my guitars nicely!

  • I use Protect All with Carnauba Wax. I just change the strings. Great vid.

  • Man, you are such a hero!

  • thumbs if you're watching this video in the guitar in the backround :P

  • My guitar looks so pretty, haha!! Thanks Tone King!

  • You're obviously a guy who loves each and every one of your instruments. The time you put into them really shows. I just want to shake your hand lol.

  • SUPER helpful! thanks a ton! i've had that string cleaner forever and i could never figure out how to use it properly but your method works SO much better! thank you again!

  • Helps out alot

  • Wet Spot! Love it!!!

  • Can you go over fretboard cleaners and stuff like eventually? I never cleaned my fret board before and all of the comments I read on products usually talk about rosewood and other woods.

  • hey tk....the Dunlap cleaning kits are awsum! ive been using them for decades! I am also big on lemon oiling my rosewood and ebony boards...I oil the fret boards every few months.

  • Can you do a tutorial using dunlop 01/02 fretboard cleaner?

  • Will the string cleaner remove the rust from the strings? > < sorry bit of a noob here lol

  • I didn't realize that viper was a bolt on. I don't like that.

  • I love these unorthodox videos like this... They really rock the house man. More like this please!

  • haha the shamwow guy

  • I have the Lemon Oil for my fretboard, I oil the rosewood fretboards about twice a year. I use the Gibson polish that works good just like any others out there. I have to get between the pickups too. To avail getting spray where you don't want it you can spray your cloth instead of directly to the guitar. We do the exact same thing TK. I can't stand a fingerprinted guitar, the oils from your hands will breakdown the strings. Great video.

  • Anyway nice video ! I basically do all the same stuff minus the neck and the back

  • Lucky winners! I tuned into the webcast for the first time. My first time using ustream even! Probably crashed the show trying to get in with my iPad! Nice guitar. Nice orange amp. Congrats to those two winners. Marry x-Mas

  • String Cleaner... hmmm is that necessary? Your spos to replace them like once a month

  • @AssassinSteven if you want to play grimey strings then you dont have to

  • all my guitars are hung, hung big!

  • you are amazing lol Thanks for the lesson, i clean my guitar but never really had a proper tutorial like this, im going to buy those items because i definitely want to get the most use out of my strings in a longer period of time, also i love seeing my guitar shine and the strings fresh :-)

  • Nice video. Already knew pretty much everything, but opinions on products are always nice. :) I buy gear in a local music shop and they always clean a guitar if you buy one. :)

  • what is string cleaner? lemon oil?

  • about time someone made this type of video! thanks! always wanted to know how to clean my guitar properly.
