@YoungxGun2000 During the day inmates are not locked down and are free to go to the day room or take a shower or whatever. This is a county jail not a prison. most of the guys you see here are in for non-violent crimes like failure to appear on a traffic ticket, shoplifting, drug possession and things like that. The inmates in for violent crimes like murder, armed robbery, rape and things like that are always locked down.

It's nice that someone was finally able to show others something like this. There are a lot of people in prisons and state hospitals who made small mistakes in their lives and wound up where they are, but aren't complete animals. I worked at a state hospital for a short time and had a minor incident where a couple of inmates showed up faster than my coworkers to stop what would have otherwise ended badly. Kudos.

It's not as if they'll get off just because they helped a guard. They could have just watched it happen and not done anything. They wouldn't get in trouble for that, so why didn't they? Sometimes people make mistakes that they regret making. One mistake doesn't make them any less human.

@ReaggeOwns Not everyone in a prison are scumbags. I have a cousin who went to prison for self defence when three guys ganged up on him. What they didn't realize is that my cousin is a good fighter. So they ended up in worse shape than he did, and he got 20 yrs in prison. The worst part is the boys got off with nothing but probation; they have really important corporate fathers in really high up places. Not everyone in jail had the same situation, but not everyone is a jerk either.

I work in a prison. More than likely, that officer was one who did his job, and treated people fairly. When the rules said that offenders should get something, he made sure they got it. When the rules said that offenders should not get something, he said, "No.", but did not act like he was all happy about telling them that. He just did his job.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It even works in prison, and carries its own reward.
