Don't get me wrong W.Germany were a great team but Italy were even better with many more great players.I still think to this day if Italy had went to the final they would have comfortably beaten W.Germany maybe 3-1 or 2-0. Remember the third place match between Italy v England? The final score was 2-1 to Italy and could easily have been 4-1. To put it into perspective W.Germany drew 1-1 with England. Now think about it, both of these teams play similar style of football

A more fitting final would have been Italy V West Germany, Italy would have won easily, as they were the best team in the tournament with great players like Baresi, Scillaci, Donadoni, Baggio. W.Germany and England were the 2nd best teams. W.Germany were lucky Argentina Knocked out Italy on penalties otherwise it would have been Italy's 4th world cup victory back then, although it's 4 now after 2006.
