LOVE this song and was thrilled to hear it live last year! I love "The Hunter" and always admired Blondie's adventurousness and lack of concern with what critics think. So refreshing!
this was one of the better tracks on the album but lets face it, (and I am a huge Blondie fan) the band were starting to sound tired on this record. This, Danceway, War Child, English Boys & The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game were the best tracks, the others were pretty average and you only have to compare them to the songwriting displayed on the first album & Parallel Lines.
@AimersSB I know that.... I was just saying that the music on their first album (Blondie) & Parallel Lines was better.... I didn't mention anything about Plastic Letters because my faves happen to be the two I mention above.
Esta banda" blondie"me traz muita saudade da minha adolecencia ,fez parte da melhor epoca que todos nós temos ,ser adolecente é muito bom eter historia pra contar .
Of Chris's Illness, The tragedy of their breakup...the dark autumn of 1983...etc...but back then News travelled SLOW, oh, so slow...alas...Finally in 1986 I found out what had happened...
Back in the autumn of 1982, they suddenly dissapeared! Just when I was waiting for their NEW LP (this one!) and No one had any CLUE! If only we had had the world wide web, I would have known...
Great LP! But,I think it had absolutely NO PROMOTION whatsoever! It's too bad we did not have the Internet back then, I am one of their biggfest fans and yet... (continued)
I think it is primarily based on a Jungle theam, but is so contempary it could be for anything. I read the booklet that came with the 2001 reissue, and mike chapman said it was.
Chrislovesblondie: I never perceived this song as being about an "aliens" or "space" thing at all. The lyrics and drums conjure up a Jungle adventure; running from tribal headhunters etc....
Agrre soem of Blondies more polished work is on the Hunter.Dont you think Blondies version fo For your eyes only was a much better offering for the Bond movie?I guess just bad choices and poor managment account for a lot.Paul Cabonara has come up with alot of nice things but instead soem really bad junk ended up on the curse of Blondie.
this would have made a great video! Oh the pain of what could have been. Debbie in a safari hat, the boys her guides, cannibals chanting orchidia, a trip up a jungle river in a canoe.... the video that was never was.
oh yes the hunter is their best album i think i often change my mind but always come back to it orchid club is superb

Whenever I listen to this song I always picture Debbie Harry as a archaeologist searching for a long lost city inside the jungle.

@xoffender74 Actually, Blondie was the first album, Plastic Letters was second. Parallel Lines was the third.

this is the best Blondie album. It should of got more credit than most of their albums. The Beast has always been my favorite song.

Well the overall feeling is a jungle adventure but the content is about searching for the "right guy" i guess???

The Hunter had some really good tracks. I don't understand why it did so poorly...

Surely one of the most under rated Blondie tracks ever. Epic.
