You cant really compare Barrett and Gilmour, although floyd continued after barrett left, as a band they were never the same and there was very little musical thread from the first album. Barretts musical legacy lives on in blur, While later floyd has never really been covered by anyone.

For god's shake, these kind of arguments are childish. They should fully reunite the band as one to say a last goodbye to their original leader (Syd) and for all the Pink Floyd fans
The Genius was Syd. Roger is a great bassist and good song writter, but the band's success without him, while his solo albums were mediocre at best, is testimony to him not being the keystone to the band. David Gilmore is one of the greatest guitarists of all time and is a better vocalist than Waters.

A New Machine is a fooking great song! Well, great songs. Dogs of War is bad, though the sax is good. Division Bell isn't good, it's great.
