  • I wish they would put up the full version with Heavy D (R.I.P.) doing the break it down.

  • a true classic! i wish Janet would get back to just doing it!

  • she is amazing

  • i LOOVE JANET JACKSONS CHANNEL SOO MUCH!!

i OONLY WISH I COULD LOOK AT IT LIVE AGAIN..

bUT i'M BROKEDED.. so I'll stick to her stills and vids..

  • I know I'm not the only one who thinks that Janet looks like she could be Michael's twin in this.

  • Dis track & clip is the shizzz,

  • un très grand clip

  • This is my fav video of J.J. because of the dance routines, I remember back in the day hating MTV & BET so much because they didn't show this as much as they should have. M.J. & J.J. have always paid Honor 2 all the Pioneers that paved the way 4 them & others. Such Appreciation 4 some of the Greats, now & days there's no recognition from singers (not Artist) 2 their past, it's all about me, I did it all on my own. Not true! Everybody have bitten off some1 Genius work, give credit where it is do.

  • Love Janet! Just an amazing video paying respect to the legends who paved the way . R.I.P. Cab Calloway,Cyd Charisse and Foyard and Harold Nicholas.

  • she is a boss for this video. this song was always a favorite!

  • At 6:14 u can see a young Tupac. No lie.

  • @dunnydun1 omg i see him lol

  • Very fabulous past 40 as she was in her 60's here! I just hope I can do all she did and look that great at 60...50..40...back then...wow!!! 60's just ain't for sittin' on the porch swattin' flies any more. 60 year olds are doing more than some 20/30 year olds I know!!!

  • Who was the older lady in the red dress doing the dance with her?

  • @blkazn77 - The fabulous Cyd Charisse.

  • @Mandi7882 Oh, ok. I thought she was captivating. How amazing is it to still be fabulous past 40?

  • I had no idea who Cab Calloway was until I saw this video when I was younger.

  • hahaha awwww i used to try and copy this video clip when i was a little girl..!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha too funny..!!!!

  • Man...Janet is one hell of an artist. She is so real, exciting, and dynamic. It's interesting how her music fits the era in which she creates it, but it also seems ahead of its time b/c you can still enjoy it today.

  • WHAT A VIDEO!...AND SONG!

  • Who's the lady @ 3:00

  • IS THAT MICHAEL?!?!?

  • Cyd Charise in a Janet video is the best thing ever!

  • Sorry it was late at night and I was getting sleepy. I meant to say that this track was released when New Jack Swing music was really popular.

It sounds like a New Jack Swing track! Secondly I meant to add that I wish Michael Jackson was in the is video as well as a dancer of somekind. The Video is near prefection already, but the addition of Michael Jackson would have made it so....

  • @redjam40 No, I think it's perfect the way it is. She was trying separate herself from her siblings especially Michael.

  • @redjam40 there is no such thing as perfection. thats why ppl like mj were perfectionist, they always felt that it wasnt right. and no the video is great they way it is. just Janet because she is a solo artist.

  • @luv4uification - I get the feeling that you think that I am against Janet Jackson. I am Not. I have been to see her Live in London, England during her Rhythm Nation Tour.I think she is a fantastic artist. But I just would have LOVE to seen brother and sister on this video as well.as they were during the video AND MAKING of SCREAM. I think that JANET & MICHAEL really got on

I love this video though. I have nothing against Janet what so ever. She is a first class artist. But I love Michael....

  • @redjam40 no i dont think you are against Janet Jackson, i just feel that the video is fine the way it is. i didnt mean to come off to brash.

  • she's definitely her brother!!lol

  • 3:13 If im not mistaken he was in Janet's video for "Miss You Much" as well, right?

  • I LOVE this video! She looks like a tiny Michael! She is just so gorgeous!! Love you most-est, Janet! XOXOXOX

  • What happend to the Heavy D part? It's like a Thanksgiving meal that somebody forgot the cranberry sauce. There's a lot of great stuff here but ya still notice something's missing.

  • Cab Calloway?! OMG This is my all time favorite music video EVER! I love the 20s and Janet and music and dance and a good story...How can you not love this video?

  • Is remind me Michael Jackson look like her lol...

  • The Nicholas Brothers..are in this.. Wow!

  • @redjam40 Yeah Janet Jackson actually danced with them when she was a child.

  • @naturaluv85 Janet released a big tune from the New Jack Swing era and the the video is out of this world... My only wish was that her Michael was NOT in this video... Other than that it near prefection

  • @redjam40 HUH, I don't understand what you said.

  • im lovin it

  • She is definitely Michael Jackson's sister.

  • This video kicks all ass

  • she is the only Jackson i could ever get into. she was the only one not crazy. i could definitely see her kicking it with the girls from around the way, and entertain the elite society.

  • @cavstony i dont think any of them are crazy , they are all human beings in my eyes. *shrugs*

  • my god, how can anyone thumbs down this video - it's a work of art.

  • J.J.did a hell of a job.been listening to cab since i was a kid and stil to this day, stil love his music.

  • this was janet at her best

  • @JSornon yeah rhythm nation was her most innovative era

  • Anybody know who the lady in red is at 3:00?

  • @5magyes Janet is dancing with the legendary Cyd Charisse (1922-2008) She was 68 years old in this video.

  • One of my favorite reasons to watch Janet Jackson videos is the dancing! Epic dancing. This song is so bright, I like it. Though she reminded me of MJ in smooth criminal :D So I'm going to watch that video next (it, too, has epic dancing) hhaha :D

  • Legend. Pure legend.

  • i love alll of janet jackson's videos. the best artist ever!!!!!!

  • Great video!

  • this is my favorite janet jackson video because it has so much mix ups with the 80's and even the 60's

  • there's a bit of Paula Abdul in this video.. but its ok i love her regardless

  • @voltes85 Fuck off.

  • I thought it was Michael for the first 2 seconds of seeing Janet. I think she got the idea for this video from Smooth Criminal.

  • sooooo forgot about this song~ love love love

  • Pssst..don't miss the guy Vogue-ing towards the end!! (He slides by your screen at 5:54. And yes this came out right before Madonna's Vogue video!!) So many dance styles (real old to new) in this video. Wonderful!!!

  • this was my shit when I was a kid I was 10 years old when this video came out it seems like just yesterday I was watching this on BET'S video soul back when BET was fun to watch lol. I use to love when she breaks it down on the hopscotch lol Im glad im an 80's baby 1980 to be exact

  • Thank you for uploading this video. I have always loved it as it pays great homage to the greatest dancers America ever had; and new ones as well. Julien Temple was the video man..Janet was as lovely and entertaining as ever. And every time I hear this song I want to sing and dance! Can't say that even about 10% of the music today...

  • She is a work of art... All around entertainer. Love her .. (^_^)

  • greatest music video of all time

  • O my gosh when she started dancing with the other woman at 3:03 it reminded me so much of michael dancing in black or white video in the middle of the street with the indian woman

  • they dont make videos like this that are fun to watch everythings about sex and being a thug nowadays

  • I get the biggest KICK out of this masterpiece...

  • @headacherack Masterpiece it is. Its never framed as such but this video is in the category with Thriller as far as originality, choreography, lyrics, plot line etc. Love the tributes Sid,Cab,and the Nicholas Bros. YouTube these stars to anyone not familiar with their work. Great gesture on Janet's part. Lightning struck twice in that family.

  • @drfittt thanks for that return input. I love the great preforming arts. And you are so right lightning certainly did strike twice.

  • love diz vid

  • That's my favourite song from her :D

  • this is one of my favorite videos by Janet i love her so much she's definitely my idol in all ways and i love the part when she danced with my love Cyd Charisse it was so cute :) RIP The hair style she had too when she came out of the car i wore my hair like that to school and people loved it if only they knew who it was inspired by :) my bang was on the right side though lol aww she looks just like MJ at the end sleeping :) RIP HERO

  • an awesome mini-movie. I love it. Cab callaway? wow!! outstanding.

  • Gosh she has aged beautifully init!!!loool!! janet jackson is a legend!!

  • This is a very great vid and to me its like a female remake of her brothers song Smoothe Crminal ,and i love both and both are really great.

  • my favorite part is 1:55...

  • Janet does it again wit dat firece catwalking.

    Love it man.

  • That smile at 3:11 knocks me out!!!!! Man-O-Man she's beautiful.

  • You know a song and video is great when you saw it the first time years ago then watch it years later with the same degree of excitement!

I'm going to look for the DVD!

  • @JEDI7ACEN Its on the Design of a Decade DVD (and the Rhythm Nation Compilation DVD I think too).

  • @thefloacist Thanks for the info, also did they edit out Heavy D from this or is this just another version?

  • I wish this long version was on the album. If it came out as a reissue I would buy it with a quckness!

  • This is one of my fav vid ever by her, right behind Rhythm Nation. Janet was dancing her ass off in this vid!!!!! Luv IT!!!!

  • OUTSTANDING VIDEO,EVEN 20 YEARS LATER!

  • This video is SO great. The song is perfect for the time too. Classic Janet.

  • Yes it´s a brilliant tune - check the house mix. Supercool video!

  • This song was 20 years ago no.9 in the world charts

  • This video shows Her brother wasn't the only talented one in the family

  • rip to the Nicholas Brothers....and Cab Calloway!!!!

  • This song was 20 years ago no.9 in the world charts

  • Cab Calloway giving the watch to Janet symbolized the beginning of a new era in time within music with the next upcoming generation. He was giving her his mantle, if you will; passing the torch.

  • @zeevideo Lord...he was simply giving her the watch she'd dropped earlier..it wasn't his watch.

  • OMG!!!! I love this song!!!! This video is off the chain!!!

  • love u janet

  • Cyd Charisse - Legend!

RIP, Cyd and Michael, two of the greatest dancers on the planet.

  • I remember this video!

  • I this song from Janet Jackson!

  • Here are some technical facts. This video was shot in February 1990 and premiered on the screen of a Rhythm Nation 1814 tour date on March 23, 1990. The song itself was originally recorded in February 1989 at Flyte Tyme, Minneapolis and this remix was recorded with Heavy D in January 1990 at Flyte Tyme's then new Edina, MN studios.

  • she kinda looks like Michael in Smooth Criminal!! omg!!

    nice song & moves!!

  • TThat was great!!!

  • Not only favorite song but favorite video as well. Janet & Michael due how to make timeless music videos

  • Janet Jackson= LEGEND, ICON, QUEEN!!! GO HEAD JANET!!! I GOT'CHU!!!

  • I had completely forgotten that The Greatest dancers of the 20th century, The Nicholas Brothers, and the legendary Cab Calloway and Cyd Charisse were in this video. Back then when I was 18, I always wondered who these 'old people' were in this video

  • Amazing video! This will be a sure classic. The Jackson's are true masters of entertainment.

  • @totaljett LOL!!!

  • LMFAO

  • dance moves are amazing janet forever xxx

  • How I love this video! And i'm just realizing that the Nicholas Brothers are in this video, too...

  • Man, what is the name of that dance that Janet does starting at 1:55 with the other girls and that little boy (who I thnk is Brandon Adams from the Moonwalker movie) on the stairs? It ranks up there with the late 80s moves like Roger Rabbit, Robocop, and Running Man

  • Dnt yall Wish Mike and JAnet did More Videos together it wouldve been SOOO cool...Their music is so Great!!!

  • anione... can tell me wat shoes are janet wearin??

  • seems Like smooth criminal :D

    I love this song !!

  • I have'nt seen this since it came on VIDEO SOUL with Donnie Simpson

  • Does anyone know who choreographed this?

  • ANTHONY THOMAS

  • Thankyou! I'm guessing he choreography all the videos from Rhythm Nation then?

  • that's right!... he was the choreographer for all these videos. On 1993, was Tina Landon, and on 1986, Paula Abdul.

  • Sorry I meant choreographed*

Oh didn't know about Tina Landon ah thankyou!

  • i know the guy who is playing the card game choreographed it...is that his name?

  • My favorite song from Janet. Never gets old. This song STILL KILLS a lot of the music that's out now.

    JANET JACKSON = LEGEND!!!

  • @DusLife janet should be in hall of fame rock and roll she came out in 1984... with the cut come give your loveto me

  • fucking classic

  • Great Video and awesome choreography !

  • that's funny that they decide to have the nicholas brothers in this episode since they worked with cab calloway before.

  • I was so obsessed with Janet Jackson back in the day. Does anyone know when she is doing a concert again?

  • isn't there supposed to be a rap in the video version of this song?

  • This music video is so awesome, i love the song and the dance moves. After seeing this on VH1 Soul, i had to see it again.

  • I don't get it. Can someone explain this to me?

  • cab calloway is a a bigband/swing composer from the 40s and this is set in the 40s

  • Cant believe this only has 11,000 something hits..............great video and song!!

  • the family jackson are incredible... janet dance and dance and don't stop to dance....

  • or don't stop till you get enough.

  • I miss this old stye of Janet.....

  • I feel like this is a happier version of MJ's smooth Criminal video. I don't like to compare the two of them to each other but in my mind this has a lot of similarities. I like both videos with out a doubt, but i think this one has more good dance moves in it. People might think that's crazy but it's my opinion and we all know what opinions are like.....

  • @Waikhru12345

Yeah, it's kinda crazy! The choreagraphy in Smooth Criminal is like a 1000 times better .. IMO ;)

But I see what you mean 'comparing' them .. Black Cat and Dirty Diana has a lot of similarities as well :)

  • @YoMissTinkerbell I guess what I am comparing are the obvious similarities, especially the way they're dressed. Two excellent videos.

  • Did you know Janet Jackson's Rythm Nation video was Michael Jackson's idea.

  • The military concept, not the video :)

  • Cyd Charisse looks amazing and she can still dance. You younger people want to see great dancing check her out in some of her old movies. They probably have some here.

  • janet is incredible wow u go girl.

  • It would've been awesome to see a crossover of alright and smooth criminal

  • One of the greatest music videos ever! I love the icons of my generation. How boring my childhood and teenage years would have been without Janet, Michael, Prince, Madonna!! The greats!

  • One of her best. Hands down.

  • Cab Calloway, The Nicholas brothers dancing! (One who was married to Dorothy Dandridge and on the Five Heartbeats movie). This was a tribute to many great people that I didin't even realize it! I was like 12 when this came out. And the dancing! Janet & Michael really brought dancing to videos. PERIOD!
