Thanks for posting this, I know this song because of a Popeye episode from the '30s of the same name. My 4 year old was watching a cartoon today that had this song and it reminded me of the Popeye cartoon I saw many years ago. It's been many years since I've seen and heard a 78, this is great!

Pass one window, tid-e-o, pass two windows, tid-e-o, pass three windows, etc. Used to sing this as a child (I guess that dates me). Did the Hudson-DeLange arrangement come from that little song?

Thanks for sharing the history of it. I didn't think any jazz/swing arrangements of it went back further than Jimmy Smith's version.
