I like the le sabre engine, yesterday I beat a V8 2006 Expedition, with a 1998 Le sabre, it was pretty cool, I know theres no comparation, but it felt good. I just need to find another car to put this engine in it.
@Arturol2 i love those cars they float but the motor in it really isnt anything special. theres tons of those in the junkyards you could get. i got a idea for you,go buy the supercharged 3.8 out of a gran prix gtp, monte carlo ss or a buick park avenue then have the blower ported and get the heads ported to match the blower then put a lil pulley on the blower then put it in your buick! lol buy the top end off a L67 3.8 and put it on your motor then it will be quick.
The T bird came with three different motor, handling, and tranny packages. If this had been a good t-bird, you would have been beat, no quistion. All buick lesabres have is the 3.8. Stout motor, but Ive seen alot of them at the shop. They dont hold together long.
Actually, the 3800 motors are considered pretty reliable engines and people typically drive their 3800 cars until the wheels fall off. They were probably getting their routine maintenance done or having parts of the car worked on since it couldn't last as long as the motor :)
I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement and opinion, but as such, you are entitled to it and I will not spew garbage against it. I will say that MY personal experience and testimonials that I've read or heard from friends, online or otherwise, show strong support for the 3800 engines in general and I will continue to maintain that position until otherwise noted heretofore. :P
Got a little fancy there...but I still stand by the 3.8.
Over here, in buick lesabres and such, there bought just becouse there cheap, and the horsepower is a pleasent but rarely used surprise. I've worked on alot of buicks in the class im taking, and everyone in the class is a fan of the motor. (we have two 3.8's sitting side by side on wood planks in the shop right now) There just not maintanted as they should be, and there drove hard and put up wet so to speak. Its not the motors fault we see them often, its the drivers.
@Halogen360 My parents are going through that with their 2000 Le Sabre. The engine NEVER breaks but plenty of other stuff has broken. Also, unlike their previous GM cars, there is no rust on their 10 year old vehicle whereas all their past vehicles started to rust within 5 or so years on the salted winter roads here in Nebraska. I got a 2005 Le Sabre and I'm sure I'll be going through the same thing. LOL!
@Halogen360 Bellevue. I imagine they salt the roads so much there during the winter storms that they look white just from the salt even after teh snow/ice has all melted as well. Still, just clean the Le Sabre a couple times and the body on it will stay rust free despite it all.
Yeah, salt is plentiful here in Lincoln during the winter months, lol. Hasn't caused any real trouble for my car yet though. I drive an '01 Cadillac Seville and it's holding together pretty good. You can check out my vids, but it moves pretty nicely.
I was gonna be angry if the ford owned the buick, cause I know a lesabre can eat a v6 thunderbird, and probably at least keep up with a stock 5.0 for a little bit.
yeh id race you an that thunderbird in my 97 lesabre an eat you both up =] cuz thats just the way it is

Let me refrase- good drivers dont buy buicks. The 3.8 has proven itself to me already, the GNX is all the proof I need.

Considering your new comment regarding the whole class/shop thing, I am much more at ease now with your standing.

I meant no disrespect to you or the 3.8, its just a fact around here.

Try lining up against something with power.... You would be in the mirror of my '91 Bird...... Or my '88 Cougar for that matter....
