  • can it heat my soup

  • some great inforamtion here thanks

  • So this is how you make super heroes.

  • what are they even doing

  • whats the background music called?

  • cleanliness construction crew i've seen.

  • This is what I should have asked for for X-mas

  • Life size legos : o lol

  • this is in rochester? like rochester ny? wtf i did not know we had any smart people here anymore lol

  • Is it gonna blow up something?

  • Look, when I click on a video of the world's most powerful laser, I expect to see something get burned! :)

  • IMMA FIRIM MA LAYZUR

  • 1.21 JIGGAWATTS!?!?!?!

  • nice, but will it blend

  • Finally not a video of a kid filming his computer screen and showing you a retarded laser.

  • there GOES YOUR MONEY TAXPAYERS!!!

  • @WHKFTP so scientific progression is a waste of money? do you really think that some big fat politician woke up one morning and was like... fuck... i want a laser motherfuck! NO! your naive to think that this is a frivolous thing. i cant believe that someone would say scientific progression is a waste of money. do you even realize how important lasers are?

  • Is visible in fog ? :))))

  • @10mintwo I happen to be a pimple faced teenager, but I do appreciate these kind of things.

  • @TheSalazara We all were at one time. Stick with your studies, the pursuit of scientific inquiry is the most ennobling and fruitful of all human endeavors, and the rigorous intellectual discipline it affords to those who understand it is of enormous, incalculable value.

  • Now make a nuclear powered car

  • why was this built and what is it used for ?

  • point it at the moon...

  • World Biggest CD Case burner.

  • I like the part when the guy in the white suit runs around.

  • three years of construction for that......you better make me a lazer rifle.

  • all this is in a clean room, Holly Shi~~~t.

  • APERTURE

  • all that to burn matches and paper

  • aim this laser at the sky, and aliens might come.

  • hope someone aim this laser at Justin Bieber

  • i think they diserve a like just for all the work theyhave done!!!!!

  • That is the cleanest fabrication shop i've ever seen.It would be great place to work at.Peace

  • BUT...

    will it blend?

  • Great song choice!

  • S3 spyder arctic looks more powerful

  • Ima firin mah laser?

  • all i see is a waste of a million bucks

  • but the question is can it lit a match

  • they couldn't make their mind how to decorate the room

  • do you have link where it show the test of that laser?

  • is it just me or the colors are fairytale style? :p

  • 25 people is afraid of if they get the laser in to the eye!

  • umm lol what wheppens when i point the laser to a 737-800

  • 1:04 you see someone sitting on the table, how lazy! and shortly after it looks like one guys getting pushed around on the trolley, but he could be walking? its too fast. But yeah i love the big door which they open shove things in then quickly close. Just imagine how much moneys worth is inside that building!

  • Why do people dislike this D:

  • >.< i wanted to saw laser longer... not 3 sec.

  • I liked the music (:

  • SO MANY JIGAWATTS! :'D

  • the most powerful laser is 500,000,000,000,000 W and is being built to try and create a reliable fusion reaction.

  • how did they get the bugs out of the hall :D with souch a big window

i bet there are some :D

and their will be the time when the mashine is buggy because of the bugs :D

  • @Mediph They didn't. But because there's nothing for them to eat inside the cleanroom they all just died after a very short time. Occasionally, you will still find the odd dead ladybug in some difficult to access corner. :)

  • @10mintwo Oh, I thought it was because they burned them with their hand-held lasers. lol

  • @Mediph especially concidering we all know bugs like lights...

  • They made the laser to get rid of the bugs.

  • Takes 2 years to build this but like 1 month to fix a part of the road?

  • I doubt it will be 100 years before lasers are weaponized. I mean, 40 years ago, computers took up entire rooms too, they said it would take 150 years for them to be portable, yet now we basically have supercomputers in our cell phones, which are rarely thicker than 1 inch.

  • @ExtremeFaceLaugh They have already made laser pointers with have an output of over 1 watt which if used in the wrong hands could blind ppl burn etc. These would have been really expensive to buy last year but now you can get one for 299 dollars plus it looks like a lightsaber lol

  • I wonder how many years it took Dexter to build his laboratory.

  • Peta Watt? I didn't know power could be tamed to be a pet.

  • G-mod IRL

  • In 100 years, we're going to have mother fuckin light sabers!!! :D

too bad none of right now will be able to use them because we're going to be dead or too old and wrinkley :(

  • I wanted to see it break somethin....or someone =(

  • I didnt see it fire....=(

  • this technolo gy is used to get the energy the sun produces in one second, all the energy the man kind will use in one day, and a city during a month

  • IMA FIRIN MAH LASER! *click*

  • It's an interesting approach in trying to stabilize fusion but I still do believe that the magnetical approach will win the run for fusion, hopefully we'll see the outcome of this in 50 years or so, I hope to be still be alive to see this.

But this project is certainly of major priority for mankind, in order to survive in the future.

  • SHARKSWITHLAZERZZPEWPEW!@@!1!!

  • Death Star?, YaY

  • in few decades, when helium supplies run out I could use this to make some baloons fly, or change my voice. So yea i guess it was worth building it.

  • @wohooo0 It's an interesting thought, but actually even if you doubled the entire world's energy consumption and converted that entire supply to fusion power, the total world output of helium from fusion would be equal to about 0.5% of current global helium consumption.

  • @wohooo0 Use hydrogen hexaflouride, that is much more fun.

  • could we maby signal to life in space with something this powerfull?

  • what all that for that tiny bean???

  • @zhoutai2000 yer lol i kinda thought tht to i was expencting a masiv beam to blow shit up

  • why don't we shoot justin bieber and chuck norris with it

  • Whats the name of the song and who plays it... sorry for being a retard but i cannot remember it...

  • wtf i just saw one of the dudes sitting on table eating a sandwich, and then i saw one playing with a forklift moving his friend around...

or i could be dieing from massive brain bleed from this god damn diet mountain dew...

  • damn, i wish i could build a lazah in under 2 minutes...

  • "Hey guys?"

    "Yeah?"

"Remember, like 3 years ago when we started assembling?"

    "Yeah?"

"Yeah... Uh, I think I left a donut in one of the tubes... Just remembered, I never finished that donut, and I never saw it again... Think we can... take them apart and look for it ?"

  • ITS OVER 9000!!! MAGAWATS

  • thats a 50 billion dollar investment for a 3 dollar solution -.-

  • nice laserpointer! going to use this on my next presentation

  • how much power this took, lolz probably need a sperate nuclear power plant o.o

  • its essentially a big ass laser toy that scientists gets to play with .

  • ITS THE DEATHSTAR IN DISGUISE

  • what is use for?

  • NOW SEE HE TRUE POWER OF THE DEATH STARRR

  • its halloween everyday in there

  • That is some pretty clever people there!

  • IT'S WONKAVISION

  • i would hate to show this to friends and family everytime :(

  • @umpalumpa555 Hmm Why?

  • industrial popcorn maker?

  • wat is that tin foil thing is it a baked potato?

  • wonder if this would take down a ufo

  • i want one!

  • @dodgedart74 I have two of them.

  • fire za laser! star wars style :D

  • Гора родила мышь

  • whats with the mr belvedere music?

  • LAZAAR !! * PEW PEW PEW *

  • people in lab coats make me laugh

  • Now we just have to wait another 100 or so years until they scale this down into something we can hold in our hands, then cruz around in our spaceships with wookies and save princesses.

  • @unwirklich1989 well you can blind hookers with a laser pointer and chill wit cho guy in gorilla suit

  • can this burn through a building in seconds?

  • Love the music! (its the Minute Waltz composed by Chopin)

  • The poor scientists think they have created a lab laser, but when they aren't looking the guys in the black pajamas are going to steal it and put it in a satellite and use it to vaporize things like...mount Everest!

  • no this isnt pointless

  • those people are waering bio hazrd suites

  • I think someone is gonna steal it one day

  • @Ondraasha It'll probably be those God Damned Muslims Terrorists!

  • now i know what i want for my birthday!

  • @QuarterSticks some assembly required

  • haha, true that!

  • can i use this as a handheld-laserpointer?

    lol

  • speed hackers

  • @deepengrave your mom is responsible for all the disgrace in this world

  • @deepengrave Yeah, who needs modern cancer treatment or or artifical limbs...

  • God is more to blame.. All religion is, What do you think cause more death? Science or Religion?

  • I was about to assemble similar thing in my basement but I ran out of those blue pillars :(

  • That is a lot of work packed into less than 2 minutes. Worth a look for sure.

  • funny ^^

  • lasers this powerful could be used to cut small things very percisely.

  • wtf dude lasers this fast doesnt cut things they vaporize them

  • you watch to much sci fi

  • or ur just dumb to understand it...

  • i wanted to see it in action...

  • cool

  • DONT give and sell to ussr russia, china, north korea, iran, cuba, france

  • i bet you like usa wrestling...

  • Now show it lighting a match :D

  • it would explode^^

  • Amazing

  • lmao such a giant machine for such a tiny light beam

  • haha i live in rochester and i didnt even know that! haha now how do they get a 10^15 watt laser but i cant get a 10mw laser?!?!?! haha

  • i live right near rochester 0.0

  • what is the point to having such a large laser?? is it some study of laser assisted fusion or nuclear reactions?? is it asimilar to the study of partical accelleration?? just curious i've only a very small understanding of such things, but would appreciate some enlightenment on what it is being used for.

  • yes, all of that is possible with this laser. start at the wikipedia article "inertial confinement fusion".

  • @10mintwo theyr making a sun

  • For doing really big and impressive Power Point presentations....

  • @coolbeans278 10mintwo is wrong, the only reason they built it is so they can scream "chargin meh lazerz!" lol. VERY COOL! 5 STARS

  • @coolbeans278 @coolbeans278 the long tubes are actually glass tubes to amplify laser beams to a certain amount of energy. the beams are then transferred to the ball u see earlier being lifted in to the lab. inside the ball will be a 2 hydrogen atoms encased within a gold capsule. the laser beams will then be focused to the capsule in the ball and cause a nuclear fusion of the 2 H atoms.

  • the resulting output energy released will then be more than the energy used to power the input laser beams, thereby resulting in excess energy to be harnessed. in a way it could be said that this a experimental method to alternative clean energy by replicating the physical process that powers the sun. hope that helped answer your qn.

  • @coolbeans278 For laser fusion research.

  • @coolbeans278 simply put to create a tiny miniature star, hotter than our sun, and creating the ultimate source of energy.

  • @GT4604 Unless Magnetic Confinement fusion succeeds properly in the next decade or two, thus making all this research semi-obsolete. :-P

  • @coolbeans278 its cool :D

  • @coolbeans278 I might be WAY off but I think with a laser this big they are attempting to make a star. They make one but it only lasts for less than a second. I guess if you could essentially jump start a small star you could get a ton of energy for power consumption. I 'm sure I'm way wrong but just guessing

  • @coolbeans278 death star

  • I'd love to see how much it could cut through...

  • and btw wat een lullig lichtje eigenlijk

  • uhhhh waarom?

  • how do the bild that in the star wars space ships.

  • looks like a portal chamber :D

  • Now we just need this in a hand held size

  • Who want to see how does it pop a ballon ? ;-)

  • Or completely incinerate the balloon lmao

  • Now we just need to attach this to the space station and burn USA into foreign countries!

  • ask a starwars fan at 0:42 they will say deathstar

  • i thought it was a death star.....

  • what do you think hey did with this after they got bored of the laser fusion research. can see an evil scientist plot forming..

  • Comment removed

  • I though i'd see a small demo! When I realised how big was the laser , i realised that it could split a car in two!!!

  • with all that moving, wonder why is the floor still so damn clean!!!

  • so is it bad to point this at my eyes?

  • @runallday400j50 It can burn your body lol!

    1 pw!

    not 1 mw

  • @runallday400j50 It depends. It would be good if someone wants you blind.

  • I was in the PALS in Prag, it's gorgeous machine!

  • cool, did you see it fire?

  • My friend works there. It was excursion. And he showed tokamak COMPASS-D

  • what is it used for?

  • funniest thing is it seems like 5 or 6 people built all of that. if that's the case i'm sure they felt their brains were being wasted with all of the tedious building.

  • Intrestig how many cents/or pennies it took to make this Big Boy work

  • ...can it take out an imperial cruiser? Or at the very least a main battle tank?

  • duh... they built one of these for the Death Star... They can take out an entire planet...
