@WHKFTP so scientific progression is a waste of money? do you really think that some big fat politician woke up one morning and was like... fuck... i want a laser motherfuck! NO! your naive to think that this is a frivolous thing. i cant believe that someone would say scientific progression is a waste of money. do you even realize how important lasers are?
@TheSalazara We all were at one time. Stick with your studies, the pursuit of scientific inquiry is the most ennobling and fruitful of all human endeavors, and the rigorous intellectual discipline it affords to those who understand it is of enormous, incalculable value.
Check out my homepage for further experiments using laser. There are several easy to do examples to split the beam, modulate on of the two and then recombine them to produce low frequency beats. These beats should be able to induce currents into the body to transmit sound or steer muscles if used with high power lasers. You dont even need a laser, this can be done with ordinary light and heat radiation as well. The double slit experiment mostly is done with an ordinary light source.
1:04 you see someone sitting on the table, how lazy! and shortly after it looks like one guys getting pushed around on the trolley, but he could be walking? its too fast. But yeah i love the big door which they open shove things in then quickly close. Just imagine how much moneys worth is inside that building!
@Mediph They didn't. But because there's nothing for them to eat inside the cleanroom they all just died after a very short time. Occasionally, you will still find the odd dead ladybug in some difficult to access corner. :)
I doubt it will be 100 years before lasers are weaponized. I mean, 40 years ago, computers took up entire rooms too, they said it would take 150 years for them to be portable, yet now we basically have supercomputers in our cell phones, which are rarely thicker than 1 inch.
@ExtremeFaceLaugh They have already made laser pointers with have an output of over 1 watt which if used in the wrong hands could blind ppl burn etc. These would have been really expensive to buy last year but now you can get one for 299 dollars plus it looks like a lightsaber lol
It's an interesting approach in trying to stabilize fusion but I still do believe that the magnetical approach will win the run for fusion, hopefully we'll see the outcome of this in 50 years or so, I hope to be still be alive to see this.
But this project is certainly of major priority for mankind, in order to survive in the future.
@wohooo0 It's an interesting thought, but actually even if you doubled the entire world's energy consumption and converted that entire supply to fusion power, the total world output of helium from fusion would be equal to about 0.5% of current global helium consumption.
"Remember, like 3 years ago when we started assembling?"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah... Uh, I think I left a donut in one of the tubes... Just remembered, I never finished that donut, and I never saw it again... Think we can... take them apart and look for it ?"
Now we just have to wait another 100 or so years until they scale this down into something we can hold in our hands, then cruz around in our spaceships with wookies and save princesses.
The poor scientists think they have created a lab laser, but when they aren't looking the guys in the black pajamas are going to steal it and put it in a satellite and use it to vaporize things like...mount Everest!
what is the point to having such a large laser?? is it some study of laser assisted fusion or nuclear reactions?? is it asimilar to the study of partical accelleration?? just curious i've only a very small understanding of such things, but would appreciate some enlightenment on what it is being used for.
@coolbeans278@coolbeans278 the long tubes are actually glass tubes to amplify laser beams to a certain amount of energy. the beams are then transferred to the ball u see earlier being lifted in to the lab. inside the ball will be a 2 hydrogen atoms encased within a gold capsule. the laser beams will then be focused to the capsule in the ball and cause a nuclear fusion of the 2 H atoms.
the resulting output energy released will then be more than the energy used to power the input laser beams, thereby resulting in excess energy to be harnessed. in a way it could be said that this a experimental method to alternative clean energy by replicating the physical process that powers the sun. hope that helped answer your qn.
@coolbeans278 I might be WAY off but I think with a laser this big they are attempting to make a star. They make one but it only lasts for less than a second. I guess if you could essentially jump start a small star you could get a ton of energy for power consumption. I 'm sure I'm way wrong but just guessing
