  • I thoight it was nicknamed little bird

  • This is the best light helicopter in the world, proven in battle and special ops time and time again. What ever replaces ii will have some very big shoes to fill, Hughes produced an exceptional machine.

  • no.5??? buahahaha

  • that look alot like md 530

  • i didn't knew that McDonalds is making helicopters

  • @Chucoishighoncoke

Well the MI-28 was designed to counter-act the AH64 and to be used in a CAS and armor support role. It physically looks a little bit similar but they are 2 almost totally different choppers

  • @futurejarhead0311, the AH-64 Apache isn't meant to go up against other aircraft. It's an close air support and anti armor helicopter, not anti aircraft. Russians are stupid for creating an helicopter to go up against other aircraft. American fighters and bombers would destroy enemy aircraft and airfields than AH-64's would get call in to destroy armor such as tanks.

  • @USSOCOMpower Actually, no helicopter can go up against any other helicopter. Helicopters by design are never for air-to-air combat. Kamov Black Shark/Alligators are not very effective in air threats, but they are quite effective against light armors - but the Russian 9K121 Vikhr missile is largely untested and, even to Russian standard, behind that of any modern guided ATM. Rumour suggests that new missiles is under way but so far there is no info available.

  • Its the little bird's dadda!!! :P

  • "killer egg" LMFAO :)

  • they should add the armed version into ArmA 2 OA

  • Did they name these like that puposely like

    OH what's that

    AH it's killing us

  • @1234cm1, OH stands for Observation Helicopter

AH stands for Attack Helicopter or Assault Helicopter

    UH stands Utility Helicopter

    CH stands for Cargo Helicopter

  • i think that the Russians are LEAPS and BOUNDS further in helicopter design than many of the Eurpean and US chopper designs. yes, some western helicopters are buch better on a single helicopter basis than the Russian choppers but the Russians have made MASSIVELY large numbers of decent helicopters so they've made standard helicopters in numbers so massive compared to the western choppers its not funny. not to mention the russians also have a few western type choppers (high quality low numbers)

  • @futurejarhead0311 not to also mention some of our designs were taken and put under thier name(ex:AH-64 Apache=Mi-28)

  • little bird

  • this is a one impressive little american chopper it could fly very low altitudes and also a very fast one it deserves the nickname the killer loach

  • These rankings are very anglo-american biased, imho. A broader view with, say Russian experts, would have been nice. There are a lot of great helicopters built in Russia also in great numbers, not only the Hind. Not to mention Eurocopter etc.

  • @IamtheAlienator What has the eurocopter done? not much

  • I thought they called this helicopter 'Little Bird'?

  • @KagekiyoTaira

little bird is it's nick name which later became popular which is why you know that name b4 it's official name

  • @donsargent Ah, thanks for the info dude.

  • @KagekiyoTaira + guns = Little Bird.

  • @jebustheone Someone already replied to my comment.

  • USA

  • A MI-24 Hind could blow this thing to specs of dust!

  • @SickVicious996... You drive your Hind, I'll drive my LOH, just let me know where and when.

LOH driver Viet Nam war Games 1969

  • @Monkmaster1969 sorry dont have that game. but the time i made that comment, i was just pissed off because of how they ranked each copter. i felt the hind and cayuse should be higher and also the ka 52 and mi 28 havoc should be in this top ten too.

  • Go Top 10!

  • The Flying Egg has become the 'Killer Egg'

  • @wiredlord, some if it ever attacked someone's house would the act of using the OH-6 attacking some house be called Egging?

  • didnt this helicopter be involve in the black hawk down insedint

  • It's actualy a MD-500

  • I don't care who makes the damn helicopter as long as it brings the troops home safe and takes a chunk out of the taliban troop count.

  • little bird?

  • @illlite yep

  • 2 comments down they have made a new one the littlebird used as a medevac, attack support helicopter or a troop incersion helicopter. They took away the rocket pods and it noe has four 7.62 mm machine guns but it has the same amount of manurverability

  • They should make a newer version of this.

  • "The Killer Egg." Badass.

  • great helicopter...a little high on the list...survivability seems a little overrated....would have made a great 8 or 9 spot...should have switched places with the westland lynx

  • The British during WWII took our Sherman tank and turned it into the Firefly which was a hella hard hitting AFV. I thought the British Assault Rifle was something like the L85A2. Which, by the way, I would LOVE to own!!

  • yay, very cool and reliable bird, deserves better spot on this list

  • Wait a min it's a good helicopter it does it's job well.

It is not the best of couse.

  • THE MD_500 in warrock... XD

  • wow I used to play warrock too, too bad I did'nt learned to fly one.

  • "Egg"

    :O!

  • MI-24 Hind is far better than this failure.

  • They're meant for different missions. The Hind is a large attack transport helicopter, while the Cayuse is a light helicopter. That's like comparing a tank to an infantryman. They perform different jobs.

  • but they hav the apache in the top ten which would hav a similar mission to the Hind

  • Again, comparing the Hind to the Cayuse is much different than comparing the Apache to the Hind.

  • i know its pathetic its cuz americans and brits made it

  • Wait WHAT The Brits and Americans have made some of the most advanced equipment and everyday items you use! and Some Helicopters needed lightness you cant always have huge bulky helicopters plus it spied and did many other roles. What country do you live in?

  • Apache dude, ever heard of that? We (I'm American) developed a helicopter so advanced that it is the deadliest, most protective, scariest, most technologically advanced helicopter in the world. It is a fact.

  • I'm not trying to be patriotic cause I'm British, but we do take U.S. designs and ussually make them much better, especially with things such as Rolls Royce Engines.

  • Well you guys designed the engine for the first bf109 prototype also. Which with little improvement showed itself as one of best fighters at the time. The only thing that is bad about the British army today is the assault rifle sa80.

  • The SA80 is still better than the M16

  • Not only do the Brits take us designs and make them better, but they give them such gems as;

    The jet engine.

    Radar.

    The English language.

    Harrier jump jets and more.

Weird how they never thank the Brits eh?

  • @Mouiki oh yeah... i know... but i dont remmember all of the vehicle that being upgraded by British forces..

  • @Loggerz23 I'm not saying that all U.S. engineering needs upgrading, because it makes many parts brilliantly and most are kept as standard, but other countries add parts from their own production that are at a better quality and standard.

As an example, American weapon systems are usually top standard.

  • @Mouiki ok ok... thx for the information.

  • @Mouiki even as an american i have to agree. Another example is i believe the challenger 2 and abrams. which are essentially the same tank simple w/ different engines. please correct if im wrong.

  • @Mouiki Now you know why we are such good friends with the brits, aside from the fact we both speak english, we pioneer the ideas if anyone improves them were there ;)

    God Bless The United States.

And god save the queen, or whatever you guys say :D

  • @STL308 and yet in the begining we were enemies then we became neutral.WTF MAN??

  • @Chucoishighoncoke Cant speak for the voice of our forefathers then, must of had their reasons. Ended up as friendlies in the end and thats what matters.

  • @Mouiki and then we hand them over to the germans so they can improve it even more =)

  • @Mouiki like the p-51 first i had an american enigne and then the king of al engines the rolls royce merlin

  • Hinds better than the apache... silly bugger

  • wow, you are very simple minded, aren't you.

  • why the hell is this thing here. its a friggin scout heli, it cant fill the same roles as the hind or anything.

  • It's not supposed to. The Loach's job is the fly low and slow and spot targets for the Cobra gunships. If you're interested in learning more about the role of the Loach in Vietnam, I'd suggest reading "Low Level Hell" by Hugh L. Mills, a chopper pilot during the conflict. It's a really great, fast paced read.

  • i realize the loaches were important but it needs to be in a different catagory or something. it is still a cool/ kinda good chopper though so i can kinda understand why.

  • my ass it sucks no matter how good the russians manufacture a helicopter, i will not apreciate it fucking communists

  • the best

  • sick video ive been studying military too for a while and attack helicopters always have interested me

  • superb aircraft.

  • As a Slick Pilot(Uh1)Turned Loach Pilot in Viet Nam(OH6)and Cambodia,I have never flown a finer Bird...a Love that will never leave me.I just retired last year as a Sikorsky S92Capt.flew S76 212s 412s Pumas et al, Southeast Asia to include the Phillipines, the Mid East,South America, SAR, Night IFR offshore, Hurricane and typhoon evacs, Fire fighting in Type2s(212-412s and a turn in Sky Cranes)The Hind was fast enuff but could not turn right in the higher speed regimens, strong though.

    CavLoh

  • Sweet.

  • What about the Kamov-52, that is a dangerous piece of equipment.

  • i was wondering where it has gone too..the apache is better,so they didnt put it in cos it would beat the shit out of western choppers..

its better than the 24 hind..so maybe its just discovery being stupid..?

  • you can't crack the Flying Egg!

  • i think that all of these choppers except the Apache are underated by these so called experts.

  • what!!! NO.5?, it's one of the best helicopters ever devised, UH1 Huey, Huey 500, cobra and Chinook are the best helicopters ever devised, they have been in service for over 40 years and have proven their selves in combat

  • Love this helo. Small, packs a punch, fits in insanly small spots. Saved lives in Mogadishu due to its size and carring capacity. If it had been any other helo in that same spot more good men would've died.

  • ONe of the most beautiful choppers ever made!

  • Comparing the Little Bird to the Apache and the

Chinook is like comparing apples to oranges. Each has its use. Little Bird is used to fly SF, Delta etc in and out of their missions. But it still can carry a big sting. Just ask Blackwater what they think of the bird. Two pilots, two door gunners...what more could one ask. Have some respect people. This is a great bird.

  • lol THIS thing beat the Mi-24? sure its small and stealthy but w/o a Cobra backing it up it wont last very long.

  • "teardrop shaped?"

i don't know, it looks like a bit of sperm to me! lol

that being said, it's a pretty good thing to fly if you want to go through some tight places and make sharp turns and whatnot. great aircraft all in all.

  • cue the theme from Magnum... i love these helicopters. like the Bell ranger, they're so eighties.

  • that helicopter sucks if u wont see a bad ass heli go search up apache helicopter .

  • the apache is loud & slow. even a chinook can outrun it. no way should it be no. 1 on the list. a russian heli should be, summin like the hokum

  • dude, a chinook can outrun most if not all helicopters. and the Apache is a good helo, one of the best attack helos out there. No one's gonna hear a Apache from it's stand-off distance, ever see the videos? And its not like helo's or aircraft find each other by sound. And speed only counts for two things with helo's, getting there and getting out...missles outrun all helos.

  • All helicopters are loud, but how loud they are in combat depends on many different factors. Like at low altitudes, the apache is virtually silent to ground troops. Add the little noises that surround you, and you will not be able to hear the apache at all. Plus it can strike from a distance.

  • ...and at the same time only showing its longbow radar, the rist hidden away behind,trees,hills,buildings,etc..

    truely awsome machine!

  • SAMS are not ment for helo's lol. god ppl are stupid.

  • Are u kidding me? Open up a book for fuck sake and read BEFORE you post crap like that.

Sa-7, Sa-14, FIM-94, Blowpipe, and many many more. ALL of these syems where designed to counter Low Altitude threats, I.E. HELICOPTERS.

  • They Teamed Up Like the AH-64D And OH-58D Do Now

  • This is one of the few helos that can do a loop UPSIDE DOWN. lol.

  • (any SAM can destroy a flying helicopter) But there is not SAM´s everywhere.

  • Yes, it is called little bird. I haven't heard the (Apart from this) heli been called "Killer egg" before.

  • yeah, me too. its always been a lil bird to me

  • this is one cool bird...i've seen pilots manover these in spaces where you couldnt turn a car around...and their bloody fast

  • wasn't it called little bird??

  • The attack version is called the AH-6 Little Bird

  • it looks like a flying egg lol.

  • killer egg??? i thought its called the Litle Bird

  • hot as in sweaty.

  • great

  • whats with the use of a British narrator? I swear they do this all the time for tank and heli videos and documentaries on TV. It's like the producers always have to throw in a British guy to add a feel of sophistication. Corny!

  • What are you talking about, he's american! Jesus you can't even tell your own countries accent!??!?!?!?

  • No, I mean the introductory voiceover who does the technical specs for each chopper. Oh BTW check out my Huey and Cobra videos on my playlist!

  • Oh woops right yeah, that a english accent all right.

  • The narrator is American you stupid shit. God, you're a moron.

  • no silly head, the intro voiceover guy is British

  • this is rated above the Hind??? What utter biased american BS!

  • american stinger missile can hit and destroy Mi-24 shut down few times..

    too bad ussr russia Mi-24

  • any SAM can destroy a flying helicopter, whats your point?

  • Mi24 has owned cobras in Iraq vs Iran war in air to air fight. That was first air to air Usa vs Rus production choppers.

  • No, the Mi24 has no air to air missiles.

  • It can be armed with air to air. Striela rockets or other.

  • Mi 24 "DO" Have air to air missiles the normal load is 4 missiles a chopper.

  • ahhaaha, egg. but really cool.

  • i bet i could build one, its so hot.

  • Seen the show before it was very good

  • love the "little bird"

  • Killer Egg? I believe its called the LITTLE BIRD.

  • yes they do watch the movie Black Hawk Down

  • Loaches fuckin rule. I hope they keep em in service! Thanks for the vid.

  • I love the MD-520N

  • do they have seat belts on the side "bench"?
