Personally I think the voice actors are...poor for the roles they are playing, there appears to be a lack of power and emotion in their voices, that being something that you would expect from a genetically engineered warrior monk

@TheKing0fTheWinter Yeah you see, most if not all sci-fi and fantasy aim for cool and not logic. They wear this armor that's supposed to turn them into walking tanks, but convieniently, every faction in the Warhammer universe has their basic infantry outfitted with super high explosive armor piercing rounds, even the armorless Imperial Guardsmen. Tacti-cool for tactical. Halo is one of the few things I've seen fix this to an extent.
I like the Ultramarines, wish we could get some media of the Horus Hersey or at least see some Primarchs in these games/movies. I'd love to see Robulet break a power ahmmer into a few Chaos marines. lol
Grey Knights, definitely are the best chapter. 3000 warriors, with the greatest will power in the Imperium. Greater than Space Marines even, due to the fact that none have ever fallen to Chaos, due to their will power and psychic abilities. They have faced down threats even whole chapters could not defeat, and destroyed daemons, such as Ang'rath the Great daemon of Khorne in the Seige of Vraks campaign. No others can do the task the Knights do.
@Nyoxs We know little about the adeptus custodes apart from the attack of terra. I believe it's safe to assume they are more powerful than the grey knights.
@lamthespy2275 the grey knights arent parrt of the inquisistion, they are just of particular use to them as a whole chapter of librarians has a large advantage over daemons. They're a space marine chapter like any other, many of which have particular traits- going mad, having canine fangs etc. they're just psychically gifted.

graphics don't looks like anything special to me, given how lord of the rings, star wars etc succeeded I think its a shame they have gone for an entirely graphics based film. Also I imagined that space marines would have much lower voice, I think they perhaps should have made the first film from an imperial guard point of view as it would have required less graphics and just in my view a better film to watch as if wouldn't be like a computer game.

the reason they are considered the greatest is because of all the chapters that stayed loyal, the ultramarines had the most in quantity, their Primarch Roboute Guilliman never considered himself better then the space marines around him, the tactical genius he had in battle, and that the Ultramarines were the 2nd best at recapturing worlds, the fastest, and left it in the best state. The best at doing these things were the Sons of Horus/ Luna Wolves, now called The Black Legion.
Despite the Ultramarines being my favorite; I'd have to say that the best chapter out there would be Deathwatch. Simply because they are made up of the best Marines in the galaxy.
And considering how Space Marines chapters are already made up of the best of the best, Deathwatch is a some what "Special Forces" in terms of Space Marines
the Emporer trusted each chapter with the fate of mankind so you cant say one is better than the other because they r all the angels of death and they are all the sheild of mankind.

If you count average value of each soldier, one should remember that they're all - at the very least - psykers. It's like an entire chapter of Librarians. @Hust91 Technicaly the Grey Knights are part of the inquisiton, and the inquisiton is not exactly a chapter, more of an order of Daemonhunters, Witch hunters and the Grey Knights.
The Gray Knights work closely with the Ordo Malleus, but are not under their command. If you have read the book Grey Knights, an Inquisitor has to plead a Grand Master to give her four squads of Grey Knights. They are a chapter to themselves, but it is most beneficial for them to work closely with the Malleus.
@Hust91 Good points, but we all know in the Imperium, no chapter stands the test of loyalty as good as the Black Templars,lol. Millennium long crusades, guilt that can kill a daemon and of course, lineage from the Imperial Fist and of course, equal amount of hatred for ruinous powers as the Grey Knights.
@AthlonXPlover I agree, plus imo they are the most aesthetically pleasing with black and white color scheme with all the incantations, purity seals, chapter standards, and virtually every initiate has some sort of blessed relic or just plain awesome chains hanging off them. And they are a mainly melee type army, there's nothing quite like a chainsword ripping through some demons/heretics/mutants. as 1d4chan puts it - "are as manly as the Manly Marines and as angry as the Angry Marines"

The entire movie is made by large fans of Warhammer 40,000. Dan Abnett, one of the greatest 40k Novelists, is part of the team. And GamesWorkshop supervised the ENTIRE production and approved everything in it. So if you find fault in this movie, take it out on them, not the company who made it.
the dark angels are the greatest, they where the very first of those original "First Founding" Legions to be created at the beginning of the Great Crusade, and so were originally under the command of the Emperor himself.
@Droidekea but the custodes never leave the imperial palace, and there are just 300 of them,, so you can't realy call it a chapter.. they are more like an honor guard of terra and personal guardians of the emperor himself, they are the only ones who have ever seen the emperor in his current state, and only they are allowed to touch the golden throne (but even then only if it's realy realy realy nesicarry)

I wish everyone would stop arguing over which chapter is the best. We all have our opinions, but what Dan Abnett said is true. The Ultramarines ARE brand recognisable and easy to grasp. It will not be just Warhammer 40k fans watching this movie, and therefore they have to cater for different demographics. Personally, though, this looks like a huge heap of AWESOME.
@DeathRaven000 well IMO what the trailer meant by "Greatest " would be their guts and glory. It is clearly the most oldest and well -recognized + largely-populated SM chapter among all. I remeber in one Codex or book,the Ultramarines defeated a Tyranid splinter-fleet WITHOUT any stragety,just fight the endless swarm head on with guns and swords. Noble but Fertile. This Movie is just a low-budget film(if its Successful IT MUST BE) we will be looking forward to DOW2 intro cinematic in far future

Gotta agree with you on that. My favorite chapter of Space Marines are the Salamanders, but you can't argue over the face that the Ultramarines have the most stories to their name, and everyone knows the Ultramarines. This movie is a step forward into getting more people interested in 40K.
@DeathRaven000 You also have to remember for non-Warhammer 40K fan "Ultramarine" will also mean - Super Marine... Super Soldiers. So, they can link it as a film about a class of solder more awesome than the standard Marine.

The Ultramarines are the greatest chapter, actually. THey contribute genetic material for more than 2/3rds of all current Space Marines. They had quite possibly the greatest Primarch, and only they govern not one planet, but an entire sector of the galaxy. Finally, because most Space Marines own their genetic allegiance to the Ultramarines, the Lord Macragge, Marneus Calgar, can potentially call upon any or all of those chapters to fight alongside the Ultramarines at any time.
if the movies just an epic shooting phase with the chaos i wouldn't watch it, i wanna watch the survivors or a huge battle trying to escape and on the way encounter necrons or tau, even tyranids and eldars etc. that would be much more better
@MasterHonorius John Hurt, while I am not sure if that is indeed his voice or not, did play the role as the dragon in merlin as well as voice a character in this movie.
Custodes are the best, sure, but they were talking about the Astartes, not the Custodes here. But still, I wouldn't say Ultras are the best. Most numerous perhaps, but not the best.
Why are people arguing which Legion is the oldest? All the Primarchs were created as one, in the Imperial 'Dungeon', beneath the Palace of the Emperor on Holy Terra.
If you want to argue that the Legion wasn't truly a legion until the Astartes were united with their Primarch Fathers, then the 'oldest' Legion is the Luna Wolves, or Black Legion, Sons of the Arch-Traitor Horus.

@Hust91 Technicaly the Grey Knights are part of the inquisiton, and the inquisiton is not exactly a chapter, more of an order of Daemonhunters, Witch hunters and the Grey Knights.

The Gray Knights work closely with the Ordo Malleus, but are not under their command. If you have read the book Grey Knights, an Inquisitor has to plead a Grand Master to give her four squads of Grey Knights. They are a chapter to themselves, but it is most beneficial for them to work closely with the Malleus.

@Hust91 Good points, but we all know in the Imperium, no chapter stands the test of loyalty as good as the Black Templars,lol. Millennium long crusades, guilt that can kill a daemon and of course, lineage from the Imperial Fist and of course, equal amount of hatred for ruinous powers as the Grey Knights.

@AthlonXPlover I agree, plus imo they are the most aesthetically pleasing with black and white color scheme with all the incantations, purity seals, chapter standards, and virtually every initiate has some sort of blessed relic or just plain awesome chains hanging off them. And they are a mainly melee type army, there's nothing quite like a chainsword ripping through some demons/heretics/mutants. as 1d4chan puts it - "are as manly as the Manly Marines and as angry as the Angry Marines"

The entire movie is made by large fans of Warhammer 40,000. Dan Abnett, one of the greatest 40k Novelists, is part of the team. And GamesWorkshop supervised the ENTIRE production and approved everything in it. So if you find fault in this movie, take it out on them, not the company who made it.

@Droidekea but the custodes never leave the imperial palace, and there are just 300 of them,, so you can't realy call it a chapter.. they are more like an honor guard of terra and personal guardians of the emperor himself, they are the only ones who have ever seen the emperor in his current state, and only they are allowed to touch the golden throne (but even then only if it's realy realy realy nesicarry)

I wish everyone would stop arguing over which chapter is the best. We all have our opinions, but what Dan Abnett said is true. The Ultramarines ARE brand recognisable and easy to grasp. It will not be just Warhammer 40k fans watching this movie, and therefore they have to cater for different demographics. Personally, though, this looks like a huge heap of AWESOME.

@DeathRaven000 well IMO what the trailer meant by "Greatest " would be their guts and glory. It is clearly the most oldest and well -recognized + largely-populated SM chapter among all. I remeber in one Codex or book,the Ultramarines defeated a Tyranid splinter-fleet WITHOUT any stragety,just fight the endless swarm head on with guns and swords. Noble but Fertile. This Movie is just a low-budget film(if its Successful IT MUST BE) we will be looking forward to DOW2 intro cinematic in far future

Gotta agree with you on that. My favorite chapter of Space Marines are the Salamanders, but you can't argue over the face that the Ultramarines have the most stories to their name, and everyone knows the Ultramarines. This movie is a step forward into getting more people interested in 40K.

The Ultramarines are the greatest chapter, actually. THey contribute genetic material for more than 2/3rds of all current Space Marines. They had quite possibly the greatest Primarch, and only they govern not one planet, but an entire sector of the galaxy. Finally, because most Space Marines own their genetic allegiance to the Ultramarines, the Lord Macragge, Marneus Calgar, can potentially call upon any or all of those chapters to fight alongside the Ultramarines at any time.

The first offical Chapter outside an Astartes Legion was the Ultramarines, as their Primarch wrote the book that started it all, the Codex Astartes.

Why are people arguing which Legion is the oldest? All the Primarchs were created as one, in the Imperial 'Dungeon', beneath the Palace of the Emperor on Holy Terra.
If you want to argue that the Legion wasn't truly a legion until the Astartes were united with their Primarch Fathers, then the 'oldest' Legion is the Luna Wolves, or Black Legion, Sons of the Arch-Traitor Horus.
