@1966Daywalker You do not deserve any respect if you try to claim ridiculous things and provide no evidence. Atheists will continue to refute all of your assertions until you realize you are wrong.
6 people died recently (on the news at least) in Britain listening to priests telling them god healed their AIDS. FUCK religion
If anyone needs hardcore guns for creationists. Go to facebook. com/creationistssuck and use the information section to destroy all idiots on youtube
I just had a conversation with my devout mother about belief in god, and once again she missed the point which ties in to the video: A being capable of such immense power and benelovence would not fault a person for not believing in it, much less condemn it for trivial behaviors such as sexual preferences. Obviously she could not understand this, and I still fail to see why. Its as if what I'm saying simply does not click in her mind or she doesn't want to acknowledge the validity of my argument
In a religious sense, no words don't have magical powers. But in reality, they do have power. That is the basis for psychological abuse, especially in children. Words and phrases like "You're so stupid", "Moron", "Faggot", "Loser", "Ugly bitch", "Lazy piece of shit", ect very much hurt people and have a lot of power. Where as positive words such as "That is great!", "You're beautiful", "Great job!", ect have the opposite effect and build people up. Words are very powerful.
@ButtaNToast I think you missed my point. With any child (and really most adults), words have huge effects on their psyche. Sure, people can ignore the words, but most of the time they don't. And that doesn't mean they explode into a scene. Internallizing is very common, and is the essence of bullying. You call a kid "stupid" enough by people who the child is supposed to look up to (elder peers, parents, teachers, family), and they start believing that they are. This can last into adulthood.
@ButtaNToast (cont) This is very grounded in psychology, and is a huge problem that a lot of people overlook. Verbal abuse is a very real problem in school, work places, and relationships. This type of abuse can lead a person to suicide or other types of self harm like drug abuse. On the other hand, positive reinforcement has also been proven to show the exact opposite results. Children grow up more self adjusted when surrounded by positive praise and phrases.
@AvalonDraconis i agree, you put it very well. Verbal abuse have very negatvie psychological impact on those victimised, BECAUSE children are self adjusting. They self-adjust to something non-functional, often submissivity and selfloading, instead of learning their true value in society. Positive reinforcements is not guaranteed to work, but leads to the least negative impacts - whatever remaining negative impacts would be unavoidable in this context.
@AvalonDraconis ok i got to agree, words do hurt kids, but thats only a brain problem, when words only start to mean something to you, you dont realize that you can simple be ignorant to stupid pple that insult you, but when you realize that words are only vibrations in that air created from an organe in you, i think thats when your smart enough to not give a shit
and these words of power dont mean allot nether, since someone could easily lie to you by saying anything
@AntitheistPOV "Magical powers"? No, of course not. But as my post says, they do have power. If you disagree with that, then you disagree with many psychologists.
w w w psychologytoday com /blog/let-their-words-do-the-talking/201011/words-have-power
@AvalonDraconis Exactly, which is why I always bristled at those who said the "N" word is just a word just because they wanted to use it. I do not use that kind of terminology for a number of reasons--and that same person, if I called them an asshole would definitely be offended. But I suppose minorities are supposed to suck it up and take whatever we believe to be egregious simply to mollify those who wish to insult us in any fashion they desire...
@MrRazorz WTF? First someone says that god can't be logically proven, immaterial and unreachable, and then someone says that they have a personal relationship with him like priests? How is that suppose make any sense at all? And how come people say that prayer works if he's that mysterious and unreachable?
hmmm...atheist and non atheist invest in the stocks of pharm companies to create a multi-billion dollar stock market off a very peculiar disease fascinating video
@thegeniushasreturned Of course, prayer doesn't do anything against AIDS. Barrier contraception, antiretrovital therapy, and proper education prevent AIDS. All of these are a direct result of scientific advancement, due to man. God, he disappoints me.
Let me put it this way, since you cant seem to follow: I own guns and have never shot myself or anyone else, I own a circular saw and have all my fingers, and Most people own cars and have not hit anyone. Now think man, do you really need to be told why that is? No wonder so many people have STD's are go around, "duh, how much do have to spend ta find a cure??"
Think about it. AIDs was brought about from someone having a sexual experience that was, shall we say unnatural? Is it so hard to understand that isolating it and letting it die out on it's own would be affective and not doing the things that cause it, augh, but that is unthinkable!
@1966Daywalker Love the way you said 'Aids was'. Care to give some evidence to back up your claim? Asserting a truth is different from proving evidence.
@1966Daywalker Wrong, the first documented cases of HIV were found in those eating 'bush meat' I.E. the eating of ape flesh from chimps. Do your research on credible sites before making statements like that.
@Manoichan I do research. Just because your view and my view are not the same does not mean I'm an idiot, and the fact is that prayer cufres nothing, and AIDS remains transmitted like a sonofabitch from sex acts that are not natural. A man fucking a man is hardly natural.
@1966Daywalker Bull-fucking-shit. If you had done any research, you wouldn't call it a view. You would have viewed facts and statistical analysis. Hard data. It didn't start with sexual intercourse, it started as a trans-species disease and your claim was that it was done so as doing unnatural sexual acts and because it's common in the homosexual community, doesn't mean it started there, asshead.Period.
@Manoichan Tell you what, motherfucker, you dont know shit about me or what I do with my time and I am sick of cowardly bastards like you sending me these responses. In the future, yuou atheist fuck, I will not respond to you so kiss my ass. You would never have the balls to address me like this in person and I will delete your comments to me in the future. I can curse to, rude asshole!
@1966Daywalker Boohoo! U mad bro cus the atheist called you out on your irrational claims and bullshit claims? And if your gonna resort to 'you don't got da ballz to face me face to face' then I'll call you on that too, asshole. I don't give a shit if I'm miles away over the internet or in your face, I call bullshit when I see, smell and hear it. Period.
@1966Daywalker Pffffffffft, lol, that's the best you've got? And you're judging all atheist on the actions of a single, lone commentor that happens to share the same non-belief as others? You really are pathetic.
@1966Daywalker You know straight couples get aids too, right? Homosexuality in nature is also rather common among many species. Some biologists have concluded it could be a natural population control mechanic.
@hellhammerz666 Yes I know. I see promiscuity as a huge cause of STD's. This discussion could go on forever, but I personally am no longer interested, thank you though for your response, it's nice to see a rational one. This is my view point, no better or worse than the next. Regards.
@1966Daywalker Promiscuity and homosexuality are two separate things. The former is of course present in both homosexual and straight couples. To be honest, i'd blame promiscuity on our own cultural stygmas. Children nowadays feel they have to "proove" themselves by going out and having as much sex as they can. Being a virgin is almost a shameful tag, because kids don't really understand the implications and consequences of irresponsibly managing their sexuality, they just care about being cool.
@cocormms Great for you man. One thing I have to warn you about, having been in the exact situation as you as a black, 15-year-old atheist, don't be so quick to bring it up all the time (assuming you even do, you probably handle it much better than I did). If I could go back I'd have been a lot more relaxed about it.
I've always said that Blacks are the most religious bunch of them all. And not just any religion but only Jesus religions. It's a huge part of their culture and upbringing. god and religion are all about INDOCTRINATION. That makes up the biggest part of who we are and what we believe in...if our parents are republican, christian, Chicago Cubs fans, then guess what, most likely we will be all of those things too!
hello, question plz, Do u reject GOD because 1. we (believers could not prove our situation or 2. you have instead a scientific evidence (situation) that proves God does not exist or may be Both? if we agree on option 1. what about option 2, the scientists themselves are debating the functionality of ( irreducible complexity/ natural selection) in fact many scienitsts have failed it (with scientific proofs) are they ignorant scientists and you are the illuminated !?.or du have other situation?
@Humanbeingforallah Religious people make the positive claim that God exists, and they therefore have the burden of proof. Atheism isn't a positive claim that God does not exist, it's a response to the claim that he does. Irreducible complexity is dead, it lost in a court case. They even demonstrated how the bacterial flagellum (the favourite example of irreducible complexity proponents) evolved through natural selection. You have bad sources, I suggest you do some research before you comment.
@Humanbeingforallah This has been addressed in many videos. Most atheists (I can't speak for all) don't believe in any god because there is a lack of evidence for the existence of a god. Also, I would like to add that irreducible complexity has been thwarted at every time and has yet to show a single organism that is simply too complex to have evolved.
@FallofDarkness55 So when you climax you say the word "orgasm" over and over? "Orgasm orgasm orgasm orgasm....uhhhhh ORGASMMMMM!!!".....interesting lol
@ahhhhjjjj Okay. I thought he wanted to know another word for the "climax" during sexual intercourse. During an orgasm you say "AHHHH" and you scream a lot. lol.
It occurred to me independent of what anyone has ever said to me that black Americans seem to be more religious than whites (is "black" not PC anymore?). Jjust an observation based on what I've seen. I'm not American though (thankfully).
I wonder if it comes out of gospel music which seems to have its roots in that demographic and which is firmly religious.
@warren52nz as a black American atheist, i can tell you that my community is completely entrenched in superstition & archaic beliefs & it's tragic. the most obvious reason for this is that religion was passed from the slavemasters to the slaves & was the only avenue of hope for a better life. they believed that god would bring them out of their shitty, oppressed existences. gospel music/negro spirituals) came out of that culture...& here we are all these years later still spewing this nonsense.
@warren52nz it's cool...just please dont have "white guilt"...so many white people get nervous about "sounding racist" when they are just speaking the truth...and i'm a sistah, not a "bro." :)
@lmbrao2g Do you think that it is just difficult for people to actually point out the obvious of what you said here to african americans? Meaning that, obviously, the slaves WEREN'T Christians before they came here and were forcibly converted...just as african muslims were forcibly converted by arab invaders, that arab muslims still own african slaves even today and look down on african muslims? I guess the point I'm making is that they need to leave superstition behind.
@lmbrao2g If I were to worship a group of people I would worship Africans because they are our modern-day ancestors from evolutionary processes! Slavery and racism sickens me! By the way I'm a white person.
@henf5671 good point...but i wouldn't even go that far because Africans had many horrendous superstitions that hurt people, for instance, considering the birth of twins to be an abomination and leaving them in the forest to die because they were "evil." (this is from the Ibo culture) and in addition to that, many African cultures systematically oppressed women (and still do). i feel like i can only respect our ancestors but so much because modern man has the advantage of wisdom and hindsight.
@lmbrao2g My theory is that it's much easier to accept you were stolen from your homeland and forced to work for nothing while getting sold, whipped and raped if there is a magical man who will make it all better if you just pray to him hard enough.
To clarify I mean that it's an easy esacape from reality if your told all about these supposedly wonderful things god does meanwhile your a slave, It's a very enticing offer, In essance a mass endoctrination of a race of people.
@lmbrao2g I'm with you on that one. But we are quietly making some progress. The whip from the slave master is gone, but we've become so accustomed to it that we have replaced it with the wrath of god. We have to have something to fear, I guess. Ignorance, supersition and illiteracy together make a perfect breeding ground for the poison of religion.
@lmbrao2g yeah Im Filipino American Catholic (closet Atheist), and my family is totally immersed in this Jewish mythology that was shoved down our throats by Spanish Colonists. Its such a sad sight. Every time I sit through a sermon, I just wanna walk up to that child molesting priest and slash that fuckers throat for LYING TO EVERYONE and making them feel guilty for nothing. For taking our money. For having them worry about the "end of the world".
As a black person, I feel that atheisim is minority enough, so let's don't fracture it any further. While there are fewer Black atheists, I honestly can't say whether or not it's because we're more religious. It would be cool to meet another black atheist, but shit...I'd be happy to meet ANY other atheist! :D
Yeah you say that now. But my you're probably only black because you're angry at god. If you only let Jesus into your heart you could be a white Englishman. Like Jesus was.
Doctors have now declared that a man treated for HIV in Germany has been cured of the disease. That was done through science, not voodoo. Can we stop with the religious crap now? And please don't drag out that old "God enabled those doctors to cure him" bullshit.
Wow...Kenya is a primitive country that when it comes to HIV, it's very taboo. Sometimes it's not the religion, it's the enstilled cultural ways to influence people to do right by adding things that aren't helpful.
For anyone who has dealt with the "trying to get a friend to see the light." Start -small- as long as they're not constantly jumping down your throat, begin with little things, sadly, in the words of Dane Cook--be a freaking brain ninja. Point out little inaccuracies in the bible. Point out all the christians they disagree with--point out other sects of christianity that claim that -that person- is going to hell. Section it up, create doubt in their mind. Start small.
If 500 people prayed for a cure and 50 people went out to get degrees in biochemistry and medicine, which group do you think would have the biggest impact? Maybe if people want to help a cause, they should get to work and actually do something. It is a slap in the face of hard working people to claim that a deity is responsible for saving people that were saved by medicine engineered by science. Can you imagine the good that would happen if the group of 500 went and did something?
@darkblood626 dude that is so fucking funny and true..LOL..I know idiots who go to the doctor and get surgery done and recover..then thank god not the doctor..but god for healing them..LOL FUCKINGIDIOTS
@lepolohuevo Billions of pounds of damage, thousands of deaths, towns and cities destroyed, deadly high radiation levels. But God exists and loves you. Is it not possible for him to show this love without destroying the lives of millions?
White males tend to be more intelligent than blacks(genetic and nurturing factors) on average, and THIS is why there are more atheists in the white community...I'm a black man and this is still an easy call...Libs are always beating around the bush about this and it's getting really aggravating.
I'm not one to say "I'm glad" when someone gets an illness, but I am glad this woman got it. It opened her eyes and showed her how she was potentially killing other people because of a belief. How do we know that someone who listened to didn't care if they got HIV because they thought prayer could cure it?
I believe religion could do some good if used properly, but I'll be damned if it's ever used properly... seems to always be the opposite...
Sounds like a bitch to me. If the only reason you start caring about people with aids is cause you have it, is meaningless. if you never got aids, she would still be harming people that have to this day.
looks like this 'healer' finally realized just how effective faith and prayers were pitted against reality. she thought HIV got way just by wishing for it - do you ever think the people with the HIV tried that already or would have if it was so easy?! she finally realized the stupidity of thinking things came about just by wanting it, and the price for that was not something she was ready to pay

AvalonDraconis 4 months ago 27
@AvalonDraconis WORDS do not have power. Words are a social construct and have no means of naturally harming us.
HOWEVER.
If we WANT words to hurt us, they can. If we WANT words to have meaning/power behind them, we can.
If you call me a faggot, I could do one of two things
1) Ignore it. The word no longer has meaning
2) Take serious offense to it and get very upset with you. Exploding the situation into something much greater than what it needs to be.
I know I'm being idealistic here.
ButtaNToast 4 months ago
@ButtaNToast I think you missed my point. With any child (and really most adults), words have huge effects on their psyche. Sure, people can ignore the words, but most of the time they don't. And that doesn't mean they explode into a scene. Internallizing is very common, and is the essence of bullying. You call a kid "stupid" enough by people who the child is supposed to look up to (elder peers, parents, teachers, family), and they start believing that they are. This can last into adulthood.
AvalonDraconis 4 months ago 2
@ButtaNToast (cont) This is very grounded in psychology, and is a huge problem that a lot of people overlook. Verbal abuse is a very real problem in school, work places, and relationships. This type of abuse can lead a person to suicide or other types of self harm like drug abuse. On the other hand, positive reinforcement has also been proven to show the exact opposite results. Children grow up more self adjusted when surrounded by positive praise and phrases.
AvalonDraconis 4 months ago 2
@AvalonDraconis i agree, you put it very well. Verbal abuse have very negatvie psychological impact on those victimised, BECAUSE children are self adjusting. They self-adjust to something non-functional, often submissivity and selfloading, instead of learning their true value in society. Positive reinforcements is not guaranteed to work, but leads to the least negative impacts - whatever remaining negative impacts would be unavoidable in this context.
MagnusNyborg 4 months ago
@AvalonDraconis ok i got to agree, words do hurt kids, but thats only a brain problem, when words only start to mean something to you, you dont realize that you can simple be ignorant to stupid pple that insult you, but when you realize that words are only vibrations in that air created from an organe in you, i think thats when your smart enough to not give a shit
and these words of power dont mean allot nether, since someone could easily lie to you by saying anything

You're missing the point. Nobody claimed that words don't mean things. That's obvious.
The hosts simply stated that words do not have supernatural power. You're inventing an exception to something that nobody said.
AntitheistPOV 1 month ago
@AvalonDraconis Exactly, which is why I always bristled at those who said the "N" word is just a word just because they wanted to use it. I do not use that kind of terminology for a number of reasons--and that same person, if I called them an asshole would definitely be offended. But I suppose minorities are supposed to suck it up and take whatever we believe to be egregious simply to mollify those who wish to insult us in any fashion they desire...

Think about it. AIDs was brought about from someone having a sexual experience that was, shall we say unnatural? Is it so hard to understand that isolating it and letting it die out on it's own would be affective and not doing the things that cause it, augh, but that is unthinkable!
1966Daywalker 6 months ago
@1966Daywalker Love the way you said 'Aids was'. Care to give some evidence to back up your claim? Asserting a truth is different from proving evidence.
spmcd2011 6 months ago
@1966Daywalker Wrong, the first documented cases of HIV were found in those eating 'bush meat' I.E. the eating of ape flesh from chimps. Do your research on credible sites before making statements like that.

@Manoichan I do research. Just because your view and my view are not the same does not mean I'm an idiot, and the fact is that prayer cufres nothing, and AIDS remains transmitted like a sonofabitch from sex acts that are not natural. A man fucking a man is hardly natural.
1966Daywalker 3 months ago
@1966Daywalker Bull-fucking-shit. If you had done any research, you wouldn't call it a view. You would have viewed facts and statistical analysis. Hard data. @hellhammerz666 Yes I know. I see promiscuity as a huge cause of STD's. This discussion could go on forever, but I personally am no longer interested, thank you though for your response, it's nice to see a rational one. This is my view point, no better or worse than the next. Regards.
1966Daywalker 2 months ago
@1966Daywalker Promiscuity and homosexuality are two separate things. The former is of course present in both homosexual and straight couples. To be honest, i'd blame promiscuity on our own cultural stygmas. Children nowadays feel they have to "proove" themselves by going out and having as much sex as they can. Being a virgin is almost a shameful tag, because kids don't really understand the implications and consequences of irresponsibly managing their sexuality, they just care about being cool.
hellhammerz666 2 months ago
@1966Daywalker Actually, a large cause of STD's is because of the abstinence-only sex education, primarily in the south.

hello, question plz, Do u reject GOD because 1. we (believers could not prove our situation or 2. you have instead a scientific evidence (situation) that proves God does not exist or may be Both? if we agree on option 1. what about option 2, the scientists themselves are debating the functionality of ( irreducible complexity/ natural selection) in fact many scienitsts have failed it (with scientific proofs) are they ignorant scientists and you are the illuminated !?.or du have other situation?
Humanbeingforallah 7 months ago
@Humanbeingforallah Religious people make the positive claim that God exists, and they therefore have the burden of proof. Atheism isn't a positive claim that God does not exist, it's a response to the claim that he does. Irreducible complexity is dead, it lost in a court case. They even demonstrated how the bacterial flagellum (the favourite example of irreducible complexity proponents) evolved through natural selection. You have bad sources, I suggest you do some research before you comment.
damandatwin 7 months ago 4
@Humanbeingforallah This has been addressed in many videos. Most atheists (I can't speak for all) don't believe in any god because there is a lack of evidence for the existence of a god. Also, I would like to add that irreducible complexity has been thwarted at every time and has yet to show a single organism that is simply too complex to have evolved.

It occurred to me independent of what anyone has ever said to me that black Americans seem to be more religious than whites (is "black" not PC anymore?). Jjust an observation based on what I've seen. I'm not American though (thankfully).
I wonder if it comes out of gospel music which seems to have its roots in that demographic and which is firmly religious.
warren52nz 9 months ago
@warren52nz as a black American atheist, i can tell you that my community is completely entrenched in superstition & archaic beliefs & it's tragic. the most obvious reason for this is that religion was passed from the slavemasters to the slaves & was the only avenue of hope for a better life. they believed that god would bring them out of their shitty, oppressed existences. gospel music/negro spirituals) came out of that culture...& here we are all these years later still spewing this nonsense.

MrWonkoSane 9 months ago
@lmbrao2g If I were to worship a group of people I would worship Africans because they are our modern-day ancestors from evolutionary processes! Slavery and racism sickens me! By the way I'm a white person.
henf5671 9 months ago
@henf5671 good point...but i wouldn't even go that far because Africans had many horrendous superstitions that hurt people, for instance, considering the birth of twins to be an abomination and leaving them in the forest to die because they were "evil." (this is from the Ibo culture) and in addition to that, many African cultures systematically oppressed women (and still do). i feel like i can only respect our ancestors but so much because modern man has the advantage of wisdom and hindsight.

@lmbrao2g I'm with you on that one. But we are quietly making some progress.
