I bought a copy on DVD and it had some laughs. The car bit with the fishsucker stuck to the window was tops! Hilarious. Was hoping the production would take us further than the trailer, but I can understand the constraints of a DIY budget. All things considered, it was a fun film and really hope to see more from these filmmakers. :)

Sadly the movie Dagon is much better.

All they have to do to make this movie worth watching is to put a giant Cthulhu coming out of the sea at the end or something, but they didn't.

Furthermore, at at 5:50 even the actors in the film is laughing at the fish guy costume. I know he is trying to make a scary face, but cannot help but laugh at the stupidity of it.

I just finished watching this flick and I highly recommended it to anyone who's familiar with the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Imagine a contemporarily-set comedy about a trio of idiots who suddenly find themselves tasked with preventing the awakening of Cthulhu, and then imagine that high concept actually being done well. That's this movie.

The film it reminded me of most oddly was Fanboys a kinda geeks Cthulhu roadtrip. I wanted to like this being a Lovecraft fan, but it was pretty dire for most part (don't get me wrong for the budget you couldn't fault it and everyone infront of the camera tried) it was the sub power rangers costumes and need to pad it along with poor fight scenes that spoilt it for me.

@tetrisclock actually no, I've just read what other cthulhian mythos authors have wrote including hastur. I haven't read any of lovecrafts stories including hastur, or that short stories book by that other guy.

HPL only mentioned Hastur directly in one story. He appeared in "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" briefly, but other than that, he and the Yellow Sign weren't prevalent ideas in HPL's fiction.

Read "The King in Yellow" by Robert Chambers though. It's the only horror writing the guy ever did, so don't think Chambers is a horror writer though.

Actually pretty much everything Lovecraft wrote had some piece of insider humor and I doubt that he would object to a little humor to balance out the horror.

Most people think that Lovecraft wrote horror stories. What he really wrote was stories about humanity struggling against the unknowable.
