  • This album is terrifically underrated. I know why it is, and I do not not fault people who are horrified by the sound, but I love how confrontational this is. I am skeptical as anyone else when I hear that an album has been excused as a "fuck you" to a record label, but the videos for this, "Weight of the World" and "Pressure" make it CRYSTAL CLEAR that this was the case. I love the songs "Pressure" and "I've Got A Problem" and the videos for WOTW and POTS sold me on them, too..great concept LP

  • @horseytown I read about the album before owning it and so I put it off for some time while I collected the rest of Neil's work. When I finally heard the stripped down electro-punk power trio guitar/CAPITAL 'D' DRUMS/keyboard... I was confused... how was this the "commercial" sounding album I had read about over the years? Commercial music isn't this angry... commercial music is never this good.

  • Good day

This from one of my FAVE Neil Young albums.

I nearly wore it out.. I don't have it anymore, & never see it in stores anymore eh..

Yes, I also liked TRANS, & still have it.& Rust Never Sleeps.LP

& Harvest on original Cartridge Tape format! (8 Track)

  • Neil mocks coporatism and some trends but still makes it good. He probably does not own everything he created. Remember that Michael Jackson owned much of the Beatles catalogue. Corporations rule. Rollerball anyone?

  • i know neil made this horrible on purpose but for some reason there is something catchy about it and i can't turn it off

  • lol,I beleive this was one of the recordings he did to get outa his Geffen contract!,later after sued Neil saying that this music was "unrepresenting of Himself".didnt want to have "crazy Horse"affiliated,& picked up three "rock& roll" dudes wearing Pink!...Look Like they had the same choreographer as "Hot for Teacher",lol!... did that dude just step in Dog shit?!?...

  • I admire the crazy musical genres he did back then. He had balls....and still does. Neil is my musical god.

  • 80's, what have you done ? I HATE YOU.

  • Baaahahahahaha! Hysterically terrible. Fuck you Geffen!

  • this is a great tune from a really great album .The 80,s were tough especially for any one trying to do anything new

    regards

    jimmy

  • never knew Neil was such a good dancer! HA!

  • Nice video tour of San Francisco

  • neil, neil what happened?

  • Hmm. Geffen must of been fuming! Love you Neil, don't even mind this stuff.

  • This video makes me want to get tap dancing shoes

  • shit Mary I can't dance

  • this is some fucked up drum machine sounding weird Neil young from the 80's kinda music, but some how i still love it. It also seems a little out of character.

  • His record company tried to sue him for making music out of charactor for Neil Young

  • Neil is unbelievable !!!!!

  • I don't know why people hate Landing on Water so much. There are great songs on there (Pressure, Hippie Dream). The main things wrong with are the drums mixed way too high.

  • @DavidNelsonOstrosser I really like Landing On Water too, and I love how 'in your face' the dreams are . .. .

  • @DavidNelsonOstrosser That's one of the aspects that I love about it. It's a GREAT album to crank up.

  • lol wut

  • Whenever I see his videos from this era I think of them as a big middle finger to David Geffen. And He had it coming. I love every thing Neils ever done. Asshole Geffen thinks He owns the beach in Malibu.

  • This is fantastic, but nutty, Neil Young in his early 80's electronic era. Some interesting tidbits of info: At 1:27, the dancer on the left is Russ Tamblyn, famous from the film West Side Story as Riff, leader of the Jets gang, and father of actress Amber Tamblyn. Also, at 3:27, in the background behind Neil, tied up to Pier 32 in San Francisco, is the U.S. Battleship New Jersey.

  • I can't believe Neil Young put this out. This is horrendous. One of the worst songs I've ever heard

  • NEIL.. always talking sense!!!!

  • I bet he was on alot of drugs when he did this

  • that's the thing. He cut back on drugs and the 80s was a mess. He didn't do a single awesome album until Freedom in 89.

  • Isnt the guy on the far left at around 1.34 in Human Highway?

  • never have heard this song before, and been listening to his music forever, it's quite humorous that he's in it doing the dancing, love it!

  • I had no idea Neil did anything like this, with synthesizers etc, yet I have to admit its a catchy song and I quite like it

  • thx for posting! tim pope is the bee's knees

  • Neil is still the coolest, despite completely losing his mind in the 80s. gotta love him

  • this is awesome. thanks for putting it up

  • thats in san fransisco!

  • Thanks for posting. I love "Landing on Water"

  • Muzapunk: You and I must the be only ones.

  • nice foot work neil
