Im studying for the BRPT. Was looking for videos that might help me with my studying. Thought it was cool to see this. I am a musician too. Cool song. Ive thought of writing a song on sleep medicine..a funny one kinda like this. Maybe after I pass the BRPT I will and load it on my channel. Thanks for the tune!
Do not work nights if you have kids!!! Cardboard/aluminum up windows if you are cheap like me. Buy some good black out shades otherwise, if you feel cardboard is tacky. Buy a fan that produces noise, it will help you sleep during the day. These are tips for working nights.
What is the best route to take to become a polysomnographer. Should I go to college or talk to a clinic. This is the field I want to go into, I just dont know where to began. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hi Joe, i was thinking of becoming a polysomnographer(?) myself and i was wondering if you or other co-workers ever developed sleep disorders or abnomalities from working those late night shifts that are the norm for these jobs? after how long did it take you to get used to it?
It takes a while to get used to working all night. You can develop shift work disorder. You must plan ahead to get the sleep you need during the day. On your days off, you only sleep for a couple hours and avoid coffee so you can sleep at night.
LOL......This is great. I'm a pediatric polysomnographist in Western NY. Its amazing what you can find on youtube when you're watching people sleep for a living.
Hook me up to the pulse ox man, and I want to be hooked up to the Datex Ohmeda TruSat 3500. I want the baby with the black numbers on the yellow background where the light flashes on the right side of the monitor when the alarm goes off in the key of C Major.

If you report an episode of sleep paralysis during the polysomnogram, we correlate the reported episode with the data acquired during the episode.

Question. Can this test detect sleep paralysis, even if you don't suffer from narcolepsy?

I'm getting one done tonight. I'm not looking forward to it in a way. I don't want to find out that I have OSA.
But then, at the same time, I don't want to die from it either.

well, I hope you have very high comfort and compliance throughout your polysomnogram !
